(Saturday, March 29)
FEATURED EVENT
NILES WEST TOURNAMENT
The Wolves will try to repeat
as tournament champions of their own event
when they host an eight-team event that kicked off on Friday
afternoon. Niles West plays in a group that contains Von Steuben, St
Rita, and Waubonsie Valley; the other group pits DeLaSalle, Maine
West, Metea Valley, and Stagg against one another. The championship
round decides the fate of all eight teams and begins on Saturday
afternoon.
OTHER KEY EVENTS
LAFAYETTE TOURNAMENT
Hinsdale South's weekend in Missouri continues with two matches against
Clayton and Summit before the championship round begins on Saturday
afternoon.
NORTHSIDE TOURNAMENT
Northside's annual tournament
gets started on Saturday morning with six schools mixing it up in a ten-game event. The hosts are joined by Bradley,
Lane, Maine East, Morgan Park, and Simeon.

ST IGNATIUS TOURNAMENT
The Wolfpack's college-style tournament continues on Saturday with ten games
between the attending teams. The hosts are joined by Buffalo
Grove, H-F, Loyola, Marian, New Trier, Northside, and Waubonsie Valley beginning at
8:00am in Chicago.
OTHER KEY EVENTS
LWE TOURNAMENT
Lincoln-Way East's annual
bracket-style tournament continues with the championship round on Saturday
afternoon, with the semifinal round winners meeting in the final game of
the event. LWC beat LWN 6-4 to win the tournament in 2013.
LYONS TOURNAMENT
Lyons welcomes
Evanston, Hinsdale South,
Mundelein, Neuqua, and Stevenson to Lagrange for a
six-team
event that begins on Saturday morning. The Patriots beat the hosts 11-4 to
win the event last year.

GAME RECAPS (Saturday, March 29)
NILES WEST TOURNAMENT
Stagg 17 Maine West 7
Evan Johnson recorded 4 goals and Connor Kaufmann registered 3 scores in
the Chargers' 17-7 triumph over Maine West.
Niles West 11 Waubonsie Valley 8
Steven Renko scored 5 times and Max Yusim netted 4 scores as the Wolves
overcame a 7-6 deficit with a 5-1 run in the fourth quarter to beat
Waubonsie Valley 11-8. Kyle Patt added 2 scores and goalie Matt Lefler
totaled 10 saves and 5 steals in the win.
DLS 9 Maine West 1
Danny Pedro scored 3 times and both Andrew Behena and Jeremy Siegel put in
2 goals as the Meteors advanced to the title game of the Niles West
Tournament after beating Maine West 9-1. Robert Rodriguez and Vinny
Scalise each added one score and Joe Koziol made 5 saves in the win.
Sebastian Hernandez scored the lone goal in the loss for the Warriors.
Niles West 18 St Rita 8
Kyle Patt and Max Yusim each scored 5 goals and Miguel Paloma led the
defense with 5 steals as Niles West used a 7-0 run in the fourth quarter
to put away the Mustangs to earn an 18-8 win on Saturday.
Stagg 16 Metea Valley 7
Zack Amendola led the Chargers' offense with 6 goals as they earned a 16-7
win over Metea Valley.
Waubonsie Valley 10 Stagg 9
The Warriors built a six-goal lead entering the final period and held off
a late charge from Stagg to win the third-place game 10-9 over the
Chargers. Zack Amendola recorded 5 goals and Connor Kaufmann made 7 steals
in the one-goal loss for Stagg.
Niles West 12 DLS 9
Kyle Patt scored 5 goals and Max Yusim scored 2 key goals in overtime as
the Wolves outlasted DLS 12-9 to win their own tournament on Saturday
night. The Wolves trailed throughout most of regulation but tied the score
with :00.25 remaining to force the extra session. Nick Opfer also scored 2
times and goalie Matt Lefler totaled 13 saves and 5 steals in the victory.
NORTHSIDE TOURNAMENT
Maine East 10 Lane 6
Mike Babula racked up 9 goals to lift the Blue Demons over Lane 10-6 on
Saturday.
Bradley 7 Maine East 5
Nick Dalzell totaled 3 goals and 3 assists and Adam Schroeder chipped in
with 2 scores as the Boilers got past Maine East 7-5.
Krystof Maniewski tallied 3 scores in the loss for the Blue Demons.
Bradley 10 Lane 7
Nick Dalzell totaled 4 goals and 5 assists to help lead the Boilers past
Lane 10-7 and into the Northside Tournament title game on Saturday. Mark
Hoffman also registered 3 scores in the win for Bradley.
Maine East 9 Morgan Park 2
Krystof Maniewski tallied
3 scores to help lead Maine East past Morgan Park 9-2 in the third-place
game of the Northside Tournament.
