GBS SECTIONAL
Loyola 11 Niles West 5
The Ramblers built a 4-0 halftime lead and then pulled away from Niles
West in the second half after the Wolves got to within two (5-3) in the
third quarter to advance to the state tournament with an 11-5 win. Matt
Kearney scored 4 times, Trevor Prince made 14 saves, and Cameron
Shewchuck, Jack Nickele, and Jack Schermerhorn all scored 2 times in the
victory. Kyle
Patt and Steven Renko both scored 2 goals and Matt Lefler totaled 13
saves, 6 steals, and blocked two penalty shots in the losing effort.
LWC SECTIONAL
Sandburg 12 Andrew 10
Mitch Zieler and Zach Roper both scored 4 goals to help Sandburg make a
triumphant return to the state tournament with a 12-10 victory over
Andrew. The Eagles trailed 5-4 at the half but a quick burst in the
fourth period helped them pull away from the T-Bolts to secure the win.
Alex Gacek totaled 4 goals, Eric Tamulonis and Chuck Walters each
tallied 2 scores, Andrew Wojdyla put in one goal, and Dan Cavato scored
once and led the defense with 6 steals.
LYONS SECTIONAL
Fenwick 13 Lyons 7
Danny Farmer and Ryan Masi each recorded 4 goals, Andrew Bertschy scored
3 times, and Mike Hill made 11 saves as Fenwick earned a 13-7 victory
over Lyons. Bailey Wendt and Jack Mahoney both added one score in the
win for the defending champs. George Duffy and George Lundgren each
scored 2 goals in the loss for the Lions.
METEA VALLEY SECTIONAL
Naperville North 9 Naperville Central 6
Garrett Nash, Luke Landiak, and Nolan Roberts each scored 2 goals and
Drake McClure, Gianmarco Duin, and Ryan Towers each tallied one score as
the Huskies erased an early deficit to beat Naperville Central 9-6.

MUNDELEIN SECTIONAL
Stevenson 12 Mundelein 5
Alex Kapecki and Mitchell Sokolsky both registered 3 goals and Andrew
Shashin netted 2 scores as the Patriots defeated Mundelein 12-5. Jude
Krauss led the Mustangs' offense with 3 goals in the losing effort.
PALATINE SECTIONAL
Palatine 12 Fremd 10
Omar El Hoffi totaled 5 goals and 5 assists and both Kristian Kalev and
Wally Kleinfeldt scored 3 times as Palatine fended off Fremd 12-10 to
qualify for the state tournament. Ryan Schlaiss added one goal and
Charlie Davis stopped 13 shots in the victory for the Pirates. Zach
Starkey scored 4 times and Luke Stark netted 3 scores in the loss for
the Vikings, who closed the gap to 11-10 late in the fourth period
before Palatine shut them down the rest of the way.
STAGG SECTIONAL
Brother Rice 12 Stagg 10
Matt Bachler recorded 4 goals and Dan Birmingham scored 3 times as the
Crusaders grabbed a 7-2 lead in the first half and held on to beat Stagg
12-10 to advance to the state tournament.
UIC SECTIONAL
St Ignatius 13 DLS 8
Billy Barth and Shane Hughes both recorded 4 goals and John Reyes and
Zach Blake each tallied 2 scores to lift the Wolfpack over DLS 13-8.
Gunnar Glaab also scored once in the win for SICP. Angelo Espinoza,
Danny Pedro, Jeremy Siegel, and Roberto Rodriguez all scored 2 times in
the loss for the Meteors.

