BOYS

Fremd 12 Prospect 2

Ryan Helsdingen tallied 5 scores and Andre Degla pitched in with 3 goals in Fremd's 12-2 triumph over Prospect on Thursday.

 

Highland Park 12 Deerfield 9

Garrett Lessem scored 5 goals to help the Giants beat Deerfield 12-9. Kevin Ewing scored 7 times in the loss for the Warriors.

 

Lockport 16 R-B 7

Dave Hir scored 5 times as the Porters knocked off R-B 16-7 in nonconference action.

 

Palatine 16 Elk Grove 7

Christian Kalfas slammed home 9 goals in the Pirates' 16-7 MSL crossover victory over Elk Grove.

 

Sandburg 9 Homewood-Flossmoor 5

Stephen Zieler recorded 4 goals, Mike O'Malley pitched in with 3 scores, and Mike Malecki saved 8 shots in the Eagles' 9-5 victory over the Vikings.

 

Schaumburg 9 Buffalo Grove 7

Randy Carr totaled 6 goals and 4 steals and Marty Faleni made 12 saves as Schaumburg edged BG 9-7. Ian Rodriguez tallied 6 scores for the Bison in the losing effort.

 

Stagg 11 Bradley 9

Ray Dunne and Spencer Krivanec each scored 3 times and Jihad Ramadan blocked 12 shots to help the Chargers down the Boilers 11-9.

 

STC East 14 Glenbrook North 13 (OT)

Stephen Mason scored 5 goals and Mitch Phelps added 4 scores, including the game-winner in overtime, as the Saints slipped past GBN 14-13 in extra time on Thursday. Matt VanGyseghem also scored 2 goals and Nick Fagen accumulated 16 saves and did not allow a goal in the extra session for the winners. Gleb Medvedev scored 4 times in the loss for the Spartans.

 

GIRLS

Andrew 12 Lincoln-Way West 11 (2 OT)

Laura Freeman scored with :26 left in sudden-death overtime to lift the T-Bolts past LWW 12-11. Andrew trailed by a goal in the final minute of regulation, but Caleigh Panice tied the score with :17 left to send the game to extras. The T-Bolts clinged to a one goal lead in the closing stages of the second OT period, but the Warriors' Allison Rocha tied the game with :08 left on the clock in the second overtime period to send the game to its' thrilling conclusion. Neither team could record the golden goal as the defenses put the clamps down in the first two minutes of sudden-death play, but Freeman notched her second score to seal the Andrew win.

 

Abbey Wrobel and Lindsey Tamulonis each scored 3 times for the winners, while Freeman and Eva Fuger both recorded 2 goals for Andrew. Jordan Bartolini ended up making 23 saves for the T-Bolts. Rocha put in 7 scores for the Warriors, while Gena Tanquilut netted 2 goals in the loss for LWW.

 

Barrington 8 Wheeling 7

Kate Luedtke and Sam Gavars each tallied 3 scores and Brooke Fanslow made 11 saves as Barrington eked out an 8-7 win over Wheeling. The Fillies, who trailed 4-2 at halftime, outscored the Wildcats 6-3 in the second half to improve to 8-1. Heather Murphy and Leah Malsom both scored 3 times in the loss.

 

Conant 12 Meadows 0

Cougars' goalie Jessica Davis earned her first shutout as Conant defeated Meadows 12-0 on Thursday.

 

Fremd 10 Prospect 2

Sam del Prado and Taylor Spoonholtz each registered 2 scores for the Vikings as they upended Prospect 10-2 on Thursday evening. Julie Conrath also made 13 saves in the win for Fremd. Prospect goaltender Amanda Drucker made 14 saves in the losing effort.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 18 Sandburg 11

Rebecca Mathews scored 13 goals (on 17 shots) to lead H-F to an 18-11 victory over Sandburg in SWSC action on Thursday. Tess Adamonis added 2 scores and Anna Shirer blocked 8 shots in the Vikings' win. Jamie Pappanastos recorded 6 goals and Cara Hayes pitched in with 3 scores in the loss for the Eagles.

 

Latin 10 Resurrection 8 (OT)

Ashley Henderson recorded 9 goals, including the game-winner in overtime, as Latin topped Resurrection 10-8 to earn their first win of the season.

 

Metea Valley 11 Hinsdale Central 5

Lizzie Hollopeter netted 4 goals and Alex Conti added 3 scores in the Mustangs' 11-5 win over Hinsdale Central on Thursday. Katelyn Apple also scored 2 times in the victory for Metea.

 

Naperville Central 16 Naperville North 3

Abbey Kerth recorded 7 goals, becoming Naperville Central's all-time scoring leader, as the Redhawks knocked off rival Naperville North 16-3 on Thursday. Erin Reagan registered 2 scores and Julia Campbell made 9 saves in the winning effort.

 

Oak Park 9 Hinsdale South 4

Katie Appell poured in 8 goals to lead the Huskies past the Hornets 9-4 on Thursday.

 

Palatine 8 Elk Grove 3

Nicole Theis scored 5 goals, Nicole Huffman notched 2 scores, and Hannah Otis denies 11 shots as the Pirates beat Elk Grove 8-3.

 

Resurrection 15 Deer Park 4

Maggie Blume tallied 6 goals in the Bandits' 15-4 victory over Deer Park on Thursday night.

 

Schaumburg 4 Buffalo Grove 3

Kristy Bessler recorded the game-winning goal and Rachel Fish scored 2 times as Schaumburg defeated Buffalo Grove 4-3 on Thursday. Ashley Johnson added a goal and 5 steals and Jessica Sumsky blocked 18 shots in the Saxons' win. Julie Pater notched 2 scores for the Bison in the losing cause.

 

Stevenson 10 Mundelein 5

Cami Haas totaled 3 scores and Lisa Michalowski made 12 saves in Stevenson's 10-5 win over Mundelein on Thursday. The Patriots led 6-2 at halftime and extended their lead to 9-3 after three quarters to beat their main rivals. Brittany Gartenberg, Erin McCook, and Rachel Lauter each scored 2 times in the win for SHS. Allie Booth recorded 2 goals for the Mustangs in the losing effort.

MATCH OF THE DAY

Homewood-Flossmoor at Sandburg

Two powerhouse SWSC Blue teams meet for the first time in 2012 to determine who will take over sole possession of the top spot in the conference midway through the season. The Vikings (8-5) escaped with an overtime win over LWE on Wednesday night, while the Eagles (7-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season (at Latin) to beat LWC on Wednesday.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Deerfield at Highland Park

The Warriors (0-7) seek their first win of the season against their former co-op partners as they travel to Highland Park to take on the Giants (2-10) in a unique CSL matchup on Thursday night.

 

GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Sandburg at Homewood-Flossmoor

The Eagles (9-5) look to rebound from a loss to LWC on Wednesday when they head to H-F to battle the Vikings (7-4) in what is always a tense affair.

Mundelein at Stevenson

The Mustangs (6-6) and Patriots (8-3) renew their longstanding rivalry in Lincolnshire on Thursday.
