FENWICK SECTIONAL
(1) Fenwick 11 (2) Lyons 8
Matt Farmer made a triumphant return to the Fenwick lineup with 6
goals as the Friars beat Lyons 11-8 to deny last year's champions
from a return trip to the state tournament. Danny Farmer chipped in
with 2 scores and the trio of Matt Bresnahan, Ryan Masi, and Tony
Perez each scored once. Tommy McGuire made 10 saves and blocked a
penalty shot in the winning effort. Joe Shannon recorded 3 goals,
Josh Hirt and Peter Dore each netted 2 scores, and Sean McMahon
scored once in the loss for the Lions.
QUARTER 1
Matt Farmer came out of the blocks with three first quarter goals,
but Joe Shannon, Peter Dore, and Sean McMahon each scored to tie the
game at 3-3 at the end of one.
QUARTER 2
Tony Perez and Josh Hirt traded goals in the opening stages of the
second quarter. Danny Farmer then scored an unassisted goal to give
the Friars a 5-4 lead midway through the period. Shannon recorded
his second goal to answer back and tie the score at 5-5. In the
closing stages of the half, Ryan Masi scored after an ejection and
Matt Farmer converted a penalty to give Fenwick a 7-5 halftime
advantage.
QUARTER 3
Peter Dore got the Lions off to a great start with an early goal,
but Matt Bresnahan had an answer on the other end to keep Fenwick
ahead by two goals. Danny Farmer then added his second goal of the
game to increase the Friars' lead to 9-6. Hirt notched his second
goal late in the period to cut the lead to 9-7. The quarter ended
with Matt Farmer scoring his fifth goal of the contest to give
Fenwick a 10-7 lead.
QUARTER 4
After a nervy opening to the fourth quarter, Matt Farmer notched his
sixth goal from open play to give the Friars a commanding 11-7 lead.
The Friars' defense then found a way to keep the Lions from getting
solid scoring chances on the other end, as a key stop with just
under two minutes to play keeps them ahead by four goals with just a
few possessions remaining for both teams. Shannon scored on Lyons'
next chance to trim the lead to 11-8.
FREMD SECTIONAL
(1) Conant 11 (3) Hoffman 5
The Hawks kept it close in the first half, but the Cougars outscored
the underdogs 9-3 in the second half to pull away and earn an 11-5
victory over their in-town rivals on Saturday. The teams went to
halftime tied at 2-2 and Hoffman stayed within two goals late in the
third period. The Conant defense then turned up the intensity,
holding the Hawks scoreless the rest of the way as they closed
things out with a 4-0 run. Jon Burke scored 4 goals and Connor
Schmitz put in 2 scores in the win for Conant. Adam Pasnicki and
Sang Han each recorded 2 goals, Salman Akthar added one score, and
Logan Gizel blocked 14 shots in the loss for the Hawks.
GBN SECTIONAL
(1) New Trier 11 (2) Loyola 9
Jordan Palmer scored 4 goals, Dano Johnson netted 3 scores, and John
Schulz put in 2 scores to help the Trevians stave off a late rally
from the Ramblers to claim an 11-9 victory on Saturday. New Trier
built a 6-2 lead by halftime, but the Ramblers came on strong with a
4-1 run to cut the Trevians' lead to one to make for some nervous
moments for the top seed. The New Trier defense buckled down from
that point on and Loyola seemingly ran out of chances after exerting
so much energy in mounting their third quarter comeback. Cameron
Shewchuck scored 3 goals and both Ben Pasquesi and Jack Nickele
notched 2 scores in the loss for Loyola.
LWN SECTIONAL
(1) Homewood-Flossmoor 9 (3) Lockport 8
Jakobi McClellan made a crucial save at the buzzer in the second overtime
period to deny Lockport and give the Vikings a 9-8 win on Saturday. H-F
turned the ball with just a few seconds left and a one goal lead but Dan
Oldendorf had enough time for one last-gasp attempt, which McClellan got
his hands on to save the day. The Vikings trailed 6-4 in the fourth
quarter before Kevin Kuchta scored two straight goals to tie the score
with just over two minutes remaining. Broc Thompson would give the Vikings
the lead moments later, but Jake Elias sent the game to overtime with a
late goal for the Porters. Kuchta scored once in each overtime period to
give H-F a two goal lead, but Oldendorf cut the advantage to one with one
minute left in the second overtime period to setup the thrilling final
moments.
Kuchta totaled 7 goals, while Mike
Mitchell and Broc Thompson each chipped in with one goal. McClellan
totaled 18 saves and the Vikings' defense amassed 24 steals in the win.
Dan Oldendorf, Jake Elias, and Jake Knowles each scored 2 times and John
Goetz saved 10 shots in the loss.
MUNDELEIN SECTIONAL
(1) Stevenson 9 (3) Palatine 7
Remy Dalloul scored the first four goals for Stevenson and Varun
Mummadi added 2 key goals in the final period as Stevenson earned a
hard-fought 9-7 victory over Palatine. Josh Weisberg, Mitchell
Sokolsky, and Taylor Baretz each added one score in the win for the
Patriots. Omar El Hoffi helped keep the Pirates in the game with 3
scores, while Christian Kalfas added two fourth-quarter goals and
both Alex Brons and Kristian Kalev scored once in the loss for
Palatine.
QUARTER 1
Remy Dalloul drew a foul and scored a quick goal to give Stevenson a
1-0 lead at the end of the opening quarter.
QUARTER 2
Dalloul converted his second goal of the game to give Stevenson a
2-0 lead. Kristian Kalev responded with a goal after an ejection to
cut the lead in half.
QUARTER 3
Omar El Hoffi tied the game at 2-2 with a tip-in goal early in the
period for Palatine. Dalloul responded with 2 goals for the
Patriots, while El Hoffi notched a goal for the Pirates as the score
sat at 4-3 late in the period. Mitchell Sokolsky got on the board
with his first to give Stevenson a narrow 5-3 advantage. The Pirates
then got within a goal on El Hoffi's third score of the game with
two minutes left in the third period. Alex Brons tied the game with
a goal from two meters with 0:40 left until the final quarter, and
neither team could convert in the closing seconds of the period.
QUARTER 4
Both defenses hold up on each team's first possession and we are
tied with one minute gone in the last quarter. Then, Josh Weisberg
and Varun Mummadi scored on consecutive trips to give the Patriots a
7-5 lead. Taylor Baretz scored midway through the period as
Stevenson started to take control of the game. Christian Kalfas
netted a breakaway goal with two minutes remaining to trim the
Patriots' lead to 8-6. Mummadi iced the game with a goal from
outside nine meters to give Stevenson a 9-6 advantage with just one
minute remaining in regulation. Kalfas scored a consolation goal in
the waning seconds, but it's not enough as Stevenson will play in
the state tournament after a 9-7 win over Palatine.
NEUQUA SECTIONAL
(1) Naperville North 18 (3) Hinsdale Central 5
Eric Curia recorded 5 goals, Gianmarco Duin and Nolan Roberts each tallied

