FENWICK SECTIONAL

Fenwick 10 Curie 4

Matt Bresnahan recorded 4 goals to help lead Fenwick past Curie 10-4 on Friday night. Jeronimo Chavez scored 2 goals in the loss for the Condors.

 

Lyons 12 Oak Park 9

Peter Dore totaled 7 goals and Joe Shannon notched 5 scores as Lyons knocked off WSC rival Oak Park 12-9 to setup a sectional final showdown with top-seeded Fenwick on Saturday. Mark Hallman netted 5 scores, Lee Werner contributed 3 goals, and Nathan Pimentel scored once in the loss for OPRF.

 

 

FREMD SECTIONAL

Conant 13 Schaumburg 0

Aly Ahmed and the Conant defense recorded a 13-0 shutout of Schaumburg as the Cougars moved on to the sectional finals of the Fremd tournament on Friday night.

 

Hoffman 6 Fremd 4

Adam Pasnicki registered 5 goals and Logan Gizel blocked 18 shots as Hoffman Estates pulled off a 6-4 upset of Fremd after losing to the Vikings twice in the regular season. Luke Iehl added one goal for the Hawks, who built a 5-2 lead in the second half and hung on for a two-goal victory. Luke Stark scored 2 goals while both Matt Emerson and Matt Zambelli scored once in the loss for the hosts.

 

 

GBN SECTIONAL

New Trier 17 Maine South 6

Jordan Palmer registered 4 scores while both Dano Johnson and John Schulz scored 3 times to help the Trevians beat Maine South 17-6. New Trier outscored the Hawks 12-3 in the second half after leading 5-3 at halftime. Jason Bartha and Reid McCulloch each added 2 goals and Alex Grant, Maros Petro, and Matt Weiser each added one score in the winning effort. Makai DeNeve-Arnam scored 2 goals in the loss for South.

 

Loyola 18 Evanston 6

Cameron Shewchuck notched 5 scores and both Ben Pasquesi and Jack Nickele tallied 4 scores as Loyola defeated Evanston 18-6. Kameron Simmons-Gill and Sergi Maymo Lopez both registered 2 goals in the losing effort for the Wildkits.

 

 

LWN SECTIONAL

Homewood-Flossmoor 16 Bradley 9

Kevin Kuchta netted 7 goals and both Broc Thompson and Mike Mitchell scored 3 times to help the Vikings get past Bradley 16-9. Jakobi McClellan also made 16 saves in the H-F win. Paul Weber totaled 3 scores while Joseph Page and Nick Dalzell each tallied 2 scores in the loss for the Boilers.

 

Lockport 9 Lincoln-Way North 7

The Porters avenged their regular season loss to LWN by beating the Phoenix 9-7 when it mattered most, advancing to the sectional finals for a chance to defend their title against H-F on Saturday. John Goetz saved 22 shots and scored a goal, plus Dan Oldendorf, Jake Elias, Jake Knowles, and Jake Speechley each scored 2 times in the Lockport win.

 

 

MUNDELEIN SECTIONAL

Stevenson 9 Libertyville 7

Mitchell Sokolsky scored 5 goals, Remy Dalloul drew 5 ejections, and Rob O'Brien made 14 saves as the Patriots inched away from the Wildcats in the second half to earn a 9-7 win on Friday night. Taylor Baretz and Varun Mummadi each added 2 scores in the Stevenson win. Jeremy Kucera notched 3 scores and Alex Wang recorded 2 goals in the loss for Libertyville.

 

Palatine 13 Lake Forest 7

Christian Kalfas totaled 4 goals, Kristian Kalev netted 3 scores, and Alex Brons and Omar El Hoffi each scored 2 times as Palatine pulled away from Lake Forest in the second half with an 8-3 run to earn a 13-7 victory on Friday night. Brons added 8 steals and Peter Blackham made 20 saves in the Pirates win. Colin Rowe and Jason Woodruff both tallied 2 scores in the loss for the Scouts.

 

 

NEUQUA SECTIONAL

Naperville North 18 York 9

Eric Curia poured in 9 goals and Nolan Roberts tallied 4 scores as Naperville North cruised to an 18-9 win over York. Luke Landiak also scored 2 goals for the Huskies, who took control of the game early with an 8-0 lead and never looked back to move into the sectional finals for a chance to defend their title. Patrick McKenna totaled 6 goals and Alex Waldherr added 2 scores in the loss for the Dukes.

