2015 SECTIONALS
More than 150 boys and girls teams will begin their quest for a chance to advance to the state tournament, starting with the sectional play-in games on May 11 & 12.

 

The girls' quarterfinal action starts on May 13, followed by the boys' quarterfinal games on May 14. The sectional semifinals are played on May 15, with the sectional final games all taking place on Saturday, May 16.

Links to every sectional site are provided below. These will be updated continuously with schedules, game times, and scores/recaps throughout the week of sectionals. At the end of the week, we will have Sectional Ballers and the All-Sectional Teams (as soon as they are submitted to us from each sectional site).

BUFFALO GROVE SECTIONAL

Stevenson 21 Highland Park 4

Allison Travetto scored 4 goals and the trio of Autumn Hoang, Claire Haas and Melissa Gartenberg each tallied 3 scores in the Patriots' 21-4 victory over Highland Park. Alex Adams and Jordyn Landua each put in 2 goals while Lauren Burns and Brigitte Lefebvre combined to stop 12 shots for the winners. Abbey Hodges, Alison Perlman, Danni Cole and Natalie Gelberg each scored once and Haley Fucoo blocked 8 shots in the loss for the Lady Giants.

 

Lake Forest 7 Mundelein 3

Abby Warren registered 3 goals while Alyssa Hollander, Catherine Pompe, Claire Wieland and Madeleine Pompe each added one goal in the Scouts' 7-3 triumph over Mundelein. Lauren Blake netted 2 goals and Abbie Lukas scored once in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Palatine 8 Buffalo Grove 2

Caroline Wojtas recorded 5 goals and Tess O'Brien stopped 12 shots to lead the Pirates past BG 8-2. Caitlin McHugh, Kristin Anderson and Mathilde Mogensen each added one goal in the winning effort.

 

Wheeling 18 Libertyville 7

Theresa Godlewski totaled 9 goals and Elizabeth Wargo made 12 saves in the Wildcats' 18-7 victory over Libertyville. Argelia Diaz added 4 goals, Shannon Richards scored 3 times while Jenna Pink and Juliana Isayeva both scored once in the win.

 

 

FENWICK SECTIONAL

Fenwick 5 Hubbard 0

The defending champions accepted the gift of a forfeit by Hubbard and were technically the first team to advance to the sectional semifinals on Wednesday.

 

Riverside-Brookfield 11 Morton 6

Hannah Flynn totaled 6 goals to lead the Bulldogs past Morton 11-6 in the sectional quarterfinal round. Stephanie Torres notched 4 scores in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Oak Park 16 Westinghouse 2

Mia Andreoli scored 3 goals to lead a balanced offensive attack as the Huskies beat Westinghouse 16-2. Clare Darnall, Genevieve Curry and Jordin Hale each added 2 goals in the win. Adriana Izquierdo tallied both goals in the losing effort.

 

 

GBN SECTIONAL

New Trier 12 Niles West 0

Lauren Barrett tallied 3 scores while Keelin Frank and Lauren Engelhard combined to make 11 saves in a 12-0 shutout win over Niles West. Emma Valdiserri and Stephanie Jodloman each scored 2 goals while Isabel Riggio, Kaleigh Dolan, Kami Grochowski, Maria Breen and Sarah Caywood all netted one goal in the Trevians' victory.

 

Maine West 13 Maine South 11

Emily Morrison totaled 5 goals, Kristen Burger netted 4 goals and Lilly Jensen stopped 24 shots as Maine West held off Maine South 13-11. Annie Pichiotti and Holly Wasicak each added 2 goals while Morrison dished out 5 assists for the winners. Kalin Bender scored 4 times, Sammy Zaug registered 3 scores and Kamila Orzech put in 2 goals in the losing effort.

 

Glenbrook North 18 Maine East 10

Lindsay Fraser recorded 10 goals and both Colleen Doolan and Patti Grod scored 3 times in the Spartans' 18-10 victory over Maine East. Emily Callahan and Lauren Sulkowski each added one goal in the win.

 

 

LWN SECTIONAL

Lincoln-Way East 5 Homewood-Flossmoor 3

Katie Flaherty broke a 1-1 deadlock in the second period to start a 3-0 run for the Griffins that extended until the fourth quarter as LWE defeated H-F 5-3 on Wednesday. Zoe Spada scored 2 goals while Flaherty, Julia Esparza and Nicole McCabe each scored once for East. Rebecca Tanner blocked 12 shots while Alexis Anderson, Andrea Stilts and Susanna Reese each scored once in the loss for the Vikings.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 13 Bradley 3

Cailey Davern, Delaney Shepard and Kim Bernhard each netted 3 goals, Alli Ramirez scored 2 times and both Kenzie Applequist and Nikki Howe tallied 2 goals apiece in the Knights' 13-3 victory over Bradley.

