TOURNAMENT REPORT
Preview
The
GBS Tournament is a nine-team, eighteen-game event that gets underway on Friday.
Naperville North will look to defend their title against the hosts,
Evanston, Hersey, Lake Forest, Libertyville, New Trier, Palatine, and Prospect
in an event that should feature several close contests based on last year's
results. The Huskies beat GBS and Hersey in the first-place bracket last season
to win the event.

Glenbrook South 13 Prospect 5
Peter Dales recorded 4 goals, Richard Poma notched 3 scores and
Davis Hianik allowed just one goal and made 5 saves to help lead the
Titans past Prospect 13-5 in the GBS Tournament opener. Tyler
Cullerton notched 3 scores in the loss for the Knights.
New Trier 14 Hersey 2
Michael Krueger netted 3 goals and Alex Grant scored 2 times to help
lift the Trevians over Hersey 14-2. Brendon Abbott and Jake Hall
each scored once in the loss for the Huskies.
Evanston 10 Naperville North 10
The Wildkits built a 6-4 halftime lead and the Huskies outscored
them by the same margin in the second half as the preliminary round
contest between the two squads finished in a 10-10 draw. Thomas Fies
put in 4 goals and both Kane Kulman and Sean Finn-Samuels registered
2 scores for Evanston, while Drake McClure totaled 6 goals and
Jon-Jon Pettinger netted 3 goals for Naperville North.
Glenbrook South 9 Libertyville 4
Peter Dales registered 4 goals, Tommy Hagerty netted 2 scores and
Davis Hianik made 10 saves in the Titans' 9-4 win over Libertyville.
The hosts advanced to tomorrow's championship round after securing
their second win of the day. Ben Sutter notched 3 scores in the loss
for the Wildcats.
New Trier 14 Palatine 5
Alex Grant tallied 4 scores and Michael Krueger registered 3 scores
in the Trevians' 14-5 victory over Palatine. Jacob Baran and Ryan
Schlaiss both netted 2 goals in the loss for the Pirates.
Naperville North 10 Lake Forest 0
Drake McClure scored 4 goals and goalie Jack Roche and the
Naperville North defense earned a shutout as the Huskies' blanked
Lake Forest 10-0 on Friday night. The victors will advance to play
for the title if Evanston gives up one or more goals in tomorrow
morning's game against Lake Forest.
Libertyville 7 Prospect 5
Christian Hobson and Jacob Lex both scored 2 goals to help the
Wildcats gets past Prospect 7-5. George Schober and Sam Gabriel each
tallied 2 scores in the loss for the Knights.
Palatine 9 Hersey 8
Ryan Schlaiss recorded 4 goals and Marcus Carter-Buckman netted 3
goals to lead the Pirates to a 9-8 victory
over Hersey. Jake Conrad also made 12 saves in the winning effort. Eric Deitrich notched 4 scores in the loss for the
Huskies.
Evanston 11 Lake Forest 6
Sean Finn-Samuels and Thomas Fies both totaled 3 goals to lead the
Wildkits past Lake Forest 11-6. David Nelson and Daniel Smith both
notched 2 scores in the losing effort.
Prospect 7 Hersey 7
Sam Gabriel totaled 5 goals for the Knights while Sean Prior scored
3 times for the Huskies as the two MSL East squads finished in a 7-7
tie in the seventh-place bracket of the GBS Tournament.
Libertyville 11 Palatine 6
Michael Watson scored 3 times for the Wildcats as they defeated
Palatine 11-6. Jacob Baran put in 2 goals and Jake Conrad stopped 11
shots in the loss for the
Pirates.
Glenbrook South 9 New Trier 9
The opening game of the championship round between the hosts and New
Trier finished in a 9-9 draw. Tommy Hagerty scored 4 goals, Danny
Dragman and Richard Poma each scored 2 goals and Davis Hianik made 9
saves for the Titans, while Alex Grant buried 6 goals for the
Trevians.
Prospect 7 Lake Forest 7
The Knights and Scouts finished in a 7-7 tie in the second game of
the seventh-place bracket of the event. Sam Gabriel scored 3 goals
to lead Prospect while Nico Demet tallied 4 scores for Lake Forest.
Evanston 8 Libertyville 5
Liam O'Connor and Sean Finn-Samuels both scored 2 goals to help
Evanston get past Libertyville 8-5. Alex Kratcoski netted 2 goals in
the loss for the Wildcats.
New Trier 12 Naperville North 5
Alex Grant scored 9 goals to lead the Trevians past Naperville North
12-5. Cole Jacobs, Drake McClure, David Holzer, Reilly McDonnell and
Spencer Wallace each scored once in the loss for the Huskies.
Hersey 8 Lake Forest 2
Jake Hall totaled 4 goals to help lead the Huskies to an 8-2 victory
over Lake Forest.
Evanston 10 Palatine 7
Liam O'Connor scored 4 goals to help lead the Wildkits past Palatine
10-7 to win the fourth-place bracket of the event. Ryan Schlaiss
scored 4 times, Colin White put in 2 goals and Jake Conrad made 9
saves in the Pirates' loss.
Glenbrook South 9 Naperville North 8
Peter Dales recorded 4 goals, Tommy Hagerty netted 3 goals and Davis
Hianik made 12 saves to help the hosts edge Naperville North 9-8.
The Titans clinched a second place finish at their own event, losing
the tiebreaker to New Trier, who they tied earlier in the day. Drake
McClure totaled 4 scores in the loss for the Huskies. Brian Lapham,
David Holzer, Joe Tomashek and Spencer Wallace each scored once as
well for North.
