TOURNAMENT REPORT
Preview
The Dukes host an ultra-competitive, eight-team tournament that features
several of the state's Top 25 teams plus Missouri's SLUH.
The hosts begin play in a group with Fenwick, Lyons and St Ignatius
while SLUH is joined by Loyola, Mundelein and New Trier. Group play continues
from Friday into Saturday morning before the championship round begins early on
Saturday afternoon. The visitors from Missouri beat Fenwick in overtime last
year to win the event.

Colin Derdeyn poured in 7 goals, Michael Niese notched 3 scores, and
Patrick Schuler scored 2 times as SLUH kicked off the weekend with
an 18-7 victory over Mundelein. Mike Ward tallied 3 scores and
Jeremy Westgate scored 2 goals in the loss.
Fenwick 16 York 3
DJ Perez totaled 5 goals and both Danny Farmer and Jack Mahoney
scored 2 times as Fenwick defeated York 16-3. Danny Stumpf netted 2
goals and Parker Hicks scored once for the hosts.
Loyola 12 Mundelein 4
Andrew Hodur scored 3 times and the trio of Jack Schermerhorn, John
Pasquesi, and Ragen Murphy each put in 2 goals as the Ramblers
defeated Mundelein 12-4. Mike Ward notched 3 scores in the loss for
the Mustangs.
SLUH 19 New Trier 7
Colin Derdeyn totaled 10 goals and Christoper Kreinkamp scored 2
goals as Missouri's top-ranked team beat New Trier 19-7. Alex Grant
put in 3 goals while Charlie Ryan, Henry Yavitt, Jackson Ingle and
Mason McQuet each added one score in the losing effort.
Lyons 14 York 6
Sam Szcepaniak notched 5 scores and George Lundgren connected on 4
shots to help the Lions get past the hosts 14-6. Alex Marlott and
Logan Frendreis each scored 2 times in the loss for the Dukes.
Fenwick 19 St Ignatius 5
Andrew Bertschy scored 6 times and Ryan Masi slotted home 5 goals as
the Friars beat St Ignatius 19-5 for their second win this week over
the Wolfpack. Danny Farmer and Jack Mahoney each chipped in with 2
scores for Fenwick. Enrique Leon and Shane Hughes both scored 2
times in the loss for SICP.
Loyola 9 New Trier 6
Jack Schermerhorn and Ragen Murphy both scored 3 goals to lead the
Ramblers to a 9-6 win over New Trier on Friday night. George Harris
and John Pasquesi each tallied one score in the win. Alex Grant put
in 2 goals while Chandler Tempest, Chris Keller, Michael Krueger,
and Will Kohr each chipped in with one goal apiece in the loss.
Lyons 17 St Ignatius 5
George Lundgren notched 6 scores and both Sam Szcepaniak and Tommy
Kaptur scored 3 times to lead the Lions to a 17-5 victory over St
Ignatius in the late game on Friday night. Anthony Berley and Mike
Zahorik each added 2 scores in the win. Shane Hughes tallied 3
scores and both Brendan Stelmach and Gunnar Glaab scored once in the
loss for the Wolfpack.
SLUH 16 Loyola 1
Colin Derdeyn and Mark Franz both scored 5 times to lead the Junior
Billikens to a 16-1 win over Loyola. John Pasquesi netted the lone
goal for the Ramblers in the loss.
New Trier 14 Mundelein 6
Alex Grant registered 3 scores and the trio of Chandler Tempest,
Chris Keller, and Will Kohr each added 2 goals in the Trevians' 14-6
win over Mundelein. Nick Olienik led the Mustangs with 3 scores in
the loss.
Fenwick 8 Lyons 6
Danny Farmer recorded 4 goals while both Andrew Bertschy and Ryan
Masi notched 2 scores as Fenwick overcame a late 5-4 deficit to beat
the Lions 8-6 to advance to the title game of the York Tournament.
George Lundgren scored 2 times, including a goal at the end of the
third period that gave LT a 5-4 lead. Mike Zahorik, Sam Szczepaniak,
Thomas Waters, and Tommy Kaptur each added one goal in the loss for
the Lions.
York 7 St Ignatius 6
Danny Stumpf scored 3 goals and Alex Marlott netted 2 scores as the
Dukes held off St Ignatius 7-6 in the final game of the preliminary
round on Saturday. Logan Frendreis and Tim Evely each added one goal
in the winning effort. Shane Hughes scored all 6 goals in the loss
for the Wolfpack.
Fenwick 8 SLUH 7
Ryan Masi scored 3 goals and Danny Farmer registered 2 scores as
Fenwick held off SLUH 8-7 in the title game of the York Tournament
on Saturday. Bailey Wendt, DJ Perez, and Mickey McGuire each
recorded one score in the win for the tournament champions. Eric
Castelton and Mark Franz each scored 2 times in the loss for the
Junior Billikens.
Lyons 8 Loyola 6
George Lundgren scored the game-winning goal and made a steal
leading to a late insurance goal for LT as the Lions fended off
Loyola 8-6 to claim third place at the York Tournament.
New Trier 14 York 8
Chandler Tempest registered 4 goals and both Michael Krueger and Sam
Yavitt scored 2 times to help the Trevians earn a 14-8 win over York
on Saturday in the event's fifth-place game.
Mundelein 10 St Ignatius 9 (OT)
James Philbrick scored on Mundelein's second possession in overtime
as the Mustangs outlasted Ignatius 10-9 in sudden death overtime on
Saturday afternoon in the seventh place game of the York Tourney.
