ST IGNATIUS-

UIC Sectional Preview
St Ignatius slipped past Latin last year at this sectional to advance to state, and the Wolfpack will be looking to do the same as the second seed at the UIC sectional this weekend. Both teams earned a first-round bye, while Latin scored the top seed by edging St Ignatius earlier in the season.

Latin applies a tough pressure defense and is led on the offensive end by Perla Almarez. Meanwhile, the Wolfpack rely on Nora Kennelly for offense, as Yadi Leon focuses on the defensive side of the pool.

Latin could have to deal with Amy Moreno if Morton can get past Lane in the first round. Moreno is the leading scorer for the Mustangs and could cause problems for the Romans if they cannot shut her down on offense.

Northside Prep has emerged as one of the surprise teams in 2005, as Nicole Lagesse and Mari Guttman teamed up to lead NSP to the Chicago Public League title in 2005. To advance to the semifinals, they will have to outlast Joelle Tafoya and Whitney Young in the opening round of the sectional.
