GAME PREVIEWS (Friday, April 26)

TOURNAMENT TO WATCH

STEVENSON TOURNAMENT

The Patriots host a crucial late-season tournament that often serves as an excellent preview of the state tournament. This year is no exception, as six of the top ten teams will play in Lincolnshire, including #1 Lyons, #3 Fenwick, #4 New Trier, #5 Oak Park, #8 Stevenson, and #9 Loyola. Also in the mix are #12 Naperville Central, #14 Brother Rice, and #20 Palatine. The defending champion Lions won the event by one goal last year, beating Fenwick in the first championship round game before getting past Brother Rice later in the day. Will history repeat itself in 2013, or will one of the other eight challenges be able to send a message with just eight days until the postseason begins?

OTHER KEY TOURNAMENTS

CONANT TOURNAMENT

Conant hosts a nine-team, eighteen-game event with an eccentric mix of teams that start play on Friday and continue throughout the day on Saturday. The Cougars play in a group with BG and St Viator, the second group includes Lane, Libertyville, and Maine West, while the final group consists of LWN, Neuqua Valley, and Northside.

GAME PREVIEWS (Friday, April 26)

MATCH OF THE DAY

6:00pm #11 Naperville North at #21 Bremen

The Red Jaguars play host to the Huskies in a nonconference battle on Friday evening; North won the first meeting between the two teams 11-2 at the York Tournament back in Week 6.

KEEP AN EYE ON

6:00pm #43 Northside at #50 Schaumburg

The Mustangs travel to Schaumburg for a nonconference affair on Friday night as both teams could use a win to build some momentum heading into their respective conference tournaments.

TOURNAMENT TO WATCH

ROCKFORD TOURNAMENT

Fenwick and Lincoln-Way Central travel across state lines to participate in the Rockford Tournament, an event featuring several of the top teams in Michigan (including the top-ranked hosts). Can #1 Fenwick and #5 LWC continue the success of Illinois teams against their Michigan counterparts after five teams posted a 16-2 record against The Wolverine State this past weekend? The Friars lost to Rockford in the title game by one goal in 2012, while the Knights are joining the fray for the first time.