 

 

LYONS SECTIONAL

Lyons 13 Argo 0

Megan Kotil recorded 4 goals and Madie Janik stopped 6 shots as the Lions earned a 13-0 shutout victory over Argo on Wednesday. Grace Wackerman, Julia Cohen and Kaysie Stuba each scored 2 goals while Caroline Walsh totaled 4 steals and a goal in the win. Annika Moore and Emma Hirt rounded one the LT scoring with one goal apiece for the winners.

 

Mother McAuley 16 Morgan Park 3

Mary Grace Golon tallied 4 scores and both Courtney Franko and Jill Mueller scored 2 times in the Mighty Macs' 16-3 victory over Morgan Park. Devin Flaherty and Geena Peyton combined to make 8 saves in the winning effort.

 

 

NEUQUA VALLEY SECTIONAL

Naperville North 17 Metea Valley 3

Katie Horn totaled 6 goals and Jilian Eiken celebrated her birthday with a 4-goal effort as the Huskies beat Metea Valley 17-3. Alli Horn and Lauren Liberio each scored 3 times as well for the sectional's top seed.

Abbie Chamberlain, Alex Cerra and Leah Hummel each tallied one score in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Neuqua Valley 6 STC East 5

Morgan Miller tallied 2 scores, Nicole Walsh provided lockdown defense and Issi French made 14 saves to help the Wildcats fend off STC North 6-5 on Wednesday evening. Catherine Carroll, Gabby Koopman and Zoe Salafatinos each tallied one goal as well for the victors. Katie Quinn totaled 2 goals and 7 steals to lead the North Stars in the one-goal loss. Katie Difiglio, Sarah Gibson and Monica Guyett each added one score while Claire Rich made 7 saves for North.

 

Sandburg 17 STC East 2

Sarah Dolitsky recorded 8 goals and both Mary Mangila and Stephanie Pappas each tallied 3 scores as the Eagles beat STC East 17-2. Lexy Kos scored both goals in the loss for the Saints.

 

Naperville Central 15 Waubonsie Valley 4

Kaela Codo poured in 7 goals, Emily Westlove netted 3 goals and Abbey Rosenstiel notched 2 scores to help the Redhawks beat Waubonsie Valley 15-4. Faith Vandercar also stopped 9 shots in the win for NC. Alex Triko registered 3 scores to lead the Warriors' offense.

 

 

SCHAUMBURG SECTIONAL

Conant 15 Elk Grove 3

Carmen Rosas scored 7 goals and Emily Weingart added 3 scores as the Cougars topped Elk Grove 15-2 to advance to the sectional semifinal round. Paulina Chowaniec added 2 scores while Barbra Smigla, Sam Wooley and Nicole Mihaylova each added one goal for the victors. Maddy Demaret stopped 12 shots and made 3 steals as well for Conant. Lilly Lawrin, Lindsey Hendren and Nicole Adams each put in one score in the loss for the Grenadiers.

 

Schaumburg 7 Barrington 5

Hannah Pearson scored the game-winning goal with 2:21 remaining and Katrina Vargo tacked on a late goal for insurance purposes in the final minute of the Saxons' 7-5 win over Barrington. Mia Latimer put in 4 goals to lead the Fillies' offense, including a second-half goal that gave her squad a 5-4 lead. Catherine Lynch tied things up late in the third quarter for the hosts, who relied on Pearson's second goal to secure the win and advance to the sectional semifinals. Becca Kasner, Brittney Vasquez and Danielle Grubb each added one goal in the win for Schaumburg. Andrea Potgeiter also recorded one goal in the first half for Barrington.

 

Prospect 16 Hersey 5

Danielle McCallister scored 5 goals and both Gracie Dix and Niki Neumann scored 4 times to lead Prospect past Hersey 16-5. Lauren Broz blocked 12 shots and also stopped a penalty attempt in the win. Katie Lutz led the Huskies with 3 scores in the loss.

 

Fremd 10 Meadows 2

Emma Hoffman scored 4 goals, Nicole Warnstedt notched 2 scores and Emma Jeronimus made 18 saves in the Vikings' 10-2 win over Meadows. Caitlin Byrd, Emily Kini, Nicole Degla and Tami Carlson each put in one score as well for the winners.

 

 

ST IGNATIUS SECTIONAL

St Ignatius 14 Amundsen 1

Georgia Goldrick notched 3 scores while Brianna Guzman, Carson Goldrick and Clara Lindland each put in 2 scores in the Wolfpack's 14-1 victory over Amundsen. Dalilah Flores also registered her first career goal in the playoff win for the hosts.

 

Northside 15 Jones-Payton 7

Marti Hale scored 5 goals and both Heather Walker and Jessica Skipper scored 3 times in the Mustangs' 15-7 win over Jones-Payton. Rebekah Kissel added 2 scores while Fallon Konow stopped 12 shots in the win.

 

Evanston 17 Latin 2

Becca Schumm totaled 5 goals and Olivia Everhart stopped 14 shots and made 4 steals as the Wildkits defeated Latin 17-2. Millie Rosen added 2 goals in the winning effort for Evanston.
