TOURNAMENT REPORT
Opening Round Preview
The annual Lincoln-Way Tournament gets underway on Thursday night in two
locations (LWE & LWN) with eight teams playing one opening round game each
followed by separate consolation and semifinal round games. Thursday night's
results will setup Saturday's championship round which will be played
exclusively at Lincoln-Way East. Lincoln-Way Central beat the hosts 7-5 in last
year's title game, but the wide-open field that also includes Andrew, Lockport,
LWE, LWN, LWW, R-B and Richards will all have their sights set on winning the
2016 edition of the event.
Championship Round Preview
The championship round of the Lincoln-Way Tournament gets started at
10:00am in Mokena with eight teams playing one last game to determine
their placing at the annual event. Lockport and Richards will both seek
their first win of the event in the day's opening game at 10:00am.
Andrew and R-B both seek their second win and a fifth-place finish at
11:00am. Lincoln-Way Central and Lincoln-Way West will look to bounce
back from semifinal round losses on Thursday night in the third-place
game, while the hosts and Lincoln-Way North will play for the title at
1:00pm.

Opening Round Game Recaps
Lincoln-Way Central 14 Richards 4
Cailey Davern and Kim Bernhard each scored 4 goals while Erin Kay made 8
saves in the Knights' 14-4 win over Richards. Erin Muellerschoen netted
2 goals and Sam Schletz scored once for the victors.
Lincoln-Way North 18 Riverside-Brookfield 1
Cassidy Degraff totaled 6 goals and 4 assists while the trio of Caitlin
Nelson, Jess Larson and Julia Porco each netted 2 scores as the Phoenix
beat the Bulldogs 18-1 on Thursday. Degraff also led the defensive
effort with 8 steals as North advanced to the event's semifinal round.
Lincoln-Way East 9 Andrew 1
Claire Connors did not allow a goal in three periods of play as the
Griffins advanced to the semifinal round of their own event after
beating Andrew 9-1.
Andrew 11 Lockport 10
Cailey Pietrzyk notched 4 scores, both Alexys Knight and Lauren Herald
scored 2 times and Olivia Kasper made 5 saves as the T-Bolts edged
Lockport 11-10 on Thursday. Bailey Murphy, Jessica Gomez and Sarah
Rodgers each added one goal in the win for Andrew.
Lincoln-Way North 16 Lincoln-Way Central 9
Cassidy Degraff scored 6 goals, Julia Porco scored 4 times and Jess
Larson netted 3 goals to help the Phoenix earn a 16-9 win over LWC.
Paige Ruffner, Reis Parkinson and Sarah Jackson each added one goal in
the win for North. Cailey Davern scored 3 goals, both Erin Muellerschoen
and Maddie Clark put in 2 scores and Kimmie Bernhard and Nikki Howe each
tallied one goal in the loss for the Knights.
Championship Round Game Recaps
Lockport 13 Richards 1 (7th place)
The Porters built up an 11-0 lead in order to walk away with a 13-1
victory over Richards in the seventh place game of the LWE Tournament.
Kennedy Ruther and Lauren Grycko combined to scored 8 goals and Mariah
Dicksen made 16 saves in the win. Mikaela Milligan led the Porters'
defensively with 7 steals while both Arlene Coleman and Kirsten
Breitbarth chipped in with goals for the winners.
Riverside-Brookfield 14 Andrew 4 (5th place)
The Bulldogs ended the first half with a 6-2 lead over Andrew in the
event's fifth-place game and pulled away in the second half to earn a
14-4 victory over the T-Bolts.
Lincoln-Way Central 15 Lincoln-Way West 6 (3rd place)
Cailey Davern scored 7 times and Kimmie Bernhard scored 4 goals as the
Knights upended LWW 15-6 to claim third place at the LWE Tourney. Erin
Muellerschoen and Sam Schletz both scored 2 goals while Nikki Howe
scored once in the victory.
Lincoln-Way North 18 Lincoln-Way East 13 (1st place)
Cassidy Degraff totaled 10 goals to help lead the Phoenix to an 18-13
championship game win over LWE. Julia Porco recorded 4 goals, Sarah
Jackson scored 2 times, Reis Parkinson notched one tally and Jess Larson
scored the game's opening goal to help North secure the victory. Nicole
McCabe led the Griffins with 6 goals, Abby Olivieri and Julia Esparza
both scored 2 goals and the trio of Keara Flaherty, Teresa DiGiovanni
and Mia DeTella each scored once in the loss.
