The Trevians finally got past the Ramblers in last year's GBN Sectional final to advance to state; this mid-season battle could be a preview of another classic postseason showdown between the two nonconference rivals.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON

5:00pm - #22 Homewood-Flossmoor at #11 Sandburg

The two regular season matches between the Vikings and Eagles are always heated, so expect more of the same with both teams hoping to lay claim to the SWSC Blue title this year.

The Mustangs head out on the road to take on New Trier in a nonconference affair; both teams finished with a 1-3 record at last weekend's Fenwick Tournament but did not cross paths at the event.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON

6:00pm - #24 York at #9 Oak Park

The Huskies play host to York in a West Suburban Conference tilt on Wednesday evening; the Huskies are perfect in the conference so far, but the Dukes will hope to shake things up in the standings with an upset win. OPRF won the first meeting 14-3 back in mid-March at the Northside Tournament.

MATCH OF THE DAY

Loyola 10 New Trier 3

The Ramblers built a 6-2 halftime lead en route to a 10-3 victory over New Trier on Wednesday. Cameron Shewchuck led the way for the Loyola offense with 7 goals, while Tom Baker netted 2 scores and Matt Kearney scored once. Alex Grant, Chandler Tempest, and Jack Vorwald each scored once in the loss for the Trevians.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Andrew 16 Lincoln-Way West 7

Alex Gacek and Chuck Walters each scored 4 times and Tim Yara totaled 13 saves and 3 assists to help Andrew get past LWW 16-7. Andrew Wojdyla and Eric Tamulonis both put in 2 scores and Dan Cavato and Mike Tamulonis notched one goal apiece in the winning effort.

 

Hersey 19 Schaumburg 10

Connor Reynolds scored 5 times and George Vladimirov, Jack Carroll, and Michael Buffa each registered 4 goals in the Huskies 19-10 victory over the Saxons. James Birriel scored 7 goals and Austin Borst added 2 goals in the loss for Schaumburg.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 11 Bradley 8

Kyle Forsythe and Tristan Funk both recorded 3 goals and Jake Burke stopped 10 shots as the Knights got past Bradley 11-8. Pat Burke added 2 goals and Ryan Sterling totaled one goal, 3 assists, and 4 steals in the win. Nick Dalzell tallied 4 scores and Grant Langfoss netted 3 goals in the loss for the Boilers.

 

Lyons 19 Hinsdale Central 7

Nathan Kriha scored 5 goals, George Duffy netted 4 goals, and Jack Linden blocked 7 shots in LT's 19-7 triumph over the Red Devils. Tommy Kaptur and Thomas Waters each added 3 scores and Matt McDonnell put in 2 goals in the win for the Lions.

 

Maine South 13 Lane 4

Makai DeNeve-Arnam and Phil Wachowski both scored 3 goals to help lift the Hawks over Lane 13-4 in a nonconference contest. Alex Sulek, Conor Brosnan, Dominic Pilolla, Ernest Mato, Matt Cacciatore, Nick Calarco and Ben Tatlock and each tallied one score in the win for South. Alex Carreon and Israel Valle both notched 2 scores in the loss for the Indians.

 

Maine West 13 Jones-Payton 4

Sebastien Hernandez scored 3 goals and Paul Bilski made 15 saves in the Warriors' 13-4 triumph over Jones-Payton. Brendan Atwood, Bryan Weller, Dylan Schlimka, and Tony Connor each added 2 goals in the win for West.

 

Oak Park 11 York 8

James Kelly and Mark Hallman both scored 3 times to lead Oak Park past York 11-8 in a key conference game on Wednesday in Elmhurst. Wil Hubert recorded 4 goals in the loss for the Dukes.

 

Sandburg 12 Homewood-Flossmoor 8

Zach Roper recorded 7 goals and Mitch Zieler notched 4 scores as the Eagles pulled away from H-F in the second half to grab an 12-8 win on Wednesday in a key SWSC Blue fixture. Sean McNicholas also stopped 13 shots for Sandburg. Broc Thompson and Haden Santefort each scored 3 times and Jakobi McClellan made 13 saves in the loss for the Vikings.

 

St Viator 10 Glenbrook North 6

Tommy Madaras registered 4 scores, Connor Loy and Keegan Finn each tallied 2 goals, and Frank Skorski made 13 saves in the Lions' 10-6 triumph over GBN. Brennan McGuire and Eric Sutton both scored once in the win for the hosts. John Roberts, Phil Vidovits, and Robert Liberman each scored 2 goals and goalie Sam Fishman stopped 14 shots in the loss for the Spartans.

 

Westinghouse 18 Steinmetz 2

Anfernee Sturdivant scored 7 goals to lead Westinghouse past Steinmetz 18-2 on Wednesday.

