Another chapter in the rivalry between Stevenson and Mundelein could be
written at Vernon Hills, as both teams are favored to reach the final game
For the past two years, Mundelein has advanced to the state tournament in a similar sectional. This year, Stevenson claimed the top seed, and they have everything working for them as they head into the Vernon Hills sectional this weekend. Keely Wimer and Terri Bukofzer lead the Patriots, and they supply enough offense for Stevenson to be successful. However, Mundelein did take the Patriots to overtime in a loss a few weeks back, so the Mustangs will be bringing their best game if they meet up with Stevenson in the finals. Libertyville, led by sisters Shannon and Rachel Sparks, could be a dangerous third seed, as they start with Deerfield on Thursday night. Stevenson will meet the Vernon Hills-Lake Forest grudge match winner on Friday.
