2016 SECTIONALS
More than 150 boys and girls teams will begin their quest for a chance to advance to the state tournament, starting with the sectional play-in games on May 9 & 10.

 

The boys' quarterfinal action starts on May 11, followed by the girls' quarterfinal games on May 12. The sectional semifinals are played on May 13, with the sectional final games all taking place on Saturday, May 14.

Links to every sectional site are provided below. These will be updated continuously with schedules, game times, and scores/recaps throughout the week of sectionals. At the end of the week, we will have Sectional Ballers and the All-Sectional Teams (as soon as they are submitted to us from each sectional site).

Collin Kapecki scored 5 goals and both Andrew Shashin and Kurt Holzer scored 4 times as Stevenson got past McHenry 25-13. Kevin Braun scored 5 goals and Jackson Smith netted 3 scores in the loss.

 

Mundelein 17 Wheeling 8

Mike Ward registered 5 goals and Eric Nielsen scored 4 times in the Mustangs' 17-8 win over Wheeling. Nate Reiff scored 4 times in the losing effort.

 

 

Fremd 17 Prospect 3

Robert DePau scored 6 goals and Dylan Assmann notched 5 scores in the Vikings' 17-3 win over Prospect.

 

Barrington 16 Conant 5

Tom Derken scored 7 goals and both John Fischer and Mitch Gavars scored 3 goals in the Broncos' 16-5 victory over Conant.

 

 

New Trier 12 Niles West 3

Danilo Scekic scored 4 goals and both Charlie Ryan and Henry Yavitt put in 2 scores as the Trevians beat Niles West 12-3.

 

Glenbrook South 6 Loyola 2

Peter Dales celebrated his birthday with 2 scores and Brian Johnson made 13 saves as the Titans knocked off Loyola 6-2.

 

 

Lincoln-Way Central 5 Sandburg 4

Matt Klock registered 2 scores while Brendan Kay, Cody Torres and Dylan Sterling each scored once in the Knights' 5-4 win over Sandburg. Jake Burke made 13 saves in the winning effort.

 

 

Naperville North 20 Neuqua Valley 7

Matt Magee and Reilly McDonnell each scored 4 times and both Cole Jacobs and Spencer Wallace netted 3 goals in the Huskies' 20-7 triumph over Neuqua Valley.

 

Naperville Central 19 Hinsdale South 3

Kyle Jackson, Nick Walker and Philip Emden each scored 2 goals and Kent Emden made 18 saves in the Redhawks' 19-3 win over Hinsdale South.

 

 

St Ignatius 13 Von Steuben 9

Shane Hughes netted 5 goals, Andreas Christy scored 3 times and Luke Rothschield and Sam Enger made 10 saves in the Wolfpack's 13-9 win over Von Steuben. Chris Iza tallied 5 scores and Ethan Hamp scored 3 times in the losing effort.

 

Whitney Young 12 DLS 10

Dan Rusca and Duncan McDonald each tallied 4 scores to lead the Dolphins past DLS 12-10. Shane Nagle and Rodrigo Gonzalez scored 3 goals apiece in the loss for the Meteors.

 

 

York 17 St Patrick 7

Alex Marlott, Luke Nowak and Tim Evely each scored 4 goals to lead the Dukes past St Patrick 17-7. Joe Gibson scored 2 goals and drew 3 ejections while John Sandman and Michael Taylor each scored 2 goals in the loss for the Shamrocks.

 

Fenwick 15 Oak Park 9

Noah Groll and Conor Hendzel each racked up 3 scores while the trio of Luis Murphy, Mickey McGuire and Payton Comstock each scored 2 times in the Friars' 15-9 win over Oak Park. Lawrence Cozzi scored 4 times and Kevin Obrecht stopped 8 shots in the losing effort.

 


 

 

 

Stevenson 14 Palatine 2

Allison Travetto scored 4 goals, Claire Haas and Eileen Hoang each scored 3 goals and Lauren Burns made 13 saves to help the Patriots get past Palatine 14-2. Kelsey Hank and Mathilde Mogensen each scored once in the loss for the Pirates.

