THURSDAY'S GAME RECAPS

BOYS

Barrington 8 Meadows 5

Tom West scored 3 goals and Eric Beightol added 2 scores in Barrington's 8-5 win over Meadows. Chris Hoover also stopped 15 shots in the Broncos' victory. Sam Schmid scored 2 goals to lead the Mustangs in the losing effort.

 

Glenbrook South 14 Glenbrook North 10

Igor Gryniv and Will Porter both scored 4 goals and Pascal Lis added 3 scores for GBS in their 14-10 victory over GBN. Tom Meyer also recorded 18 saves in the win for the Titans. Matt Bacinich scored 6 times in the loss for the Spartans.

 

Hoffman 18 Elk Grove 3

Mike Christen totaled 7 scores and Adam Pasnicki added 3 goals as Hoffman cruised to an 18-3 victory over Elk Grove. Sang M Han also scored 3 goals and Sang W Han made 9 saves to earn the win in goal for the Hawks. Maverick Enolva scored all 3 goals for the Grenadiers in the losing effort.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 15 Andrew 5

Luke Dobben recorded 5 goals and Jacob Bodnar made 11 saves as H-F downed Andrew 15-5. Kevin Kuchta and Shay Banton both scored 2 times and Banton totaled 5 assists in the Vikings' win.

 

McHenry 17 STC North 6

The Warriors improved to 12-4 with a 17-6 win over St Charles North on Thursday night. Eight players tallied goals for the Warriors in the victory. Joey Chokran scored 2 times to lead the North Stars in the losing effort.

 

Mundelein 14 Wheeling 9

Connor Black and Sean Falconer both scored 4 times as Mundelein jumped out to an 8-2 halftime lead en route to a 14-9 win over Wheeling. Frank Lukacs added 3 scores and Quinn Larsen scored 2 times, while goalie Jakub Sierzputowski made 12 saves in the Mustangs' victory. Clark Jensen scored 4 times and Shane McDade made 20 saves in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

New Trier 19 Deerfield/Highland Park 13

Konrad VonMoltke totaled 10 goals to lead New Trier to a 19-13 victory over Deerfield/Highland Park. Notie Moyer recorded 8 scores in the loss for Deer Park.

 

Palatine 15 Buffalo Grove 9

Kamil Mulawa scored 8 goals and helped start a 6-0 Palatine run with three straight scores in the second quarter as Palatine pulled away from Buffalo Grove and earned a 15-9 win on Thursday night. John Giuliano scored 4 goals, Dylan Weissman added 2 scores, and Dan Sommerfield made 12 blocks in the Pirates' victory. Ian Rodriguez tallied 5 scores in the loss for the Bison.

 

Stagg 15 Lincoln-Way East 3

Zach Golob scored 4 times and Drew Stoffel and Juan Valdez each added 3 scores as Stagg beat LWE 15-3. Christian Villaneuva made 10 saves in the victory for the Chargers.

 

St Viator 14 Maine South 7

Gregg O'Connor registered 5 goals and Peter Cleary added 3 scores to help lift St Viator to a 14-7 victory over Maine South. Ed Soler and Justin Imhoff each added 2 scores in the win for the Lions.

 

Waubonsie Valley 10 St Charles East 5

The Warriors put together a 5-1 third quarter run that helped them pull away from STC East and earn a 10-5 win on Thursday. Blake Hollis and Tyler Hunt both scored 4 times in the win for Waubonsie. Stephen Mason recorded 4 goals in the loss for the Saints.


GIRLS

Fremd 10 Hersey 5

Lauren Zambelli and Sam del Prado each scored 3 times and Sam Matuszewski recorded 2 scores as Fremd knocked off Hersey 10-5 on Thursday afternoon. Julie Conrath stopped 11 shots in the victory for the Vikings. Christine Rovani tallied all 5 goals in the loss for the Huskies.