GAME RECAPS (Saturday, March 29)
LWE TOURNAMENT
Andrew 12 Lincoln-Way North 3
Megan Hofer netted 5 goals and both Caily Friel and Courtney Carter scored
2 times as Andrew defeated LWN 12-3 to claim third place at the LWE
Tournament. Alison Sifuentes, Beth Koson, and Genny McCarthy each added
one goal and the tandem of Anna Tamulonis and Catherine Stouffer totaled 9
blocks in the win for the T-Bolts. Emma Henley, Jessica Larson, and Niki
Beringer each scored once in the loss for the Phoenix.
Lincoln-Way East 10 Lincoln-Way Central 0
Aimee Schaaf scored 3 goals, Haley McCabe and Lauren Vandervelde each
netted 2 scores, and goalie Jill Connolly stopped 7 shots and earned a
shutout as LWE beat LWC 10-0 to win their own event on Saturday afternoon.
McCabe also totaled 5 assists and 6 steals in the winning effort.
LYONS TOURNAMENT
Lyons 12 Neuqua Valley 3
Caroline Walsh scored 4 times, Haley Hughes netted 3 goals, and
Julia Cohen scored 2 goals as the Lions beat Neuqua Valley 12-3 in
the LT Tournament's opening game. Walsh led the defense with 6
steals and Jesse Wittenberg added 3 assists for the victors. Lauren
Backe tallied 2 scores and Issi French made 10 saves in the loss for
the Wildcats.
Stevenson 18 Lyons 'B' 4
Melissa Gartenberg scored 5 goals and Allison Travetto scored 4
times to lead Stevenson past Lyons 18-4 on Saturday. Autumn Hoang
and Joanie Newland each added 3 goals, while Becky Callen and Lauren
Burns combined to save 10 shots in the win. Olivia Land scored 2
times and Maddie Janik stopped 8 shots in the loss for the Lions.
Lyons 11 Mundelein 4
Caroline Walsh recorded 3 goals and Emma Hirt, Frankie Delleman,
Julia Cohen, and Meredith Land all registered 2 goals as the Lions
knocked off Mundelein 11-4.
Stevenson 8 Evanston 7
Allison Travetto registered 5 goals, Joanie Newland netted 2 scores,
and Becky Callen made 13 saves as the Patriots held off Evanston 8-7
to advance to the event's title game. Alexa Koltyar also scored a
key goal in the win for Stevenson. Madison Collins scored 3 times
and Sydney Bernadel made 9 saves in the loss for the Wildkits.
Neuqua Valley 7 Lyons 'B' 6
Lauren Backe scored 3 times and Kaitlyn Gorski added 2 goals as the
Wildcats beat Lyons to walk away from the event with their first win
and a fifth-place finish. Grace Wackerman and Maddie Cordell both
scored 2 goals in the loss for the Lions.
Lyons 8 Stevenson 7 (OT)
Haley Hughes scored 3 goals and Jesse Wittenberg saved 9 shots as
Lyons defeated Stevenson 8-7 in overtime to win their own event on
Saturday. Caroline Walsh and Frankie Delleman each scored 2 times,
while Walsh contributed 4 assists for the winners. Allison Travetto
put in 3 goals, Melissa Gartenberg registered 2 scores, and Becky
Callen blocked 12 shots in the loss for the Patriots. Autumn Hoang
and Joanie Newland also scored once in the loss for the visitors.
ST IGNATIUS TOURNAMENT
St Ignatius 13 Homewood-Flossmoor 1
Tammy Stelnicki registered 4 goals and Diana Fernandez tallied 3
scores to help the Wolfpack earn a 13-1 win over H-F. Karen Juarez
and Nina Mantich each added 2 scores and both Maggie Maloney and
Olivia Evangelides scored once for the hosts.
Loyola 4 New Trier 3
The Ramblers earned another one-goal win over their rivals on
Saturday morning as they fended off New Trier 4-3. Marta Considine
registered 3 scores and Claire Voss netted one goal in Loyola's win.
Lauren Barrett, Maria Breen, and Stephanie Jodloman each put in one
goal and Keelin Frank made 9 saves in the loss for the Trevians.
St Ignatius 11 New Trier 2
Tammy Stelnicki scored 5 times and Jenny Stelnicki stopped 12 shots
as the Wolfpack defeated New Trier 11-2 on Saturday afternoon. Diana
Fernandez, Karen Juarez, and Stephania Lopez each tallied 2 scores
in the win for SICP. Natalie Goldman scored both goals and Keelin
Frank denied 12 shots in the loss for the Trevians.
New Trier 15 Waubonsie Valley 3
Jacqueline Glattard,
Lauren Barrett, and Maria Breen each scored 3 times and Keelin Frank
made 9 saves as the Trevians downed Waubonsie Valley 15-3. Julia
Green and Kaleigh Dolan each added 2 scores while Natalie Goldman
and Stephanie Jodloman each tacked on one score for the victors.
