Preview
The Saxons' annual tournament is a two-day, eight-team, sixteen-game event that features teams that range from Missouri (Lafayette) to Chicago (St Rita, Whitney Young) to just about everywhere else in between (LWW, McHenry, St Rita, Wheeling, York).

Schaumburg 12 York 10

James Birriel and Tyler Gustafson both registered 4 goals and Edin Latic made 8 saves as the Saxons got past York 12-10 in the tournament opener at Schaumburg. Frank Kovar added 2 scores in the win for the hosts. Logan Frendreis and Tim Evely each tallied 3 scores while Ben Howlett and Danny Stumpf both put in 2 goals in the loss for the Dukes.

 

McHenry 7 Lafayette 7

Kevin Braun scored 3 goals to help the Warriors hold on for a 7-7 draw with Lafayette on Friday. Garrett Floden, Gavin Dunn, Jackson Smith, and Rebecca Dabrowski each added one score for McHenry. Rastko Stojsin led the Lancers with 2 scores in the draw.
 

St Rita 16 Lincoln-Way West 13

Dan Sliazis and Matt Lopez both recorded 4 goals and Eric Johnson tallied 3 scores in the Mustangs' 16-13 win over LWW. Lorenzo Henrichs and Kevin Cronin each scored 2 times and Joey Qualter added one goal in the winning effort. Jake Carlson poured in 10 goals while Devin Janosek and Pat Dunne each scored once in the loss for the Warriors.

 

Whitney Young 14 Wheeling 8

Josh Escasa totaled 5 goals to lead the Dolphins to a 14-8 victory over Wheeling. Nate Reiff tallied 6 goals in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

Schaumburg 12 Whitney Young 8

Tyler Gustafson scored 5 goals and James Birriel put in 4 goals in the Saxons' 12-8 win over Young. Frank Kovar also scored 2 times and Edin Latic made 8 saves in the victory. Duncan McDonald led the Dolphins with 4 scores in the loss.

 

Lafayette 13 Lincoln-Way West 8

Rastko Stojsin totaled 4 goals to lead the Lancers to a 13-8 victory over Lincoln-Way West. Kyle Karpluk and Jake Carlson each tallied 3 scores in the loss for the Warriors.

 

St Rita 12 McHenry 7

Eric Johnson scored 6 times and Lorenzo Henrichs put in 3 goals as the Mustangs defeated McHenry 12-7. Jackson Smith and Kevin Braun both put in 2 scores in the loss for the Warriors.

 

Schaumburg 18 Wheeling 8

Christian Zielinski, James Birriel, Nicholas Peterson, and Tyler Gustafson each recorded 3 goal to help the Saxons earn an 18-8 win over Wheeling. Edin Latic also made 10 stops for the winners. Nate Reiff put in 7 goals in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

Lafayette 9 St Rita 7

Rastko Stojsin scored 5 goals to help Lafayette advance to the event's title game after a 9-7 win over St Rita. Eric Johnson registered 3 scores and Joey Qualter netted 2 scores in the losing effort.

 

Whitney Young 12 York 8

Duncan McDonald recorded 5 goals and Josh Escasa added 3 scores in the Dolphins' 12-8 win over York. Danny Stumpf poured in 7 goals in the loss for the Dukes.

 

McHenry 17 Lincoln-Way West 9

Garrett Floden scored 7 times and Kevin Braun notched 6 scores as the Warriors ended the preliminary round with a 17-9 win over LWW. Teddy Pitzen also scored 3 times in the win. Jake Carlson put in 3 goals in the loss for the Warriors.

 

Lincoln-Way West 17 Wheeling 6

Jake Carlson scored 7 goals to lead the Warriors to a 17-6 win over Wheeling in the seventh-place game of the Schaumburg Tournament. Nate Reiff led the Wildcats with 5 scores in the loss.

 

McHenry 8 York 6

Garrett Floden scored the game-winning goal in the fourth quarter to help lift the Warriors over York in the fifth-place game at Schaumburg on Saturday. Kevin Braun registered 3 goals and both Jackson Smith and Floden netted 2 goals in the win. Logan Frendreis led the Dukes with 3 scores in the losing effort.

 

St Rita 13 Whitney Young 9

Eric Johnson slotted home 6 shots and Matt Lopez contributed 5 goals as the Mustangs wrapped up third place with a 13-9 win over Whitney Young. Dan Rusca totaled 5 goals and Duncan McDonald scored 2 goals in the loss for the Dolphins.

 

Schaumburg 9 Lafayette 8 (2 OT)

Jack Pyde recorded 3 goals and both Christian Zielinski and Tyler Gustafson each netted 2 goals as the Saxons won their own invitational in sudden-death overtime, beating Lafayette 9-8 on Saturday evening. Rastko Stojsin tallied 3 scores in the loss for the visitors.
