TOURNAMENT REPORT
Preview
The 11-team, 22-game Fenwick Tournament features several of the state's
best teams and could serve as a potential preview of next month's state
tournament. Six of the state's top ten squads are in action, with a
list that includes #1 Naperville North, #2 Stevenson, #3 St Ignatius, #4
Fenwick, #6 Lyons and #9 NC. #13 New Trier, #14 Loyola, #15 McAuley and #29 H-F also join the fray in an event that
begins with four opening-round games on Thursday, followed by five
more games on Friday and six contests on Saturday morning before the championship round begins.
The hosts won the event in 2014 after beating McAuley and St Ignatius in the
first-place group.

Allison Travetto recorded 7 goals and Melissa Gartenberg scored 2
times and dished out 5 assists as the Patriots earned a 12-5 victory
over Naperville Central on Thursday in the Fenwick Tournament
opener. Claire Haas also scored 3 times, Annika Hotchkiss scored
once and Lauren Burns made 13 saves in the win for Stevenson. Alli
Hansen, Beth Ryan, Emily Rodgers, Jennifer Oliver and Kaela Codo
each scored once and Sara Campbell made 9 saves for the Redhawks.
St Ignatius 20 Loyola 0
Stephania Lopez tallied 7 goals and Diana Fernandez added 5 scores
as St Ignatius shutout Loyola 20-0 on Thursday. Rosie Scannell and
Tara White each added 3 goals while Karen Juarez notched 2 scores in
the victory. Jenny Stelnicki also made 8 saves and earned the
shutout victory for SICP.
Lyons 7 New Trier 5
Caroline Walsh, Emma Hirt and Kaysie Stuba each scored 2 times as
the Lions overcame an early 2-1 deficit to beat New Trier 7-5. Julia
Cohen also scored once and drew 8 ejections while Jessie Wittenberg
made 9 saves for the winning side. Kaleigh Dolan and Lauren Barrett
each scored 2 times and Stephanie Jodloman scored once in the loss
for the Trevians.
Stevenson 12 Mother McAuley 1
Allison Travetto totaled 7 goals and Melissa Gartenberg chipped in
with 2 scores and 6 assists to help lift the Patriots' over Mother
McAuley 12-1 on Thursday night. Annika Hotchkiss, Autumn Hoang and
Claire Haas each tallied one score and Lauren Burns denied 9 shots
as well in the win. Fran Bauer netted the lone goal and Geena Peyton
made 7 saves in the loss for the Mighty Macs.
Fenwick 13 Lyons 8
The fourth-ranked Friars claimed a 13-8 victory over Lyons in their
tournament-opening game on Friday in Oak Park. Clare Durkin totaled
5 goals and Kelly Frumkin scored 4 times in the win for the Friars.
Caroline Walsh connected on 4 shots and Julia Cohen netted 2 goals
in the loss for the Lions.
Mother McAuley 8 Homewood-Flossmoor 1
The Mighty Macs jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead and added to their
advantage early in the second half to beat H-F 8-1 on Friday. Claire
Mueller, Fran Bauer and Julie Olivares each scored 2 times in the
victory. Emily Mathews scored the lone goal in the
loss for the Vikings.
Naperville North 14 Mundelein 2
The Huskies grabbed a 14-2 victory over Mundelein in the
tournament-opening game for both squads. Katie Horn and Taylor
Stoner both scored 3 goals, Alli Horn and Elle Matern both recorded
2 goals and Christina McBride made 8 stops in the win for the
Huskies. Amber McClure, Meredith Conway and Olivia Eiken each added
one score for the victors. Lauren Blake scored both goals in the
loss for the Mustangs.
Fenwick 13 New Trier 7
The Friars moved on to the first place group of their own event
after picking up their second victory of the night, a 13-7 decision
over New Trier. Brittany Wallace totaled 6 goals while Eryn Kulik
recorded 3 goals in the winning effort. Lauren Barrett scored 3
times and Maria Breen put in 2 goals in the Trevians' loss.
Naperville Central 13 Homewood-Flossmoor 3
The Redhawks evened out their tournament record after beating H-F
13-3 on Friday night. Kaela Codo put in 5 scores and Emily Rodgers
scored 3 times for a Central team that built a 6-1 halftime lead en
route to the victory. Emily Westlove led the defense with 5 steals
and Sara Campbell made 9 saves in the win.
St Ignatius 15 Mundelein 1
Diana Fernandez netted 5 goals and both Karen Juarez and Stephania
Lopez scored 3 times in a 15-1 win for St Ignatius over Mundelein.