GBS SECTIONAL
New Trier 7 Loyola 6
Jacqueline Glattard and Stephanie Jodloman both scored 2 goals and trio
of Kaleigh Dolan, Shannon Kent, and Natalie Goldman each scored once as
the New Trier defense put the clamps down on Loyola in the second half
to earn a 7-6 victory. The Trevians broke a 3-3 halftime tie with a 4-2
run in the third period, highlighted by Keelin Frank's penalty shot save
and Glattard's 6-on-4 goal. Marta Considine got Loyola to within one
late in the fourth quarter, but the Trevians' defense made two straight
stops to secure the win. Considine and Emily Barr both scored 2 times in
the loss for the Ramblers.
LWC SECTIONAL
LWE 9 Andrew 5
Lauren VanderVelde recorded 4 goals, Erica Mangia and Haley McCabe each notched 2 scores, and Jill
Connolly made 14 saves in the Griffins' 9-5 win over Andrew. East went on a
4-1 run that spanned most of the second half to earn the victory. Genny
McCarthy totaled 3 goals and Caily Friel netted 2 scores in the loss for
the T-Bolts.
LYONS SECTIONAL
Fenwick 11 Lyons 1
Catie Wallace and Colleen Barron combined to score 6 goals as Fenwick
knocked off Lyons 11-1 to win the LT Sectional on Saturday afternoon.
Lexi Buglio held the Lions scoreless through three quarters until
Meredith Land scored the lone goal for the hosts. Jessie Wittenberg also
made 6 saves in the loss for LT.
METEA VALLEY SECTIONAL
Naperville North 9 Naperville Central 8
Kate MacDuff scored the game-winner in the closing seconds to help send
Naperville North to the state tournament with a dramatic 9-8 victory
over Naperville Central. The Redhawks' Jessica Fox had just put in a
penalty shot with eight seconds left to help the Redhawks claw back from
an 8-5 deficit in the fourth quarter before MacDuff's heroics. Jilian
Eiken scored 6 goals to lead the Huskies' offensive attack in the win.

MUNDELEIN SECTIONAL
Stevenson 16 Mundelein 6
Melissa Gartenberg poured in 7 goals and Allison Travetto racked up 6
goals to help the Patriots avenge last season's sectional final loss to
Mundelein by beating the Mustangs 16-6. Autumn Hoang, Sara Ploch, and
Alexa Kotlyar each added one score and Becky Callen blocked 17 shots in
the win for Stevenson. Allie Boothe tallied 3 scores, Emily Garcia put
in 2 goals, and Anna Ward made 10 saves and added one score in the loss
for Mundelein.
PALATINE SECTIONAL
Palatine 9 Conant 6
Rachel Chumbook scored the eventual game-winning goal late in the fourth
quarter before the Pirates put in 2 more goals in the final minute as
Palatine earned their first trip to the state tournament after beating
Conant 9-6. Chumbook totaled 4 scores, Caitlin McHugh and Caroline
Wojtas each scored 2 times, and Kim Butler made 13 saves in the Pirates'
victory. Callie Gilsenan added one score in the winning effort. Kaitlyn
Claffey netted 3 goals while Angie Skittone, Carmen Rosas, and Miranda
Fenlon each scored once in the loss for the Cougars. Maddy Demaret also
made 13 saves to lead the Cougars' defense.
STAGG SECTIONAL
Mother McAuley 9 Bremen 7 (OT)
Fran Williamson scored the game-winning goal with 1:15 left in overtime
and Clare Bryar sealed the win with a lob shot as the Mighty Macs used a
furious second half rally to stun Bremen 9-7. Hennigan led the McAuley
offense with 3 goals, including two key goals during a 3-0 run that
helped the Macs overcome a 6-3 deficit heading into the fourth quarter.
MaryJune O'Connell also scored 2 times in the win for McAuley. Hannah
Schultz recorded 4 goals and Sarah Minnich netted 2 scores in the loss
for the Red Jaguars.
UIC SECTIONAL
St Ignatius 9 Evanston 3
Tammy Stelnicki recorded 4 goals and Diana Fernandez netted 2 scores as
the defending champions got past Evanston 9-3 on Saturday afternoon.
Beca Martinez, Maggie Maloney, and Nikol Lagodzinska each added one
score and Jenny Stelnicki stopped 6 shots in the winning effort for SICP.
Courtney Gregori, Madison Collins, and Karissa McBride each tallied one
score in the loss for the Wildkits.
