BOYS

Bradley 10 Lincoln-Way North 8

The Boilers made a strong fourth quarter push to upset the Phoenix 10-8 on Wednesday night.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 12 Lincoln-Way East 11 (OT)

Kevin Kuchta scored 6 goals and Henry Weeks added 3 scores as H-F survived an overtime scare to beat LWE 12-11. Al Newell tallied 3 scores for the Griffins in the losing effort.

 

Loyola 17 New Trier 8

Charlie Dowdle poured in 8 goals and both Brendan Hulseman and Danny Stauder scored 2 times as the Ramblers knocked off New Trier 17-8. Jordan Palmer recorded 5 scores in the loss for the Trevians.

 

Neuqua Valley 18 STC North 8

Robert Vechiola totaled 7 goals and Kevin Patterson added 6 scores as Neuqua topped STC North 18-8. Will Russell netted 4 scores and Eric Stahl made 12 saves in the win for the Wildcats. Joey Chokran led the North Stars with 4 goals in the losing effort.

 

Sandburg 17 Lincoln-Way Central 5

Matt Veldman recorded 5 goals and Kevin Tunney notched 4 scores in Sandburg's 17-5 win over LWC.

 

Stagg 19 Lincoln-Way West 8

Jihad Ramadan blocked 11 shots to help the Chargers defeat LWW 19-8 on Wednesday.

 

STC East 18 Maine West 5

Mitch Phelps scored 5 goals and Matt Van Gyseghem, Sam Schultz, Shaun Seuschek, and Will Shanell all netted 2 scores in the Saints' 18-5 win over Maine West.

 

Stevenson 14 Mundelein 3

Chris Hodges scored 5 goals, Alex Shkiler netted 3 goals, and Kyle Plotsky scored 2 times as Stevenson jumped out to an 8-0 lead en route to a 14-3 victory over Mundelein. Robbie O'Brien allowed one goal in the first half and made 7 total saves in the Patriots' win. Jason Rehor, Mark Betti, and Mike Begrowicz each tallied one score in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Wheeling 8 Barrington 4

Ben Reiff scored 5 goals to lead the Wildcats past Barrington 8-4 on Wednesday in an MSL crossover.

 

GIRLS

Andrew 13 Waubonsie Valley 4

Jordan Bartolini made 15 saves and shutout Waubonsie Valley in the second half to help the T-Bolts earn a 13-4 victory in nonconference action on Wednesday. Abbey Wrobel registered 3 goals and Lindsey Tamulonis recorded 7 steals in the winning effort for Andrew.

 

Buffalo Grove 14 Maine West 9

Sara Fasching totaled 6 goals and Margaret Lotzer added 4 scores as BG knocked off Maine West 14-9. Amy Nakano and Carly Romano each scored 3 goals in the losing effort.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 11 Sandburg 10

Danijela Jackovich recorded 8 goals as LWC built a 7-4 halftime lead and withstood a late rally from the Eagles to emerge with an 11-10 victory on Wednesday. Brittany Kamper scored 4 times in the loss.

 

Lincoln-Way North 16 Bradley 6

Jenna Tasic totaled 6 goals as the Phoenix defeated Bradley 16-6 on Wednesday evening.

 

Lincoln-Way West 18 Stagg 5

Allison Rocha tallied 4 scores and both Cathey Eggert and Gena Tanquilut added 3 goals as LWW topped Stagg 18-5 in a SWSC Red contest. Liz Hadhazy put in 3 scores for the Chargers in the loss.

 

Maine East 12 Riverside-Brookfield 5

Medina Husejnovic scored 5 times and Maria Protic netted 4 scores in the Blue Demons' 12-5 victory over R-B. Isabelle Trier denied 17 shots in the win for East.

 

Naperville Central 17 Lockport 0

Julia Campbell (16 saves) and the Redhawks' defense held Lockport scoreless in a 17-0 shutout victory on Wednesday. Abbey Kerth notched 6 scores and Emily Sejna totaled 3 goals and 4 assists in the win.

 

New Trier 19 Lake Forest 10

Alexana Astor scored 8 times and Kelsey Willian put in 3 goals in the Trevians' 19-10 victory over Lake Forest. Isabelle Baneaux and Mary Molitor also scored 2 times in the victory for NT. Emily Nowlin led the Scouts with 7 goals.

 

STC North 10 Neuqua Valley 7

Mallory Hecht registered 5 goals and Sarah Stern netted 3 scores as STC North surprised Neuqua 10-7 on Wednesday. Claire Bultema totaled 2 goals and 5 assists, while Hannah Horsfall saved 9 shots in the win for the North Stars.

 

Wheeling 8 Vernon Hills 3

Leah Malsom scored 4 goals and Heather Murphy netted 3 scores in Wheeling's 8-3 triumph over Vernon Hills on Wednesday night.

New Trier at Loyola

One of the most highly anticipated matchups of the season has finally arrived, with the Trevians (8-2-1) heading over to Wilmette to battle Loyola (15-2) for the top seed in next month's GBS Sectional.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Mundelein at Stevenson

The rivalry continues between Mundelein (2-10) and Stevenson (9-4) on Wednesday night, with the hosts looking to continue their 2012 resurgence and the Mustangs looking to get their season on track after a rough start to their campaign.

 

GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Lincoln-Way Central at Sandburg

It's still early in the season, but both LWC (4-4) and Sandburg (9-4) remain perfect in the SWSC Blue; the winner will gain the upper-hand on the rest of the division as the second half of the season nears.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Wheeling at Vernon Hills

The Wildcats (6-1) and Cougars (7-1) meet in an intriguing nonconference matchup on Wednesday night; both teams look to avoid their second loss of the season and maintain their early season momentum.
