MATCH OF THE DAY

STC North 15 Waubonsie Valley 2

Chris Stanek poured in 6 goals and Garrett Allamian stopped 10 shots to help lead the North Stars past Waubonsie Valley 15-2. Nathan Bawolek, Ryan Helfers, and Sam Lilly each added 2 goals and combined to make 13 steals to lead a solid defensive effort. Kay Andressen scored both goals for the Warriors and Cedrick Chan stopped 10 shots in the losing effort.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Glenbrook South 19 Maine West 10

Peter Dales tallied 6 goals, Paul Salay netted 5 goals, and Tommy Hagerty added 3 scores as the Titans started their season with a 19-10 win over Maine West. Brendan Atwood put in 3 goals while Tony Connor  and Adam Smolik-Valles both scored 2 goals in the loss for the Warriors.

 

Lane 14 Northside 6

Max Boettcher scored 5 goals and Israel Valle netted 4 goals as Lane defeated Northside 14-6.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 13 St Rita 8

Cody Torres scored 5 goals and Jake Burke totaled 9 saves and 3 steals as the Knights earned a 13-8 win over St Rita on Tuesday. Pat Burke contributed 3 goals and 4 assists, Matt Klock scored 3 times, and the pair combined to total 9 steals to lead the defensive effort.

 

Lockport 17 Metea Valley 10

Zach Elias totaled 7 goals and 4 assists and Steve Howell (2 goals) dished out 9 assists as the Porters got past Metea Valley 17-10. Eric Johnson and Joey Tomczuk also scored 2 goals apiece in the win.

 

Maine South 9 Maine East 6

Conor Brosnan, Dominic Pilolla, Ernesto Mato, and Phil Wachowski each registered 2 goals while Marko Bogicevic added one score in the Hawks' 9-6 win over the Blue Demons. Mateo Kozomara scored 5 times and Tyler Vonderheide added one score in the losing effort.

 

Morgan Park 9 Chicago Ag 7 (OT)

Christian Cooper recorded 5 goals to help lift the Mustangs over Chicago Ag 9-7 in an overtime thriller on Tuesday night.

 

Mundelein 19 Wheeling 3

Mike Ward scored 5 goals and the trio of Jason White, Matt Schaedel, and Nick Oleinik each tallied 3 goals in Mundelein's 19-3 win over Wheeling. Oleinik led the defense with 7 steals while Jeremiah Lam stopped 5 shots and allowed just 3 goals in the win.

 

Neuqua Valley 16 Lincoln-Way East 3

Simon Shatinsky registered 5 goals and Joey Dalesandro netted 3 goals as the Wildcats topped LWE 16-3. Ian Ivkovich, Lucas Becker, and Troy Salafatinos each added 2 goals while Dalesandro led the defense with a whopping 15 steals. Brett Whaley and Scott DePuy also scored once for the hosts.

 

Sandburg 15 Bremen 5

Mitch Zieler recorded 5 goals and Majd Ibrahim notched 4 scores to lead the Eagles to a season-opening 15-5 victory over Bremen.

Stevenson 20 Loyola 6

Melissa Gartenberg scored 5 goals, Allison Travetto tallied 4 scores, and Lauren Burns made 13 saves as Stevenson knocked off Loyola 20-6. Annika Hotchkiss added 3 goals while the trio of Alex Adams, Claire Haas and Joanie Newland each put in 2 goals in the win. Autumn Hoang and Erin Kempers rounded out the scoring for the hosts with one goal apiece. Megan Murtagh tallied 3 scores, Claire Voss scored 2 times, and Meg Dixon blocked 8 shots in the loss for the Ramblers.

Conant 9 Schaumburg 5

Carmen Rosas scored 5 goals and Maddy Demaret totaled 15 saves and 4 steals as Conant got past the Saxons 9-5 for their second straight MSL West victory. Paulina Chowaniec added 2 goals, Keri Keppler and Sarah Gregory each scored once, and Barbra Smigla led the defense with 4 steals. Catherine Lynch scored 2 goals and the trio of Brianna Vasquez, Britney Vasquez, and Rebecca Kasner each scored once in the loss for Schaumburg.

 

Fremd 22 Hoffman 1

Tami Carlson scored 7 goals and Emily Kini netted 4 scores in the Vikings' 22-1 win over Hoffman. Emma Hoffman and Paulina Pappas each added 3 goals and Karolina Urban tallied 2 goals in the victory. Caitlin Byrd and Emma Jeronimus teamed up to make 10 saves and allowed one goal in the win. Jenny Fermaintt scored once and Allie Ouimet made 9 saves in the loss for the Hawks.

 

Lane 9 Northside 3

The Indians claimed their first CPS divisional win by beating Northside 9-3 on Tuesday. Statistics for the victors are unavailable. Meanwhile, Jessica Skipper scored 2 goals and Marti Hale notched one score in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Lyons 10 New Trier 5

Caroline Walsh and Julia Cohen each scored 3 goals and the goaltending tandem of Jessie Wittenberg and Maddie Janik combined to make 8 saves in the Lions' 10-5 win over New Trier. Emma Hirt and Kaysie Stuba both notched 2 goals while Cohen and Walsh combined to dish out 7 assists in the win.

 

Maine South 7 Maine East 4

Keanan Bender recorded 4 goals and Kalin Bender blocked 12 shots to help the Hawks outlast Maine East 7-4 on Tuesday.

 

Maine West 15 Glenbrook South 12

Holly Wasicak and Kristen Burger each recorded 6 goals to lead the Warriors past the Titans 15-12. Lilly Jensen stopped 12 shots, Veronica Dunn added 2 goals, and Emily Morrison scored a goal and totaled 7 assists and 5 steals. Nicole Lopatinsky and Rachel Spector each netted 5 goals in the losing effort.

 

Meadows 7 Elk Grove 4

Erin Pletch poured in 5 goals and Betsy Zanocco stopped 12 shots as the Mustangs claimed a 7-4 victory over Elk Grove in an MSL West contest. Jessie Ligenza and Sara Luedloff each added one score in the win for Meadows.

 

Oak Park 7 Homewood-Flossmoor 1

Jilly Cronin recorded 4 goals and Jordin Hale stopped 11 shots in the Huskies' 7-1 win over the Vikings. Kathleen Coogan, Kevan Casson, and Mia Andreoli each added one goal in the victory for OPRF. Amber Barney recorded the long goal in the loss for H-F.

 

Richards 8 Hinsdale South 3

Natalie Fadden scored 3 times, Sarah Coffman totaled 2 goals and 10 steals, and Eunice Oladesa blocked 7 shots as Richards fended off Hinsdale South 8-3. Jean Kiwiet scored 2 goals in the loss for the Hornets.

 

STC North 6 Waubonsie Valley 3

Katie Quinn tallied 4 goals and Katie Steele produced 8 steals for the North Stars in a 6-3 triumph over Waubonsie Valley on Tuesday. Brittany Veto and Katie Difiglio each added a goal while Difiglio made 6 steals and dished out a pair of key assists for North.

 

Wheeling 9 Buffalo Grove 6

Theresa Godlewski tallied 6 goals and Argelia Diaz netted 3 scores to lead the Wildcats past the Bison 9-6. Olivia Pontarelli scored 2 times in the loss for BG.
