Libertyville
Impresses At Barrington Quad
Jeremy Kucera scored 13 goals to help Libertyville elude the hosts
in the tournament opener and get past both McHenry and St Viator later in
the day to win the Barrington Tournament on Saturday. The hosts, led by
Chase Lesniak (9 goals), Sam Miseyka (7 goals), and Sean McCarthy (35
saves), placed second after quality wins over McHenry and St Viator.
Andrew Trocki's 5-goal performance helped McHenry surprise St Viator 8-6
for third place at the event.
BREMEN TOURNAMENT
Bremen Continues Epic
Season With Tournament Title
Quinn Johnson scored 21 goals and Tony Zdanavicius provided the
game-winning goal in Friday evening's one-goal victory over Bradley as the
Silver Snakes improved to 15-4 by beating the Boilers, Maine East, Argo,
and STC East to win their own event. Bradley won all three of their games
on Saturday to claim a second-place finish, Maine East downed STC East for
third, and the Saints got past Argo for fourth place.
DESMET TOURNAMENT
Fenwick Stunned By SLUH In Overtime Thriller
For the second straight week, Fenwick lost an overtime game to SLUH;
this time it was for the DeSmet Tournament title after the Friars bounced
back from an early Saturday loss to MICDS to beat Parkway West and
advanced to the championship game. For complete details of the epic final
game, click the event logo, but the young and shorthanded Friars took SLUH
to overtime before losing 7-6 in the final game. Fenwick went 3-2 at the
event, while DeLaSalle ended up in tenth place after edging out Chaminade
in a consolation game before losing to Oakville in their last game.
LYONS TOURNAMENT
Lions Keep On Rolling
With Another Tournament Title
The Lions weren't playing games at their own event this weekend;
they followed up last weekend's York Tournament title by beating Loyola,
Stevenson, and York in demonstrative fashion to win their second event of
the 2013 season. Oak Park and Stevenson tied for third after finishing in
a 5-5 deadlock, while St Ignatius defeated York 12-3 in the fifth-place

NAPERVILLE TOURNAMENT
Naperville North
Definitely Best of the West
Eric Curia scored 16 goals and Gianmarco Duin and Nolan Roberts
combined to score 16 more times as the Huskies continued to build towards
the postseason by winning the Naperville Central Tournament with a 4-0
record over the weekend. The Huskies beat Hinsdale Central and Lake Forest
in convincing fashion on Saturday after downing Buffalo Grove and
Glenbrook South on Friday night. Brogan O'Doherty scored 14 goals and
George Koulouris added 13 scores as the Red Devils placed second by
beating Lake Forest 13-6 on Saturday morning. The Scouts finished third by
earning an 8-8 draw with the hosts on Friday, but the Redhawks ended the
weekend with an undefeated (3-0-1) after responding to the draw with wins
over GBS and Mundelein on Saturday. Connor Black and Jason Rehor totaled
28 goals in Mundelein's fifth place finish over GBS, while Lincoln-Way
Central grabbed two wins on Saturday to win the seventh-place group.
ST PATRICK TOURNAMENT
Crusaders
Grind Their Way To St Patrick Title
Brother Rice suffered an 8-6 loss to Waubonsie Valley on Friday,
lost to Niles West on Saturday morning, yet somehow endured to beat the
hosts 10-1 in the eventual title game to win the St Patrick Tournament via
tiebreaker on Saturday night. Kevin Mayer scored 13 goals and Cal Kennedy
made 40 saves as Rice beat H-F on Friday, then topped the Shamrocks on
Saturday and beat the rest field by goals allowed and all that to win the
event. Niles West and the hosts both went 3-1 over the weekend to finish
second and third, respectively.
SANDBURG TOURNAMENT
Sandburg Takes Care
Of Business At Home Tournament
The Eagles earned impressive wins over Andrew, Conant, Lincoln-Way
North, and STC North to win their own event over the weekend as Kevin
Tunney scored 23 goals to lead the team to a 4-0 record. Conant beat
Prospect for third place, STC North topped Lane in the fifth-place game,
and Andrew got past R-B for seventh place on Saturday afternoon.

ELK GROVE TOURNAMENT
Libertyville Eludes
Maine East To Claim Elk Grove Title
Devika Joshi scored 12 goals as Libertyville went 4-0 on Saturday at
the Elk Grove Tournament, including a 7-3 win over Maine East to win the
title. Maria Protic scored 12 goals for the Blue Demons in a second-place
performance, while Sandra Kietlinska added 6 scores as Maine East finished
3-1 on Saturday. The shorthanded hosts finished in third with a 2-2 mark,
as Christine Juhas totaled 10 goals for the event's third-place finishers.
Jessica Dykstra scored 7 times to help Meadows grab a win over Deerfield
and end the day in fourth place, while Katherine Rogers scored 12 goals to
no avail as the Warriors failed to gain a victory on Saturday.
Redhawks Nearly Takeover Michigan Polo
Madison Nervig scored 9 goals, Kristina Altuve added 7 scores, and Erin
Reagan made 29 saves as the Redhawks nearly shocked Rockford on their own
turf on Friday night before losing 8-7 in three overtimes. The team
responded by beating East Kentwood, Jenison, and Hudsonville to finish in
third place at the Jenison Tournament on Saturday.
LATIN TOURNAMENT
Indians Chop Their Way To Latin Tournament Win
Lane defeated Hinsdale Central, Hinsdale South, and Latin to finish
with a perfect record at Latin's event on Saturday afternoon. The Red
Devils beat Northside to finish 3-1, NSP ended the day with a 2-1 mark,
while Hinsdale South ended the day with one win and the hosts went winless
on Saturday.
STEVENSON TOURNAMENT
Stevenson Preps For
Second Half With Mini-Tourney Win
The Patriots used a balanced attack on both the offensive and
defensive ends to beat Fremd and Metea Valley and head to Week 7 with a
great deal of positive momentum. Alex Kanaris, Ashley Oliver, Jenna
Oliver, Brittant Gartenberg, and Melissa Gartenberg each put in key
performances for Stevenson, while Becky Callen and Lauren Burns starred in
goal for the Patriots on Saturday. The Vikings built off Friday's win over
Sandburg by beating Metea Valley 10-7 behind Emma Hoffman's 4-goal
performance.
ST VIATOR TOURNAMENT
LWC Flexes Muscles At
St Viator Tournament
Danijela Jackovich, Liz Klock, Caroline Foglton and the rest of the
Knights had no problems dominating the St Viator Tournament again with
wins over the hosts, Buffalo Grove, Lockport, and STC North. The North
Stars upended Maine South 15-4 in the third-place game before the Knights
topped conference foe Lockport for the title.
VERNON HILLS TOURNAMENT
Conant Bounces Back At Vernon Hills
Just one week after losing all three games at a Glenbrook
Tournament, Conant went 3-0 at the Vernon Hills Tournament to win the
event. Angie Skittone and Carmen Rosas combined to score 20 goals and
Maddy Demaret saved 35 shots and scored 3 goals in the winning effort for
the Cougars. Carly Romano scored 10 times in a second-place finish for
Maine West, while Kasia Serwin's 5 goals helped Hoffman end the day in the
third place by beatiing the hosts 3-2.
YORK TOURNAMENT
Naperville North
Defends Title At York
With the pressure on, Naperville North's mix of talent and
experience led them to the York Tournament title after wins over
Barrington, Bremen, R-B over the weekend. Bremen outlasted Andrew 9-5 in
the third-place game, while the hosts beat R-B by a 9-6 score in the
event's fifth-place game.