 

Highland Park 9 Libertyville 3

Emma Gelberg scored 4 goals, Natalie Gelberg netted 2 scores and Abbey Hodges stopped 12 shots in the Lady Giants' 9-3 triumph over Libertyville. Sara Clark scored 2 goals, Jess Lanty scored once and Maddie Bolling made 11 saves in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

 

Fremd 6 Meadows 4

Becca Rutkowski and Emily Kini each scored 2 goals and Emma Jeronimus made 14 saves in the Vikings' 6-4 win over Meadows. Karolina Urban and Paulina Pappas both added 2 scores in the victory. Maggie Goodwin tallied 3 scores and Lizzie Hardt recorded one goal in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Conant 7 Barrington 6

Sam Wooley scored with :26 seconds left in regulation and totaled 5 scores as the Cougars earned a 7-6 victory over Barrington. Wolley scored 5 goals and Paulina Chowaniec scored 2 goals in the victory. Mia Latimer scored 3 times, Andrea Potgieter scored 2 goals and Ellie Connors made 12 saves in the loss.

 

 

New Trier 15 Maine West 2

Lauren Barrett and the Trevians earned a 15-2 victory over Maine West to move on to the sectional finals on Saturday.

 

Evanston 8 Loyola 7

Becca Schumm scored 3 goals, Riley Hughes netted 2 goals and Olivia Everhart made 12 saves as the Wildkits earned an 8-7 comeback victory over Loyola. Claire Voss tallied 3 scores in the losing effort.

Lincoln-Way North 18 Sandburg 6

Jess Larson scored 6 goals, Cassidy Degraff put in 5 scores and Reis Parkinson scored 3 times as North earned an 18-6 victory over Sandburg. Julia Porco also scored 2 goals for the winners.

 

Lincoln-Way East 9 Bremen 7

The Griffins came through with a 9-7 victory to advance to the sectional finals against LWN.

 

 

Mother McAuley 15 Stagg 4

Paulina Correa notched 4 scores and both Chloe Ryan and Kate Fischer scored 3 times as the Mighty Macs beat Stagg 15-4. Jillian Mueller also scored 2 goals for the victors.

 

Lyons 14 Richards 9

Annika Moore, Kaysie Stuba and Maddie Cordell each scored 3 goals and Madie Janik made 10 saves as the Lions defeated Richards 14-9.

 

 

Naperville Central 7 STC North 4

Emily Westlove and Kaela Codo each scored 3 goals to lead the Redhawks to a 7-4 win over STC North. Brittany Veto, Hannah Springer and Sarah Gibson each scored once and Claire Rich stopped 6 shots in the losing effort.

 

Naperville North 8 Neuqua Valley 4

The Huskies pulled away from the Wildcats in the second half to earn an 8-4 victory on Friday evening. Catherine Carroll scored 3 goals, Emily Nelmark scored once and Issi French made 14 saves in the loss.

 

 

St Ignatius 5 Whitney Young 0

The Wolfpack were the first team to advance to the sectional semifinals after a 5-0 forfeit win over Young.

 

Jones-Payton 8 Lane 7

The Lady Eagles held off a late rally by the Indians to emerge with an 8-7 victory.

 

 

Oak Park 18 Riverside-Brookfield 3

Jilly Cronin scored 5 goals and Tamsen Cronin notched 3 scores in the Huskies' 18-3 triumph over R-B. Genevieve Curry, Nell Behr and Valerie Lundeen each added 2 scores for the winners. Marisa Sosa, Keri Burke and Hannah Flynn each scored once in the loss for the Bulldogs.

 

Fenwick 12 York 6

Clare Durkin recorded 4 goals, Eryn Kulik scored 2 times and both Catie Wallace and Kelly Frumkin put in 2 goals in the Friars' 12-6 comeback win over York. Grace Achepohl scored 3 goals and Carli York tallied 2 scores in the loss.
