GIRLS

Barrington Sectional

Fremd 19 Meadows 5

Emily McCarthy scored 4 times and 11 other players recorded goals in Fremd's 19-5 victory over Meadows. Lauren Zambelli, Megan Kennedy, Sam Matuszewski, and Taylor Spoonholtz each scored 2 goals for the Vikings, while Julie Conrath and Samantha DiCanio combined to make 11 saves in the win. Emily Lebuhn tallied 4 scores in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Hersey 13 Conant 10

Christine Rovani recorded 7 goals to help Hersey hold off Conant 13-10 on Wednesday. Katelyn Derrig and Maura Kelly each added 2 scores for the Huskies, while goalie Cory Hall made 7 blocks in the win. Katie Varga scored 3 times, Gina Iaffaldano and Jessica Southern both tallied 2 goals, and Lucie Banahan made 12 saves in the loss for the Cougars.

 

Schaumburg 8 Hoffman 7

Angie Fee, Ashley Johnson, and Samantha Schuckles each tallied 2 scores as Schaumburg edged Hoffman 8-7. The Hawks made a stop with just nine seconds remaining while trailing by a goal, but could not score on the other end before time expired. Atheena Wagner also made 11 saves in the win for the Saxons. Dorota Knaga, Rachael Gallo, and Sharon Sturnfield each scored 2 goals in the loss, while goalie Alex Vick made 7 saves for Hoffman.

 

Barrington 7 St Viator 6 (OT)

Trailing 3-1 at halftime, St Viator held the home team scoreless for the entire third quarter and put together a 4-0 run to take a 5-3 lead into the final period. Barrington bounced back, outscoring the Lions 3-1 in the last seven minutes to send the game to extra time. In overtime, Chloe Padula scored the lone goal to help the Fillies advance to the sectional semifinals with a 7-6 win over St Viator. Lisa Danhauer led Barrington with 3 goals, while goalie Brooke Fanslow made 9 saves in the win. Eileen Mallof scored 2 times and Stephanie Nolan stopped 12 shots in the loss for the Lions.

 

Fenwick Sectional

Fenwick 5 Foreman 0

The hosts moved on the semifinal round when Foreman dropped out of the competition after being unable to field a complete team.

 

Oak Park 17 Lindblom 1

Kimmy Stefanik totaled 5 goals and Mary Clare Stannard added 3 scored in Oak Park's 17-1 triumph over Lindblom. Alison Gerber and Paula Stocco each added 2 goals and goalie Lauren Sloninger made 7 saves in the Huskies' win.

 

Resurrection 15 Maria 0

Colleen Koepte registered 4 goals to lead Resurrection to a 15-0 shutout win over Maria.

 

GBN Sectional

Loyola 17 Maine East 3

Brittany Wallace and Evan Swenson combined to score the first 8 goals of the game as Loyola rolled to a 17-3 win over Maine East on Wednesday. Jessica Braslavsky, Joanna Gwizdz, and Maria Protic each scored once in the loss for the Blue Demons.

 

Prospect 17 Glenbrook North 7

Meg Dix scored 5 goals and Jessica Cavaiani and Tori Shields each added 3 scores as Prospect beat GBN 17-7. Kallie Shields and Tatiana Hayes both put in 2 goals in the win for the Knights. Margot Tuchler tallied 4 scores in the loss for the Spartans.

 

Evanston 15 Maine South 3

Ellis O'Connor scored 9 goals and Abby Bailey added 3 scores to lead Evanston to a 15-3 win over Maine South.

 

New Trier 14 Glenbrook South 5

Erika Nothnagel registered 5 scores and Anna Horstkotte and Isabelle Baneaux each scored 3 times in New Trier's 14-5 victory over GBS. Margeaux Wysockey also made 9 saves in the Trevians' win. Anna Veselovsky scored 3 goals in the loss for the Titans.

 

LWN Sectional

Homewood-Flossmoor 18 Lincoln-Way West 4

Top-seeded H-F cruised to an 18-4 win over LWW in the quarterfinal round, with ten different players recording goals to send them to the semifinals. Rebecca Mathews led the way with 8 goals, Hannah Ongman contributed 3 scores, and Michelle Mayer chipped in with 2 goals and 5 assists in the Vikings' win. Sophie Schloen also made 14 saves in the win for H-F. The Warriors actually led 2-1 in the first quarter before the Vikings took control of the game later in the period. LWW was led by Lauren Majewski (3 goals) and Becca Beeson (7 saves).

 

Andrew 11 Marian 8

Allie Fisher totaled 4 scores and Jordan Bartolini made 11 saves to help lift Andrew past Marian 11-8. The T-Bolts outscored the Spartans 5-2 in the final period to break a 6-6 deadlock to earn the victory. Abigail Wrobel and Kelly Baumgartner both added 2 scores in the win for Andrew. Carlee Weiser scored 4 times and Devin Green stopped 14 shots in the loss for the Spartans.