18-5 win over Hinsdale Central to return to state for the second straight
year. George Koulouris recorded 2 goals in the loss for the Red Devils.
Hinsdale Central started out with the lead in the opening minute of the
contest after Dan Ciciora's goal. The Huskies answered quickly with a 3-0
run, but Central cut the lead to 3-2 near the end of the quarter on a
penalty shot converted by Koulouris. That was as close as the Red Devils
would get, as North scored five straight goals to claim an 8-2 lead at
halftime. The defending sectional champs kept the pressure on in the
second half, including a 6-1 run during the third quarter, en route to the
double-digit victory.

(1) Sandburg 6
Brother Rice survived a thriller with Sandburg to earn a trip to the state
tournament with a 7-6 win on Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders trailed 3-0
after the opening period, then relinquished the lead to a furious mid-game
rally from Brother Rice. The Eagles responded with run of their own, tying
the game with three minutes remaining, but the Crusaders' Dave Jackson
scored the game-winner with just nine seconds left off a pass from Matt
Bachler before Rice made a stop in the final seconds to secure the win.
Dan Birmingham and Dan Whalen both scored 2 goals and both Kevin Mayer and
Ian Disteldorf notched one score in the win for Rice. Cal Kennedy also
blocked 12 shots in the Crusaders' dramatic win. Kevin Tunney and Mike

by one goal early on, the Fillies came storming back to take a 5-3

The Fillies methodically increased their advantage to 5-3 at
halftime and outscored Fremd 6-3 through most of the second half to
build their advantage to 11-6 in the fourth quarter. A furious rally
by the Vikings saw them close the gap to just two goals with two
minutes remaining, but the Fillies defense made three key stops to
secure the win and claim a state tournament berth. Meckert recorded

earlier, Alexana Astor converted a penalty shot to tie the game after
