Vernon Hills Sectional Preview - GIRLS
Stevenson has been the favorite at this sectional for the past few years, and the song remains the same in 2006. The #1 seed Patriots get a first round bye, then face either Luke Payette's #4 seeded Highland Park Giants or #5 seed Lake Forest in the semifinals. The bottom half of the bracket looks like this: #2 seed Mundelein battles #7 Deerfield in the first round, while #3 Libertyville takes on #6 Vernon Hills in the opening round. If Mundelein and Libertyville advance, it makes for an intriguing semifinal matchup, but both Vernon Hills and Deerfield have talent and will be looking to pull the upset in the first round.

KEYS

- Bukofzer: Most talented player at the sectional can carry the Patriots at times

- Shopiro, Wanland, Michelau, etc: Patriots' lineup is loaded with playmakers

- Larsen: Lefty scorer has the Mustangs ready to return to the sectional final
- Sparks: Wildcat's best weapon has speed, skill, and makes the Wildcats tough

- Corona: Scouts' goalie is as good as they come and gives LF a chance to win

- Stein, Steininger, Higgins: Underdogs' chances hinge on these top players