 

Hinsdale Central 10 Naperville Central 9

Andre Brown and Wade Kinney scored key late goals as part of a 3-1 run to lift Hinsdale Central past Naperville Central 10-9 on Friday night. George Koulouris tied the game at 8-8 midway through the final period and then assisted Kinney on a counterattack goal that gave the Red Devils a 9-8 lead. Brown scored the eventual game-winner with under two minutes to play before Connor Lamb's goal cut the lead to one heading into the final minute. After a stop and a Redhawks' timeout, the Red Devils' defense forces a turnover to emerge with the narrow win. Brogan O'Doherty scored 4 goals and Koulouris put in 3 goals in the Hinsdale Central win. Nick Walker and Ryan Donahue each netted 3 scores in the loss for Naperville Central.

 

 

STAGG SECTIONAL

Sandburg 15 St Rita 3

Kevin Tunney and Mike O'Malley both scored 4 goals as Sandburg defeated St Rita 15-3. Mitch Zieler and Paul Fitzpatrick each scored 2 goals in the Eagles' win. Charles Murphy tallied 2 scores and Eric Johnson scored once in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Brother Rice 9 Stagg 6

Dan Birmingham scored 4 times and Matt Bachler chipped in with 2 scores as Brother Rice rebounded from an early 3-1 deficit to beat Stagg 9-6 in a physical encounter on Friday night. Dan Whalen, Dave Jackson, and Ian Disteldorf each tallied one score and Cal Kennedy blocked 12 shots in the Crusaders' victory. Ryan Petersen led the Chargers with 3 goals in the loss.

 

 

UIC SECTIONAL

St Ignatius 11 Lane 7

Billy Barth, John Reyes, and Tom Downling each scored 3 goals and Tym Zymon totaled 10 saves and 4 steals as the Wolfpack advanced to the sectional finals with an 11-7 victory over Lane.

 

DeLaSalle 13 Whitney Young 10

The Meteors outscored the Dolphins 4-1 in the final period to break a 9-9 tie to advance to their first ever sectional final with a 13-10 triumph over Whitney Young. Seth Hughes recorded 5 goals and Matt Gonzales blocked 17 shots in the loss for the Dolphins. Juan Reyes also chipped in with 2 scores in the losing effort.

FENWICK SECTIONAL

Fenwick 16 Maine South 6

The Friars built an early 5-1 lead and never looked back in beating Maine South 16-6 on Friday to move to the sectional finals at their own sectional on Friday. Colleen Barron netted 5 goals and Cara Borkovec put in 2 scores for the victors.

 

Lyons 7 York 5

The Lions outscored York 3-0 in the final quarter to claim a 7-5 comeback victory after entering the final quarter trailing 5-4 on Friday. All three fourth quarter goals came on penalty shots as Lyons advanced to take on Fenwick in a rematch of last year's sectional final game. Blair Hopwood registered 5 goals for the Lions in the winning effort. Carly Redmond scored 3 times in the loss for the Dukes.

 

 

FREMD SECTIONAL

Barrington 9 Conant 8

The Fillies overcame a 4-2 deficit to survive an upset bid from Conant to advance to the sectional finals with a 9-8 victory over Conant. Catherine Byron recorded 4 goals, Lisa Danhauer added 3 scores, and Sam Gavars netted 2 goals in the win. Carmen Rosas scored 3 times, Kaitlyn Claffey scored 2 goals and made 5 steals, and Angie Skittone, Maddy Demaret, and Natalie Tanski each added one score in the loss for the Cougars. Demaret also made 14 saves and 5 steals in the one-goal loss for Conant. Skittone's goal with 1:11 left in regulation cut Barrington's lead to one, but the Fillies were able to run out the clock after a last-minute stop.

 

Fremd 8 Hersey 3

The Vikings earned a methodical 8-3 win over Hersey on Friday night to advance to the sectional finals for a date with Barrington on Saturday afternoon. Fremd took an early 2-1 lead and then slowly increased their advantage to walk away with a five-goal victory.

 

 

GBN SECTIONAL

New Trier 11 Glenbrook North 2

Alexana Astor poured in 7 goals, Lindsey Siegel netted 3 scores, and Kelsey Willian chipped in with one goal in New Trier's 11-2 win over GBN. Lindsay Fraser and Vladi Mulitinovic each scored once and Kerry Goodspeed blocked 13 shots in the loss for the Spartans.

