GBS SECTIONAL
Glenbrook South 8 Maine West 5
Q1: Dana Grad and Margaret Schneider both scored in the opening quarter
to give the Titans a 2-1 lead.
Q2: Rema Abu-Hashim scored midway through the second period to give GBS
a 3-2 lead at the half.
Q3: The Warriors draw even (3-3) on Emily Morrison's goal, but Abu-Hashim
put GBS back ahead 4-3.
Q4: Rachel Spector and Diana Capota score early goals to give the Titans
a 6-3 advantage...the Warriors respond but Abu-Hashim's third score
makes it 7-4. Annie Picchiotti gets West back to within two goals of the
hosts, but Diana Capota's second goal gives the Titans' an 8-5 lead,
which they would hold onto for the win.
RECAP
Rema Abu-Hashim scored 3 goals and Diana Capota scored 2 times to lead
the Titans to an 8-5 win over Maine West on Tuesday. South held onto the
lead until early in the third period when the Warriors tied the score at
3-3, but Abu-Hashim's key goal before the end of the period gave the
Titans a lead they would never relinquish. Dana Grad, Margaret
Schneider, and Rachel Spector each added one goal in the win. Statistics

PALATINE SECTIONAL
Hoffman 17 Elk Grove 14 (OT)
Hoffman outlasted Elk Grove 17-14 in overtime on Tuesday to earn their
first win of the 2014 season and advance to the quarterfinal round of
the Palatine Sectional. Jessica Sullivan scored 5 goals, including 3 key
goals in the extra session, helping the Hawks outscore the Grenadiers
4-1 in overtime. Morales Diaz notched 4 scores and both Megan Bonney and
Zoe Dorband each tallied 3 goals in the win for Hoffman. Allie Ouimet
and Sydney Elkins also scored once in the winning effort, while goalie
Nicole Kasman made 5 blocks on the defensive end. Dominika Struk poured
in 10 goals in the loss for the Grenadiers.
