Stevenson 5 Palatine 4
Alex Rembialkowski scored from seven meters out early
in the fourth quarter and Jon Nadel made a game-saving block in the last
0:30 to propel the Patriots to a 5-4 upset win over #13 Palatine in the
first game of the Stevenson Tournament on Friday. Earlier in the half,
Stevenson took a 4-3 lead when Josh Hodges scored on a drive midway
through the third period, but Palatine's Brad Ferris evened the score at
4-4 with a goal in the final minute of the third quarter.
Mundelein 12 New Trier 9
Brandon Horsch broke a 9-9 tie early in the fourth
quarter and both Pat Falconer and Will Davidson each added one goal apiece
in the last two minutes as Mundelein wore down New Trier to earn a 12-9
victory on Friday. Davidson led the Mustangs with 4 total goals, Horsch and
Frank Lukacs each scored 3 times, and Pat Falconer added 2
goals in the win for Mundelein.
The Trevians trailed 9-7 late in the third period and
evened the score by the end of the quarter after James Bartels scored from
the left side after an ejection and Konrad VonMoltke scored a
counterattack goal. Sam Buchman kept New Trier in the game in the final
period, making four consecutive saves after the Trevians went down by a
score, but the Mustangs' offensive attack proved to difficult to stop as
they emerged with the victory. Bartels led New Trier with 3 goals, while
VonMoltke and Mike Maley each scored 2 times in the loss.
Fenwick 8 Naperville Central 7
Fenwick's 4-0 fourth quarter run stunned Naperville
Central 8-7 on Friday night after the Redhawks led for the first three
quarters of the game. Connor Brown scored the game-winning goal with 2:02
remaining and the Friars' defense was able to hold on for the comeback
win. Will Rigali scored 4 goals to lead Fenwick, including the first goal
of the final period that started the 4-0 run. John Osborne also scored 2
goals in the victory, chipping in with a goal and an assist in the final
period as well.
Mark Menis scored 3 times for the Redhawks, including
the first 2 goals of the game that gave the Redhawks the early momentum.
Central led 3-1 after the first quarter, 5-3 at halftime, and took a 7-4
lead into the final six minute period before succumbing to the Fenwick
pressure on both ends of the pool. Jay Howenstine, Kristian Altuve, Kyle
Rickert, and Ryan Stanley each scored one goal in the narrow defeat for
the Redhawks.
Oak Park 13 Brother Rice 5
The Huskies went on a 9-0 run that spanned from the
second to the fourth quarter as they cruised to a 13-5 victory over
Brother Rice on Friday night. Armando Lee recorded 6 goals, Troy Williams
added 3 scores, and Dylan O'Connell scored 2 goals in the win for Oak
Park. Mike Mulcrone and Sean Davis each scored 2 times in the losing
effort for the Crusaders.
Naperville Central 16 Stevenson 1
Kyle Rickert scored 5 times, Jay Howenstine added 3
scores, and Dennis Herron, Kristian Altuve, and Ryan Stanley each scored 2
goals as the Redhawks bounced back from their earlier loss to Fenwick with
a 16-1 win over Stevenson. Alex Rembialkowski scored the lone goal for the
Patriots in the final quarter.
Oak Park 18 New Trier 10
Armando Lee, Dylan O'Connell, and Nathaniel Williams
each scored 4 times to help lift the Huskies to their second win of the
night, an 18-10 decision over New Trier. Luke O'Connell and Tommy Poulos
also scored 3 times in the win for Oak Park. Konrad VonMoltke scored 3
goals and Sam Skinner added 2 scores to lead the Trevians.
Conant Tournament
Neuqua Valley 12
Libertyville 5
AJ Quebbeman scored 5 times and Kevin Patterson and
Mike Rooney both recorded 3 goals as Neuqua Valley beat Libertyville 12-5
on Friday night in the opening round of the Libertyville.
Other Boys' Recaps
Schaumburg 13 York 12
Brandon Kase scored 6 goals, Randy Carr added 5 scores,
and Mike Gergen had 2 goals as Schaumburg held off York 13-12 on Friday.
Saxons' goalie Michael George stopped 16 shots, including two stops from
point-blank range in the final minute to help Schaumburg earn the
nonconference win. Marc Krolikiewicz scored 8 times in the loss for the
Dukes.