 

Loyola 20 Glenbrook South 9

Marta Considine recorded 8 goals, Evan Swenson scored 5 times, and Meredith O'Brien saved 13 shots in Loyola's 20-9 triumph over GBS. Emi Croghan also scored 4 goals and Katie Lynch put in 2 scores in the win for the Ramblers. Jessie Kerndt notched 4 scores and Anne Edwards tacked on 3 goals in the loss for the Titans.

 

 

LWN SECTIONAL

Lincoln-Way Central 15 Lincoln-Way East 6

Danijela Jackovich totaled 6 goals and 9 steals and Liz Klock chipped in with 4 scores and 4 assists as the Knights earned a 15-6 win over LWE. Kristi Howe added 3 goals and Caroline Foglton made 10 saves in the Central victory. Haley McCabe led the Griffins with 4 scores in the losing effort.

 

Lincoln-Way North 7 Lockport 5

The Phoenix grabbed an early 3-0 lead and held on to beat Lockport 7-5 on Friday night to advance to the sectional finals in their home pool against LWC.

 

 

MUNDELEIN SECTIONAL

Mundelein 12 Libertyville 4

Karrie Kozokar recorded 5 goals and Allison Boothe netted 3 scores as Mundelein beat Libertyville 12-4 on Friday night. Julia Ahlgrim scored 2 times in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

Stevenson 15 Wheeling 4

Ashley Oliver scored 4 goals, Allison Travetto and Brittany Gartenberg each added 3 goals, and Melissa Gartenberg scored 2 times as the Patriots grabbed a 15-4 victory over Wheeling. Becky Callen also made 10 saves in the Stevenson win. Theresa Godlewski led the Wildcats with 3 goals in the losing effort.

 

 

NEUQUA SECTIONAL

Naperville North 8 Neuqua Valley 3

Dani DiMatteo, Jillian Eiken, and Kim Lechowicz each scored 2 times as Naperville North emerged from the first semifinal at Neuqua Valley with an 8-3 win over the hosts. Helen Wei and Katie Horn each added one score in the Huskies' victory. Abbie Teeling, Brooke Bedford,  and Sydney Kalich all scored once in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

Naperville Central 10 STC North 6

Madison Nervig recorded 4 goals, including the game-winner late in the fourth quarter, as the Redhawks mounted a late rally to escape an upset bid from STC North to earn an 10-6 win. The North Stars held a 6-4 lead in the final period before Central put together a dramatic 6-0 run to claim the victory. Kristina Altuve and Kaela Codo each scored 2 times and Leslie Calabrese and Michelle Spaits each added key goals during the fourth quarter rally. Maddie Jones and Sarah Stern both put in 2 goals, Angelica Villa and Katie Quinn each added one goal, and Hannah Horsfall made 11 saves in the loss for STC North.

 

 

STAGG SECTIONAL

Mother McAuley 12 Andrew 3

Amy Kopale and Clare Bryar each scored 3 goals as the Mighty Macs built a 7-0 halftime lead en route to a 12-3 victory over Andrew. Fran Williamson, Kristen Kleist, and Vicky Arcineaga each scored 2 goals as well for the victors. AnneMarie Lettiere, Courtney Carter, and Rachel Fus all scored once in the loss for the T-Bolts.

 

Sandburg 11 Bremen 5

Lauren Olson scored 3 goals and Cara Hays, Kaitlyn Randich, and Sarah Dolitsky each netted 2 goals as the Eagles pulled away from the Red Jaguars late in the first half to earn an 11-5 victory on Friday to advance to the sectional finals. Alona King also made 6 saves in the win. Hannah Schultz led Bremen with 3 goals while both Jacky Zuniga and Sarah Minnich added one goal in the losing effort.

 

 

UIC SECTIONAL

St Ignatius 13 Evanston 3

Rebecca Martinez and Tammy Stelnicki each scored 3 goals and Jenny Stelnicki recorded 16 saves to help the Wolfpack earn a 13-3 win over Evanston on Friday. Becky Insalaco and Diana Fernandez both scored 2 goals and Clara Lindland, Nina Mantich, and Maggie Maloney all scored once as the hosts pulled out to an 11-0 lead at halftime and limited the Wildkits to three second half goals in the win. Yasi Nassiri scored 2 times in the loss for Evanston.

 

Lane 12 Northside 5

Carmen Savolainen and Natalie O'Connell both tallied 4 scores to lead Lane to a 12-5 victory over the Mustangs on Friday. Tammy Saowapak registered 3 scores and Marti Hale made 18 saves in the loss for Northside Prep.
