TOURNAMENT RECAP
Preview
The CPS Tournament got underway with last Saturday's play-in games and continues
throughout Week 9; the quarterfinal round on Wednesday narrows the field and
eventually leads to Friday's title game. Young edged Lane 6-5 in last year's
title game, but this year's event features several teams that could make a
strong claim for the city championship.

Lincoln Park 12 Taft 6
Micki Chung scored 4 goals and both Lynette Allen and Maria Tkachuk
scored 2 times to lead Lincoln Park to a 12-6 victory over Taft.
Alexis Garcia, Alyssa Dzidzic, Aishling Martinez, Shannon Staunton,
Caroline Hoffman and Caitlin Boyd each scored once in the loss.
Jones-Payton 17 Mather 1
Rebecca Sudworth recorded 5 goals and Bella Yeung, Meredith Lohman
and Sky Gamino each chipped in with 3 goals as the Eagles downed
Mather 17-1. Marlee Nork added 2 goals and Mara Hoplamazian scored
once in the winning effort. Aileen Torres notched one score in the
losing effort.
Lindblom 19 Washington 7
Orintze Contreras tallied 9 goals to lead Lindblom to a 19-7 victory
over Washington. Araceli Velazquez notched 5 scores in the losing
effort.
Westinghouse 15 Little Village 8
Alejandra Izquierdo and Madeline Garcia both scored 5 times as
Westinghouse downed Little Village 15-8. Nancy Quiroz scored 3 times
in the loss.
Wednesday's Game Recaps
Whitney Young 12 Lindblom 3
Fairie Hughes totaled 3 goals and both Audrey Anderson and Gabby Chelette scored
2 times to help the Dolphins beat Lindblom 12-3.
Northside 19 Westinghouse 7
Jessica Skipper notched 7 scores, Marti Hale totaled 6 goals, and Megan Davis
made 9 saves to lead the Mustangs to a 19-7 win over Westinghouse.
Thursday's Game Recaps
Lane 14 Jones-Payton 0
Anne Puralewski recorded a shutout and the duo of Ally Cortez and Natalie
O'Connell combined to score 8 goals as the Indians beat Jones-Payton 14-0 to
advance to the CPS finals to face Northside Prep.
Northside 9 Whitney Young 5
Jane Patzke notched 4 scores and both Marti Hale and Rebekah Kissel scored 2
times as Northside moved on to the CPS title game after beating Whitney Young
9-5. Megan Davis led the defense with 4 saves and 2 steals in the win.
