Fenwick Looks To Defend Catholic League
Crown
The Catholic League gets their
conference tournament underway on Thursday night, with a play-in game
followed by four quarterfinal matchups. The key game on the schedule is
the contest between St Patrick and St Ignatius, with the winner likely to
match up with top-seeding Fenwick in the semifinal round.

Mt Carmel 21 St Viator 20
Louis Vitiritti totaled 12 goals and Nick Hroma added 6 scores as Mt
Carmel held off St Viator 21-20 in a high-scoring affair on Thursday
night. Nick LaMantia tallied 5 scores in the loss for the Lions.
St Ignatius 8 St Patrick 5
Billy Barth and Brayden Amendola each scored 3 times as the Wolfpack's 5-0
performance in the first half was enough to propel them past St Patrick
8-5. Greg Johnson and Jon Gutierrez both scored 2 goals in the Shamrocks'
loss.
Loyola 20 St Rita 2
Charlie Dowdle poured in 5 goals and
Erik Goosmann tallied 4 scores to help lead Loyola to a 20-2 win over St Rita.
Brother Rice 18 DeLaSalle 9
Mitch Strahlman scored 6 times
and Dave Jackson and Mike Mulcrone both chipped in with 4 scores in
the Crusaders' 18-9 triumph over DeLaSalle.
Fenwick 30 Mt Carmel 2
Dan Sullivan scored 5 times and Hunter Gross added 4 goals as the Friars
beat Mt Carmel 30-2. Tommy McGuire also made 19 saves in the win for
Fenwick.
Saturday's Game Recaps
Fenwick 13 St Ignatius 5
Dan Kelly scored 4 goals, Rich Mueller notched 3 scores, and Viken Huening
put in 2 goals in Fenwick's 13-5 triumph over St Ignatius. Billy Barth,
Brayden Amendola, and Jaime Juarez each scored one time in the loss for
the Wolfpack.
Loyola 16 Brother Rice 10
Brendan Hulseman tallied 3 goals and Danny Stauder, Erik Goosmann, and Tim
Netzel each recorded 2 scores as the Ramblers defeated Brother Rice 16-10.
Mike Mulcrone scored 7 goals in the loss for the Crusaders.
Brother Rice 16 St Ignatius 11
Kevin Mayer and Mike Mulcrone both recorded 7 goals in the Crusaders'
16-11 victory over St Ignatius in the third-place game of the MCAC
Tournament. Brayden Amendola registered 5 scores and Jaime Juarez added 3
scores for SICP.
Fenwick 9 Loyola 8
Viken Huening scored 4 goals, Dan Kelly chipped in with 2 scores, and
Tommy McGuire made 9 saves as Fenwick held off Loyola 9-8 to win the
Catholic League title in 2012. Charlie Dowdle, Jordan Hodur, and Tim
Netzel each rang up 2 scores in the loss for the Ramblers, who evened the
score at halftime and saw their late rally come up one goal short.
