TOURNAMENT RECAP (May 2-4)
Tournament Preview
The Catholic League quarterfinal round gets underway
at 4:30pm at Fenwick with the hosts doing battle with DeLaSalle, who is
playing in their first conference tournament in 2013. The winner will face
either Marian or St Ignatius, who play at 5:30pm in the night's second
quarterfinal. On the other side of the bracket, second-seeded Mother
McAuley faces Resurrection and third-seed Loyola takes on Viator. All four
winning teams advance to Saturday morning's semifinal round, which
features contests at 9:00am and 10:00am and culminates with the
championship game at 3:30pm at Fenwick.

St Ignatius 15 Marian 5
Jenny Stelnicki blocked 9 shots and nine players tallied goals for the
Wolfpack as they beat Marian 15-5 to move to the Catholic League
semifinals.
Mother McAuley 13 Resurrection 6
Loyola 18 St Viator 5
Evan Swenson, Katie Lynch, and Marta Considine each scored 4 goals and
Allison Sajnaj added 3 scores in Loyola's 18-5 victory over St Viator.
Meredith O'Brien saved 10 shots in the win for the Ramblers, who move to
the semifinal round to take on Mother McAuley on Saturday.
Saturday, May 4
St Ignatius 9 Fenwick

Becky Insalaco scored with twenty seconds remaining to lift St
Ignatius past Fenwick 9-8 in the Catholic League semifinals on Saturday
morning. Insalaco and Tammy Stelnicki each scored 4 goals and Maggie
Maloney added one score in the win for the Wolfpack. Cara Borkovec tallied
3 scores and Catie Wallace notched 2 goals in the loss for the Friars.
Mother McAuley 16 Loyola 6
Kristen Kleist recorded 6 goals and Clare Bryar netted 5 scores as Mother
McAuley defeated Loyola 16-6 on Saturday. Vicky Arciniega scored 2 times
while Amy Kopale, Fran Williamson, and MaryJune O'Connell each added one
goal for the victors. Evan Swenson scored 3 goals in the loss for the
Ramblers.
Fenwick 24 Loyola 9 (3rd place)
Catie Wallace recorded 6 goals and Cara Borkovec scored 5 times as Fenwick
beat Loyola 24-9 to finish the MCAC Tournament in third place. Alexa
Ovalle and Colleen Barron each registered 3 goals and Haley Wickham added
2 goals in the Friars' win. Marta Considine scored 3 goals and Evan
Swenson, Liz Kyle, and Katie Lynch each put in 2 scores in the Ramblers'
loss.
Mother McAuley 12 St Ignatius 7 (1st place)
Clare Bryar, Fran Williamson, and Kristen Kleist each scored 3 goals and
Vicky Arciniega added 2 goals as Mother McAuley defeated St Ignatius 12-7
to win the Catholic League tournament on Saturday. Meg Golon also scored
once for the Mighty Macs, who used a 4-1 run in the second quarter to
build a lead over the Wolfpack that they would never relinquish. Diana
Fernandez tallied 3 scores, Becky Insalaco recorded 2 goals, and both
Rebecca Martinez and Tammy Stelnicki scored once in the losing effort.
