STATE QUARTERFINALS
St Ignatius 9 Stevenson 3
Stephanie Fernandez scored 3 times, Rebecca Martinez added 2 goals, and the
Wolfpack defense caused all sorts of problems for Stevenson in a 9-3 victory
on Friday afternoon. Ignatius allowed just one goal in the first half and
built up a 7-1 advantage entering the fourth quarter en route to the win.
Karen Juarez, Maggie Maloney, Rebecca Insalaco, and Tammy Stelnicki each
scored a goal in the winning effort for the Wolfpack, who advanced to the
state semifinal round. Erin McCook tallied 2 scores and Tori St John put in
one goal in the loss for the Patriots.
Naperville Central 7 Mother McAuley 2
Abbey Kerth recorded 4 goals and Emily Sejna netted 2 scores as Naperville
Central defeated McAuley 7-2 to advance to Saturday's semifinal round. Erin
Reagan and Madison Nervig each chipped in with one score apiece in the
Redhawks' victory. Kristen Kleist and Vicky Arciniega each tallied one score
for the Mighty Macs in the losing effort.
Fenwick 12 Fremd 6
Colleen Barron registered 4 goals and Maureen Barron added 3 goals as
Fenwick overcame an early 3-0 deficit to beat Fremd 12-6 on Thursday night.
The Friars put together a 7-0 run that spanned from the end of the first
period into the second half to take control of the contest after a shaky
start. Paige Kohut and Cara Borkovec each added 2 scores and Alexa Ovalle
notched a goal in the win for the defending champs. Amy McEllen, Sam del
Prado, and Emily McCarthy each recorded 2 goals in the losing effort for the
Vikings.
New Trier 9 LWC 6
Erika Nothnagel scored 3 goals and both Isabelle Baneaux and Lindsey Siegel
recorded 2 scores as the Trevians used a late 4-0 run to pull away from
Lincoln-Way Central to earn a 9-6 win on Friday night. The Knights tied the
score at the beginning of the final period, but two quick goals from the
Trevians put them back in control. They added two more scores before LWC
could answer en route to the win. Kelsey Willian and Samantha Padavic each
tacked on a goal in New Trier's winning effort. Danijela Jackovich led the
Knights with 4 scores and Michelle Dundek and Brittany Knowlton each scored
once in the loss.