 

Bremen 12 Lincoln-Way North 10

Emma Martinus totaled 6 goals and Hannah Schultz added 4 scores to lead Bremen to a 12-10 win over LWN. Jenna Tasic scored 4 times and Sam Klosak tallied 2 scores in the loss for the Phoenix.

 

Lincoln-Way East 15 Lincoln-Way Central 7

Mary Reilly scored 7 times and Emily Koss added 3 scores to lead LWE past LWC 15-7 on Wednesday night. Brittany Becvar and Zoe McCabe both added 2 scores in the win for the Griffins. Danijela Jackovich recorded 6 goals and Brittany Knowlton tacked on a goal for the Knights in the losing effort.

 

Lyons Sectional

Richards 22 Stagg 9

Lisa Gorski totaled 9 goals and Lauren Gorski stopped 13 shots to lead Richards to a 22-9 win over Stagg. Liz Hadhazy notched 5 scores in the losing effort for the Chargers.

 

Sandburg 20 Morgan Park 3

Jamie Pappanastos poured in 10 goals to lead Sandburg to a 20-3 victory over Morgan Park on Wednesday. Abby Higgins added 3 scores for the Eagles, while seven other players notched one score each in the win. Korey Flynn also made 9 saves in the win for Sandburg.

 

Neuqua Sectional

Naperville Central 18 Lockport 1

Emily Sejna scored 4 goals and Julia Campbell made 13 saves and allowed one goal as Naperville Central defeated Lockport 18-1. Abbey Kerth, Jenny Doyle, Lauren Gunn, Madison Nervig, and Robyn Stanley each added 2 scores in the Redhawks' win. Liz Latka scored the lone goal in the losing effort for the Porters.

 

Neuqua Valley 9 Metea Valley 3

With the score tied at 3-3 entering the final period, Neuqua Valley put together a remarkable 6-0 run to pull away from a stingy Metea Valley defense to earn a 9-3 victory on Wednesday night. Megan Russell and Rachel Lehman each scored 3 goals to lead NV to the win, while Meghan Gradle made 5 saves and totaled 4 steals while allowing her lowest goal total for the season. Lizzie Hollopeter scored 2 times and Mia Palladino added a goal in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Waubonsie Valley 9 Hinsdale South 5

Alex White and Lauren Stercay each scored 4 times to lead Waubonsie Valley to a 9-5 victory over Hinsdale South. EB Keeve also registered 19 saves and 4 assists in the win for the Warriors. Eleni Murphy put in 4 scores in the loss for the Hornets.

 

Naperville North 5 Hinsdale Central 4

Megan Nerud scored 2 goals and Naperville North held off a late rally from Hinsdale Central to earn a 5-4 victory in the final game of the night at the Neuqua Sectional. Sarah Pircon scored all 4 goals in the loss for the Red Devils.

 

UIC Sectional

St Ignatius 5 DeLaSalle 0

Top-seeded St Ignatius advanced to the semifinal round after DeLaSalle was not able to field a full team for their first round game.

 

Latin 8 Young 2

Ashley Henderson scored 4 times as Latin earned an 8-2 victory over Young on Wednesday.

 

Lane 14 Juarez 3

Cassidy O'Connell and Megan DeGuzman each scored 2 times and nine other players tallied goals as Lane topped Juarez 14-3 on Wednesday night. Dafne Hernandez put in 3 scores in the loss for the Lady Eagles.

 

Northside 14 Payton 1

Cecile Franke made 11 saves and allowed just one goal and ten different players recorded goals for Northside as they defeated Payton 14-1. Megan Gillespie, Meghan Quigley, Tammy Saowapak, and Sam Hoffmann each tallied 2 scores in the win, while Rhyan White scored once and made 7 steals for the Mustangs.

 

Vernon Hills Sectional

Mundelein 9 Buffalo Grove 4

Alexis Jones recorded 6 goals and Emily Tylka stopped 10 shots as Mundelein knocked off Buffalo Grove 9-4 on Wednesday night. Alexis Philbrick, Amy Klink, and Sarah Honda also tallied one goal each for the Mustangs. Angela Rodriguez, Kristina Pinakidis, Sarah Fasching, and Vieve Patrick each scored once in the loss for BG.

 

Vernon Hills 10 Libertyville 8

Anna Lebiedzinski scored 6 goals to lead Vernon Hills to a 10-8 win over Libertyville. Gena Lopez also made 8 saves in the win for the Cougars. Julie Ahlgrim, Molly Bruns, and Sam Voelker each scored 2 times in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

Stevenson 18 Deer Park 1

Karen Lowry registered 5 goals and Cami Haas and Cheyenne Montijo both put in 3 scores as Stevenson cruised to an 18-1 victory over Deer Park. Sam Petti and Shelby Kohalmy each added 2 scores and Becky Callen and Lisa Michalowski combined to block 12 shots in the Patriots' victory. Phoebe del Greco scored the lone goal for Deer Park in the loss.

 

Wheeling 7 Lake Forest 4

Leah Malsom scored 5 goals to lead Wheeling to a 7-4 win over Lake Forest on Wednesday. Emily Nowlin recorded 3 goals in the loss for the Scouts.