 

Hoffman 9 Elk Grove 4

Rachael Gallo totaled 5 goals and Vishwa Shah added 3 scores to help lead Hoffman to a 9-4 victory over Elk Grove. Alex Vick and Kristyn Furst combined to save 12 shots in the Hawks' win. Jordan Crocker scored 3 times in the loss for the Grenadiers.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 13 Andrew 1

Rebecca Mathews tallied 4 goals and Hannah Ongman and Michelle Mayer both scored 3 times as H-F topped Andrew 13-1. Annie Schloen added 2 goals and Sophie Schloen made 9 saves in the victory for the Vikings. Megan Hoffer scored the lone goal for the T-Bolts.

 

Metea Valley 8 Hinsdale Central 7

Mia Palladino recorded 4 goals and Sean Birkholz made 20 saves as Metea Valley defeated Hinsdale Central 8-7. Alex Conti added 2 scores in the win for the Mustangs.

 

Naperville Central 18 York 4

Abbey Kerth and Emily Sejna each scored 4 goals and Robyn Stanley added 3 scores as Naperville Central rolled to an 18-4 victory over York to stay perfect (15-0) in 2011. Allison Susin and Lauren Gunn each added 2 goals and Julia Campbell made 14 saves in the Redhawks' win. Jamie Redmond led the Dukes with 2 goals in the loss.

 

Northside 10 Latin 9

Meghan Quigley scored 4 times and Lisa Echeverria and Rhyan White both chipped in with 2 scores as Northside held off Latin 10-9 on Thursday. Ashley Henderson recorded 7 goals in the loss for the Romans.

 

Oak Park 12 Hinsdale South 4

Kimmy Stefanik totaled 4 goals and 5 steals and Jessie Conti added 3 scores to help lift Oak Park over Hinsdale South 12-4. Abby Vogt and Alison Coogan each added 2 scores and Katie Hunt recorded a goal and drew 5 ejections in the Huskies' win.

 

Prospect 17 Conant 9

Meg Dix scored 8 goals to lead Prospect to a 17-9 win over Conant. Jessica Cavaiani and Lisa Mazur each added 3 scores in the win for the Knights. Andie Cobb recorded 3 scores in the loss for the Cougars.

 

Sandburg 12 Marian 3

Tara Capouch scored 5 goals, Jamie Pappanastos totaled 3 goals and 3 assists, and Korey Flynn made 10 saves as Sandburg bounced back from yesterday's loss to Andrew with a convincing 12-3 win over Marian. Amy Martello, Carlee Wieser, and Paige Wieser each put in one goal in the loss for the Spartans.

 

St Viator 14 Maine South 2

Margaret Stefanowski and Melanie Battaglia each recorded 4 goals and both Eileen Malloff and Megan Shover scored 2 times in St Viator's 14-2 victory over Maine South.

 

Fenwick Tournament

Loyola 11 McAuley 8

Brittany Wallace, Evan Swenson, and Rachel Nieman each scored 3 goals as Loyola held off Mother McAuley 11-8. Caitlin Sershon added 2 scores in the win, while goalies Kristina Alexander and Meredith O'Brien combined to make 8 saves for the Ramblers.

 

New Trier 8 McAuley 7

Erika Nothnagel scored 6 goals and Zaz Saclarides made 9 saves as New Trier ended the night with an 8-7 victory over McAuley. Isabelle Baneaux added 2 scores in the win for the Trevians.

MATCH OF THE DAY

Lincoln-Way East at Stagg (5:00pm) - The Chargers face another tough SWSC test at the end of the week when they host LWE.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

McHenry at STC North (6:00pm) - The Warriors will be in for a tough challenge when they travel to St Charles to take on the dangerous North Stars.


GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Fenwick vs Mundelein (6:40pm) - The Friars' begin their own tournament campaign with a tantalizing matchup against Mundelein.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Loyola vs McAuley (5:50pm) - The Catholic League rivals meet just one week after the Ramblers beat the Macs 9-6 in league play.
