Hoffman Claims First Tournament Win of the Century
Hoffman beat Maine East 8-2 in
the title game of the Hersey Tournament after earning wins over Andrew and
Elk Grove to win the Hersey Tournament on Saturday. Logan Gizel totaled 27
saves and the Hawks' defense allowed only 7 shots in the title game win
over the Blue Demons. Sang M Han scored 4 times in the title game win,
while Mike Christen and Sang W Han both scored 2 goals for head coach
Chris Fetterman's squad. In Hoffman's 9-3 victory over Andrew, Christen
scored 4 goals and Sang M Han totaled 2 scores to get the Hawks into the
title game. Gizel also earned a shutout in Hoffman's 18-0 win over Elk
Grove.

North Tournament
Niemeier Leads
Sandburg To Tournament Glory
Erik Niemeier scored 6 goals in
a title game win over Stagg and also helped the Eagles beat Naperville
North and STC North at the NN Tournament by drawing a total of 17
ejections in the three-game set on Saturday. Stagg went 2-1 with wins over
Schaumburg and Fremd, while the hosts beat the Saxons 13-12 in the third
place game to end the day with a 2-1 mark.
St Charles North topped Fremd
14-12 in overtime in the fifth place game, as Justin Jacobson and Kyle
Passini both scored 4 times in the first win of the day for the North
Stars. Passini scored 11 goals in the tournament to lead STC North.
St Patrick
Tournament
H-F Wins St Patrick Tournament
Homewood-Flossmoor beat Brother
Rice 7-6 and downed Loyola 9-4 on Saturday to claim the St Patrick Tourney
title. Shay Banton totaled 13 goals and was named the official tournament
MVP for his efforts in leading the Vikings to a 4-0 record. Luke Dobben
also scored 20 goals and Jacob Bodnar allowed an average of less than four
goals per game over the weekend.
Brother Rice finished in second
place after outlasting Loyola 4-3 in overtime in the night's final game.
Kyle Pikula and Mike Mulcrone combined to score 18 goals as the Crusaders
finished the tournament with a 3-1 record.
The Ramblers had to settle for a
third place finish after their narrow loss to Rice at the end of the day.
Robbie O'Connor stood out for Loyola, as he allowed just five goals per
game.
Young finished in fourth place
with a 3-1 mark after beating Loyola, Libertyville, and Waubonsie on
Saturday. Seth Hughes scored 13 goals and Edgar Lopez added 10 scores for
the Dolphins in the four-game event.

McHenry Excels at Stevenson Tournament
Alex Birkle made 38 saves,
including a penalty shot block in the final minute of a one-goal win over
Latin, as McHenry finished 3-0 at the Stevenson Tournament on Saturday.
The Warriors also beat Oak Park 13-9 and the hosts by a 12-2 score to
improve to 15-4 in 2011. Kyle Braun scored 10 times and Tim Briscoe added
6 goals in the three McHenry victories.
Oak Park beat Latin 18-16 to
finish in second place, Latin topped Stevenson 16-9 for third place, while
the hosts ended the day with an 0-3 record to finish in fourth position.

Tournament
Vernon Hills
Beats Barrington To Win Former Lake County Event
Dana Andrea scored 4 goals and
Anna Lebiedzinksi added 3 scores as Vernon Hills beat Barrington 11-8 in
the tournament opener, a game that would eventually decide the event's
title winner. Both teams finished with a 2-1 record, but the Cougars'
opening-game win gave them the overall decision over the Fillies. Andrea
totaled 11 goals and Lebiedzinksi finished with 7 scores as Vernon Hills
also beat Lake Forest 12-7 before losing to Libertyville 9-6.
Barrington beat Libertyville
13-7 in the third game of the day, then outlasted Lake Forest 12-10 in a
shootout to close out the event. Catherine Byron and Kate Luedtke both
scored 7 times to help the Fillies finish with a 2-1 mark at their own
tournament.
Lake Forest finished in third
place, beating Libertyville 12-4 in the tiebreaking game (both teams ended
the day with 1-2 records). Emily Nowlin totaled 21 goals over the weekend,
including a 9-goal performance in the win over the Wildcats.
Libertyville earned one win on
Saturday, as they beat the tournament-winning Cougars 9-6. Julie Ahlgrim
and Sam Voelker each put in 4 scores in the win, while Voelker led the
Wildcats at the event with a total of 8 goals.

Fenwick Makes Strong Statement In Tournament Win

Fenwick earned wins over
Homewood-Flossmoor and Loyola in the first place bracket of their own
tournament on Saturday to finish the event as the only team with a perfect
record.
The third day of the tournament proved to be a hectic
one from the start, as Mother McAuley shocked top-ranked Lyons 7-6 in the
first game of the day. That set the stage for some intriguing results,
including three draws...Loyola and New Trier finished in a 7-7 tie in a
sectional final rematch from 2010; Mundelein and St Thomas Aquinas ended
up even at 6-6; then Loyola and LT finished in a 7-7 draw on Saturday
morning.
H-F beat St Ignatius 10-7 on Saturday morning, then
lost 8-7 to Stevenson later in the afternoon. Meanwhile, the Wolfpack put
an end to the preliminary round with a dominating 18-7 victory over
Evanston.
Here is how the final round played out: Mother McAuley
edged Evanston 10-8 the tenth place game. Mundelein beat both New Trier
and Stevenson in the third place bracket. Lyons and St Ignatius both beat
St Thomas Aquinas to close out the second place bracket. Fenwick earned
victories over H-F and Loyola in the first place bracket to win the
tournament.

Lead Naperville North to HC Tournament Title
Megan Nerud scored 14 goals in
three games as Naperville North went 3-0 to win the Hinsdale Central
Tournament on Saturday. The Huskies beat Lincoln-Way North 9-8 in the
title game, while also downing the hosts 9-6 and STC North 16-10.
