St Ignatius Hoping For First Trip To State At UIC Sectional

St Ignatius beat Latin by one goal earlier this season, and the two teams
are favored to meet once again in the championship game next Saturday
When St Ignatius beat Latin a few weeks ago, they set themselves up as the top seed at the UIC sectional this weekend. Led by freshman Nora Kennelly and senior Meg Lenahan, the Wolfpack play solid defense and can win low scoring games. Latin plays the same type of game, so if the two favorites end up in the championship game, defense could be the thing that helps the winning team get to state. For Latin, Kiki Diaz and Lexi Kamerman will need to get the best of Ignatius' best defender Yadi Leon and goalie Ann Carney. To meet, Latin must deal with a tough Northside Prep team, while Ignatius will take on the winner of the Morton-Young matchup. Chicago Public League teams Lane and Von Steuben also play first round games.
