2020-21 NCAA Men's Water Polo - IL players update - Week 9 (3/15/21 -
3/21/21)
Summary:
- #3 UCLA won their 12th NCAA title by defeating #4 USC 7-6 in a
thrilling final on Sunday. Earlier, on Saturday, UCLA upset #1 Stanford
11-10 and USC upset #2 California 12-10 in exciting semifinal action.
- Jack Otto played one quarter in goal and had 4 saves as #10 Bucknell
lost to #4 USC in the NCAA quarter finals. Otto only let in 3 goals out
of the 18 scored by USC.
Senior recognition:
Congratulations to the following college seniors from Illinois for
completing their college careers. They have done a wonderful job
balancing academics and water polo, and have represented Illinois with
distinction. Some seniors may decide to take advantage of an extra year
of eligibility granted due to the season being affected due to COVID-19.

Summary:
- Lauren Voss had 2 goals and 2 steals in #23 Santa Clara's 20-11 loss
to #19 Azusa Pacific
- Sierra Maze had 1 goal and 1 assist in 4 games for #25 Salem. The
Tigers went 4-0 over the weekend
- Zoe Salafatinos had 1 goal in 2 games for VMI
- Emily Westlove had a huge weekend for McKendree with 12 goals, 5
steals and 1 drawn exclusion in 4 games
- Hanna Good had 1 goal and 3 drawn exclusions in 2 games for Mercyuirst.
Hannah Engquist chipped in with 4 assists and 1 steal
- the Illinois contingent contributed heavily in 2 games for Carthage.
Arianna Dakuras poured in 6 goals, Meghan Fisher had 4, Alyssa Satatovic
and Taylor Woitesek scored 2 each, while Kayli Sayatovic and Mary
Gargano-Price had one each
- Stephania Lopez had a monster weekend for Connecticut College with 9
goals in 2 games
