LATIN

UIC Sectional Preview - BOYS
After two straight trips to state and a third place finish two years ago, #1 seed Latin has to be thinking positive heading into the UIC Sectional. Their main challenge will come from underrated #2 seed St Ignatius, who has shown a great deal of improvement this season with solid wins over teams like Loyola and Brother Rice. However, the Romans won their regular season meeting earlier in the year, and it will be both a tall order for the Wolfpack to first get to the sectional final, then deal with Latin in the final game. Ignatius may have to go through #3 Mather, who have been very tough in the Chicago Public League this season. Mther will have to face #6 seed Lane in the opening round, a team they only beat by one goal late in the season. Ignatius's opponent in the first game will be upset-minded #7 seed Northside Prep, a team on the rise late in the season. On Latin's side of the bracket, #4 seed Von Steuben has been strong in the CPL this season, and will have to be ready for fellow conference foe Young, who earned the #5 seed in the UIC Sectional. Finally, Latin will play #8 seed Lincoln Park, as Roosevelt has dropped out of the tournament since the seed meeting.
