as Bremen finished the regular season with a 7-4 road win over Evanston on
Tuesday night, just two days before the girls' sectional quarterfinals
begin. Julie Velcich stopped 11 saves in the win, which saw Bremen finish
the season with a 27-3 record. Ellis O'Connor recorded all 4 goals for the
Wildkits in the losing cause.

Palatine 15 Elk Grove 9
Monica Dorszewski scored 7 times and Katie Brown added
3 scores as the Pirates defeated Elk Grove 15-9 in the play-in game at the
Barrington Sectional on Tuesday.
GBS Sectional
Maine West 12 Maine East 7
Gigi Groener scored 5 goals and Kelly Hartley saved 12
shots as Maine West surprised Maine East 12-7 in the play-in game at the
GBS Sectional. The Warriors led the entire way, pushing their lead to 9-4
in the second half before the Blue Demons went on a 3-0 run to close the
gap to 9-7. The Warriors put the game out of reach with a 3-0 run of their
own in the final period, as Groener, Ashley Winiecki (3 goals) and Rachel
Murphy (2 goals) each tallied goals in the final minutes of regulation.
For Maine East, Natalia Bialecka scored 4 times and Joanna Gwizdz added 3
scores in the loss.
LWC Sectional
Lincoln-Way West 10 Bradley 5
Sara Carse recorded 5 goals and Lauren Majewski added 2
goals as Lincoln-Way West won a playoff game in their first season by
knocking off Bradley 10-5.
Lyons Sectional
Argo 18 Morgan Park 15
Altaira Bird totaled 8 goals and Michelle Neal scored 5
times to help lift Argo to an 18-15 win over Morgan Park on Tuesday.
Jelena Bates scored 7 goals and Janelle Wenner added 5 scores in the loss
for the Mustangs.
Vernon Hills Sectional
Lake Forest 13 Vernon Hills 9
Emily Nowlin tallied 8 goals and Megan Salzer added 4
scores to lead Lake Forest to a 13-9 win over Vernon Hills on Tuesday
night. The ninth-seeded Scouts move on to face top-seed Mundelein in
Thursday's quarterfinals.
