York Sectional Preview - GIRLS
With only six teams invited to the
York Sectional this season, #1 seed Fenwick is only two games away from a
chance to once again defend their state title. Also benefiting from the low
number of teams is #2 seed York, who have a one-game road to the sectional
final. The Dukes await the winner of the first round matchup between #3 seed
and WSC rival Oak Park and #6 seed Elk Grove from the Mid-Suburban League.
Fenwick will face either #4 seed Morton or #5 seed Riverside-Brookfield in
the semifinals, as the Bulldogs and Mustangs square off in the opening round
as well.
KEYS
- Rixter: Fenwick's hole set will be nearly impossible to guard and/or stop
- Baldwin, Bonk, Pavlik, etc: Strong Friars lineup causes plenty of matchup issues
- McCarthy: Fenwick goalie is hard to beat for any team in the state
- Hatz/Achtien: York's 1-2 punch need to be on for the Dukes to reach the final
- Daggett: Versatile, fast, and
skilled senior makes the Huskies a tough opponent
- Pina/Duran: Morton's offense could outgun R-B in the opener if these two
are on
- Levesque: The Grenadiers will need their star to have a big game to win
