Appell Leads Huskies
To Lane Tournament Trophy
Katie Appell recorded 19 goals in wins over Latin, New Trier, and
Wheeling on Saturday to lift the Huskies to a late-season tournament title
at Lane Tech. She surpassed the 100-goal mark in a 15-1 victory over
Latin, scored 6 times in a 9-1 win over New Trier, and scored 4 times in
an overtime win over Wheeling in the title game. Theresa Godlewski and Kat
Dobrowski combined to score 13 times in Wheeling's run to a second place
finish, the hosts outlasted New Trier 6-3 in the third-place game, and
Prospect beat Latin to claim fifth-place even though they ended the day
with a 2-1 record.

Wheeling 7 Lane 6
Kat Dobrowski and Theresa Godlewski each scored 3
times and Emily Sowa added one goal as Wheeling started the Lane
Tournament with a 7-6 win over the hosts.
Oak Park 15 Latin 1
Katie Appell scored 9 goals, including her 100th score of the
season, as Oak Park cruised to a 15-1 win over Latin on Saturday
morning. Hannah Smith added 3 scores in the win for the Huskies.
Prospect 5 Wheeling 4
The Knights earned a one-goal victory over their MSL East rivals on
Saturday morning, beating Wheeling 5-4. In the loss, Theresa
Godlewski scored 3 times and Kat Dobrowksi added one score for the
Wildcats.
Oak Park 9 New Trier 1
Katie Appell recorded 6 goals and drew 3 ejections to help lead the
Huskies past New Trier 9-1. Grace Martin also put in 2 goals in the
win for OPRF.
Oak Park 5 Wheeling 3 (OT)
Katie Appell scored 4 times and Samantha Robbins netted one goal in
a 5-3 overtime win over Wheeling that clinched the Lane Tournament
title for the Huskies. Jordin Hale and Zoe Erickson combined to make
12 saves in the victory. Theresa Godlewski tallied 2 scores and Kat
Dobrowski notched one score in the loss for the Wildcats.
