FEATURED EVENT

NILES WEST TOURNAMENT

The Wolves will try to repeat as tournament champions of their own event when they host an eight-team event that kicks off on Friday afternoon. Niles West plays in a group that contains Von Steuben, St Rita, and Waubonsie Valley; the other group pits DeLaSalle, Maine West, Metea Valley, and Stagg against one another. The championship round decides the fate of all eight teams and begins on Saturday afternoon.

 

OTHER KEY EVENTS

LAFAYETTE TOURNAMENT

Hinsdale South travels to Missouri to take on the hosts and CBC in two Friday night contests as part of the Lafayette Tournament.

ST IGNATIUS TOURNAMENT

The Wolfpack's college-style tournament gets underway on Friday with six contests between the eight attending teams. The hosts are joined by Buffalo Grove, H-F, Loyola, Marian, New Trier, Northside, and Waubonsie Valley beginning at 4:30pm in Chicago.

LWE TOURNAMENT

Lincoln-Way East's annual bracket-style tournament kicks off on Friday night with two pools being used to host games. The hosts are joined by Andrew, Lincoln-Way North, and Richards in their group, while LWC, R-B, and Lockport all head to Lincoln-Way West where they will take on the Phoenix in the other group. The opening-round winners will meet in the semifinal round before the night is over, with the winners playing for the title at East on Saturday afternoon. LWC won the event in 2013.

NILES WEST TOURNAMENT

Waubonsie Valley 14 St Rita 12

Cameron Steele and Bradin Krug combined to score 9 goals as the Warriors outlasted St Rita 14-12 on Friday night. Dan Sliazas and Eric Johnson also paired up to score 9 times in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

DLS 10 Stagg 5

Robert Rodriguez scored 3 times and Vinny Scalise tallied 2 scores as the Meteors beat Stagg 10-5. Omar Gomez, Andrew Behena, Angelo Espinoza, Diego Leanos, and Jeremy Siegel each added one score in the win for DLS.

 

DLS 15 Metea Valley 5

Robert Rodriguez netted 5 goals and Omar Gomez notched 3 scores as DLS beat Metea Valley 15-5 in the late game on Friday night. Danny Pedro, Diego Leanos, and Dominic Quigley each added 2 scores in the Meteors' victory.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Morgan Park 17 Lindblom 10

Christian Cooper scored 7 times and Leo Wilson made 8 saves as the Mustangs defeated Lindblom 17-10 on Friday night. Kerry Jones and Mike Crawley also notched 3 scores apiece in the winning effort.

LWE TOURNAMENT

Lincoln-Way East 19 R-B 4

Aimee Schaaf recorded 5 goals and Haley McCabe notched 4 scores to lead LWE to a 19-4 win over R-B on Friday evening. Lauren Vandervelde also scored 2 times while several other Griffins got in on the scoring act as the hosts advanced to the semifinals with the win.

 

Andrew 12 Lincoln-Way West 5

Megan Hofer scored 6 goals, Genny McCarthy put in 3 scores, and Anna Tamulonis blocked 14 shots as the T-Bolts knocked off the Warriors 12-5 to advance to the semifinals of the LWE Tournament. Alison Sifuentes, Caily Freil, and Courtney Carter each added one score in the win for the victors.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 15 Richards 3

Cailey Davern totaled 5 goals, Liz Klock put in 3 scores, and Michelle Dundek forced 7 turnovers to help the Knights beat Richards 15-3 as they advance to the semifinal round of the LWE Tournament. Delaney Shepard also scored 2 goals and Sabrina Miglorini made 8 saves in the win for Central.

 

Lincoln-Way East 7 Andrew 6

Aimee Schaaf scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in the fourth quarter to help the Griffins come-from-behind to beat Andrew 7-6 to advance to the title game of their own tournament. The T-Bolts led for most of the game before Schaaf tied the game at 5-5 early in the final period. Caily Freil put the visitors back ahead, but Schaaf scored the games final two goals to lift her team to the win. Schaaf put in 3 total goals while both Haley McCabe and Lauren Vandervelde each scored 2 times in the winning effort. Megan Hofer scored 4 goals, Freil and Genny McCarthy each scored once, and Anna Tamulonis blocked 12 shots in the loss for the T-Bolts.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 7 Lincoln-Way North 4

Delaney Shepard and Kristi Howe both scored 3 goals and Sabrina Miglorini totaled 16 saves as Central defeated LWN 7-4 to move on to the title game of the LWE Tournament. Liz Klock also scored once and totaled 3 assists and 3 steals in the win, while Michelle Dundek quite possibly forced more than a dozen turnovers for the victors.

 

 

ST IGNATIUS TOURNAMENT

St Ignatius 14 Loyola 7

Tammy Stelnicki recorded 5 goals and Jenny Stelnicki made 17 saves to lead the Wolfpack past Loyola 14-7 on Friday night. Marta Considine scored 5 times and Colleen Ahern stopped 5 shots in the loss for the Ramblers.

 

New Trier 13 Homewood-Flossmoor 0

Lauren Barrett and Stephanie Jodloman each scored 3 goals and Keelin Frank saved 5 shots and earned a shutout as the Trevians defeated the Vikings 13-0. Jacqueline Glattard, Maria Breen, and Shannon Kent all scored 2 goals and Kaleigh Dolan netted one score in the win for New Trier.