Allison Boothe scored 6 goals and Karrie Kozokar added 2 goals as Mundelein defeated New Trier 9-4 on Wednesday. Emily Garcia also punched in one score in the win for the Mustangs. Stephanie Jodloman put in 3 goals, Lauren Barrett scored once, and Keelin Frank saved 10 shots in the loss for the Trevians.

Andrew 16 Lincoln-Way West 2

Megan Hofer recorded 5 goals and Caily Friel added 4 scores as the T-Bolts earned a 16-2 win over LWW on Wednesday. Genny McCarthy also scored 3 times, Aoife Burke netted 2 scores, and both Beth Koson and Alison Sifuentes chipped in with one score. Anna Tamulonis and Catherine Stouffer combined to make 6 saves and allow 2 goals in the win.

 

Barrington 15 Elk Grove 6

Sam Gavars scored 6 times and Mia Latimer notched 3 scores in the Fillies' 15-6 victory over Elk Grove. Mia Latimer added 3 goals and Maddi Burrell stopped 6 shots in the win for the hosts. Dominika Struk put in 4 goals in the loss for the Grenadiers.

 

Conant 12 Buffalo Grove 3

Carmen Rosas totaled 5 goals and 4 steals and Maddy Demaret blocked 8 shots as Conant beat Buffalo Grove 12-3. Angie Skittone, Claire Rosas, and Emily Weingart each tallied 2 scores in the Cougars' win. Alicia Harris scored 2 times and Jessi Graziano added one goal in the loss for the Bison.

 

Fremd 10 Wheeling 7

Tami Carlson notched 6 scores and Emma Hoffman netted 3 goals as the Vikings outscored Wheeling 6-3 in the second half to earn a 10-7 victory over the Wildcats. Megan Younker added one score and Emma Jeronimus saved 7 shots in Fremd win. Theresa Godlewski recorded 5 goals, Emily Sowa scored 2 times, and Jenna Pink made 8 saves in the losing effort.

 

Hersey 13 Schaumburg 3

Jill Hoffman, Katie Lindholm, and Stephanie Surkin each tallied 3 scores in the Huskies' 13-3 triumph over Schaumburg. Danielle Grubb notched 2 scores in the loss for the Saxons.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 12 Bradley 1

Kim Bernhard and Kristi Howe each scored 3 goals and Sabrina Miglorini stopped 8 shots as the Knights defeated Bradley 12-1. Delaney Shepard added 2 goals and Liz Klock, Michelle Dundek, Nikki Howe, and Erin Muellerschoen all scored once in the winning effort. Katie Lehman scored the lone goal for Bradley.

 

Lyons 9 Hinsdale Central 3

Julia Cohen recorded 4 goals and Meredith Land put in 3 scores as the Lions beat Hinsdale Central 9-3 on Wednesday. Frankie Delleman and Haley Hughes each added one score, Jessie Wittenberg made 5 saves, and Land and Caroline Walsh combined to make 8 steals. Caroline Oakum, Clayton Riedl, and Heather DeBoer each scored once while Gracie Dunn totaled 8 saves and 3 steals in the loss for Central.

 

Maine West 17 Jones-Payton 14

Holly Wasicak totaled 5 goals and Annie Pichiotti and Emily Morrison each recorded 4 scores to lead the Warriors past Jones-Payton 17-14 in a nonconference affair on Wednesday. Daniella Bucior, Lilly Jensen, and Lucia Garrett combined to stop 21 shots in the win for West.

 

Oak Park 13 York 1

Genevieve Curry, Katie Appell, and Maura Dahl each recorded 3 goals and Jordin Hale stopped 8 shots in Oak Park's 13-1 victory over York. Claire Rolfes, Grace Martin, Jilly Cronin, and Maddie Wolfe each added one score in the Huskies' win.

 

Palatine 5 Prospect 4

Caroline Wojtas scored a rebound goal with two seconds left to help Palatine earn a 5-4 win over Prospect in an MSL crossover match on Wednesday. Wojtas scored 2 goals and Kim Butler stopped 17 shots, while Emily Seidl, Jackie Kincanon, and Maryana Dvorska each added one goal in the win. Niki Neumann scored 2 times and both Danielle McCallister and Mary Schiavone tallied one goal apiece in the loss.

 

Sandburg 11 Homewood-Flossmoor 7

The Eagles outscored the Vikings 7-3 in the second half to pull away and earn an 11-7 victory in a SWSC Blue contest on Wednesday. Statistics for Sandburg coming soon. Kelly Morrissey and Megan Dunlavy put in 2 goals apiece while Amber Barney, Emily Mathews and Sarah Tozer each scored once for H-F.