Tara White also scored 2 goals for the victors. Emily Garcia put in
the only goal in the loss for the Mustangs.
Naperville North 16 Loyola 5
Katie Horn recorded 5 goals and Taylor Stoner scored 3 times as the
Huskies knocked off Loyola 16-5. Julia Sajnaj tallied 4 scores in
the loss for the Ramblers.
Stevenson 14 Homewood-Flossmoor 3
Allison Travetto, Claire Haas and Melissa Gartenberg each scored 3
goals and Annika Hotchkiss put in 2 scores in Stevenson's 14-3 win
over H-F. Amber Barney netted 2 goals and Emily Mathews scored once
in the loss for the Vikings.
Naperville Central 11 Mother McAuley 7
Kaela Codo scored 5 goals and Beth Ryan netted 3 scores in the
Redhawks' 11-7 victory over McAuley. Maggie Hennigan and Tess Bowens
each scored 2 times in the loss for the Mighty Macs.
Loyola 11 Mundelein 9
Julia Sajnaj recorded 4 goals to lead Loyola past Mundelein 11-9.
Emily Garcia scored 6 times and Lauren Blake put in 3 scores in the
loss for the Mustangs.
St Ignatius 10 Naperville North 9
Jenny Stelnicki connected on the game-winning shot from midpool with
three seconds left in regulation to give the Wolfpack a
come-from-behind 10-9 victory over Naperville North. Karen Juarez
and Tara White both scored 3 goals, Stephania Lopez scored 2 times
and Rosie Scanell scored once in the Wolfpack win. Katie Horn
registered 4 scores and Jilian Eiken scored 3 times in the loss for
the Huskies. Alli Horn and Eley Matern each added one goal in the
losing effort.
Homewood-Flossmoor 8 Mundelein 5
Kelly Morrissey scored 4 goals to help lead the Vikings to an 8-5
win over Mundelein.
New Trier 14 Loyola 3
Kaleigh Dolan, Julia Green, Sarah Caywood and Stephanie Jodloman
each scored 3 goals to help lead the Trevians past Loyola 14-3.
Julia Sajnaj netted 2 goals and Claire Voss scored once in the loss
for Loyola.
Naperville North 6 Lyons 5
Eley Matern scored the game-winning goal in the final minute of
Naperville North's 6-5 victory over Lyons. The Huskies trailed for
most of the game before a 3-1 run in the final period helped them
secure the win. Lauren Liberio also scored 2 times in the winning
effort. Caroline Walsh led the Lions with 2 scores in the loss.
Fenwick 6 St Ignatius 6
Stephania Lopez scored two late goals in the final period and both
goalies (Anna Sullivan, Jenny Stelnicki) made key saves in the last
minute as the Friars and Wolfpack finished tied 6-6 at the end of
regulation. Lopez scored 3 goals and Diana Fernandez put in 2 goals
for SICP, while Kelly Frumkin scored 3 goals and Catie Wallace
netted 2 scores for the Friars.
New Trier 4 Mother McAuley 3
Lydia O'Connell scored the eventual game-winner early in the fourth
quarter of New Trier's 4-3 win over Mother McAuley. Lauren Barrett
scored 2 times and Stephanie Jodloman added one goal in the win for
the Trevians. Claire Mueller, Fran Bauer and Julie Olivares each
scored once in the loss for the Mighty Macs.
Lyons 11 Naperville Central 5
Caroline Walsh and Julia Cohen each registered 3 goals and Erin Yang
tallied 2 scores as the Lions walked away with an 11-5 win over
Naperville Central. Emma Hirt and Kaysie Stuba each added one score
in the win for LT. Kaela Codo notched 3 scores in the loss for
Central.
Stevenson 10 Fenwick 9
Allison Travetto's counterattack goal with less than two minutes
remaining helped seal Stevenson's 10-9 victory over Fenwick as the
Patriots won the Mike Murphy Tournament on Saturday evening. The
victors responded to a 6-3 deficit with a 4-1 run in the second half
to even the score before Travetto's heroics.
Melissa Gartenberg and Travetto each scored 4 times while Annika
Hotchkiss and Autumn Hoang each put in key goals in the victory.
Gartenberg, who made 10 steals in the game, also forced a key
turnover on Fenwick's final possession to seal the win. She also
dished out 4 assists while Lauren Burns stopped 11 shots in the win.
Catie Wallace scored 4 goals, Eryn Kulik and Kelly Frumkin each
registered 2 scores and Jillian Wickham scored once in the losing
effort. Anna Sullivan also blocked 8 shots in the losing effort.
