TOURNAMENT REPORT
Preview
Mundelein's third annual
tournament casts a wide variety of teams from across the Chicagoland-area in
an eight-team, sixteen-game event that begins on Friday afternoon. The hosts
belong to a group with New Trier, Hoffman, and Lindbergh; the second group
consists of Hinsdale Central, Libertyville, Lockport and Niles West. The event
culminates with a championship round beginning at 2:30pm on Saturday.

Trevians rolled past Hoffman 18-6.
Lockport 16 Hinsdale Central 2
Eric Johnson, Eric Krawcyzk, and Zach Elias each scored 4 goals and
Pat Melaniphy denied 9 shots as the Porters defeated Hinsdale
Central 16-2. Steven Howell added 2 goals while Matt Cavanaugh and
Tommy Boland both put in one score in the victory.
Lockport 13 Libertyville 2
Eric Johnson recorded 4 goals, Joey Tomczuk netted 3 scores, and Pat
Melaniphy made 13 saves as the Porters defeated Libertyville 13-2 on
Saturday. Zach Elias notched 2 scores and both Eric Krawczyk and
Matt Cavanaugh tallied one score in the winning effort.
Lockport 9 Niles West 8
Joey Tomczuk scored the eventual game-winning goal in the final
minute and totaled 3 scores altogether as the Porters fended off
Niles West 9-8 to advance to the event's title game. Eric Johnson
added 2 goals and Pat Melaniphy made 7 saves in the narrow win.
New Trier 10 Niles West 3
Chris Keller totaled 4 scores and Michael Krueger notched 2 scores
to help lead the Trevians past Niles West 10-3 in the third-place
game of the Mundelein Tournament.
Lockport 6 Lindbergh 5
Eric Johnson scored 5 goals and Pat Melaniphy made 14 saves as
Lockport beat Lindbergh 6-5 to win the Mundelein Tournament. Steven
Howell also scored once in the win.
