MATCH OF THE DAY

Stevenson 8 Loyola 7

Mitchell Sokolsky recorded the game-winning goal after a strong second half propelled the Patriots to an 8-7 home win over Loyola on Tuesday. Patriots' goaltender Robbie O'Brien (16 saves) also made a crucial block in the final minute and Stevenson was able to run out the clock on a one-goal victory. Sokolsky totaled 4 goals and Remy Dalloul and Taylor Baretz each scored 2 times in the win for the hosts. Ben Pasquesi and Cameron Shewchuck each scored 3 goals in the loss, while Jack Considine and Jack Nickele both added one goal apiece for the Ramblers.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Buffalo Grove 6 Elk Grove 5

Anisse Chakar registered 4 goals and both KC Lotzer and Danny Boukas scored once as the Bison edged Elk Grove 6-5 on Tuesday.

 

Conant 12 Barrington 5

Kyle Bradberry scored 3 times, Jon Burke added 2 goals, and Aly Ahmed recorded 10 saves to help lead Conant past Barrington 12-5 on Tuesday night. Chase Lesniak put in 3 scores in the loss for the Broncos.

 

Glenbrook South 14 Maine West 3

Bob Meyer poured in 5 goals and Matt Cubelic totaled 5 saves and 4 steals in the Titans' 14-3 victory over Maine West on Tuesday night.

 

Lake View 12 Mather 9

Greg Johnson scored 9 goals and Danny Warmowski totaled 2 goals, 13 saves, and 4 steals as Lake View beat Mather 12-9 to remain perfect in 2013. Michael Velez also chipped in with a goal in the victory for the Wildcats.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 12 St Rita 9

Alex McCormick scored 4 times and the trio of Alex Smith, Kyle Forsythe, and Steve Grill each scored 2 goals as the Knights knocked off St Rita 12-9. Mike Molchin also made 7 saves in the win for LWC.

 

Lockport 16 Metea Valley 9

Dan Oldendorf tallied 7 scores and David Presz and Jake Elias both scored 3 times as Lockport started their season with a 16-9 win over Metea Valley.

 

Maine South 12 Maine East 3

Makai DeNeve-Arnam totaled 3 scores to lead the Hawks to a 12-3 win over Maine East. Kyle Christie, Phil Wachowski, and Ryan Pattullo each netted 2 scores in the win for Maine South. Mike Babula led the Blue Demons with 3 scores in the loss.

 

New Trier 19 Glenbrook North 11

Jack Vorwald, Maros Petro, and Sam Falter each scored 2 goals to help the Trevians earn a 19-11 victory over Glenbrook North.

 

Niles West 21 Evanston 17

Steven Renko and Tom Tabatt each scored 6 times as Niles West held off Evanston 21-17. Renko also totaled 5 steals and goalie Nick Opfer blocked 12 shots in the Wolves' win. Kameron Simmons-Gill led the Wildkits with 6 goals in the losing effort.

 

Palatine 9 Fremd 5

Christian Kalfas and Kristian Kalev each tallied 3 scores and Peter Blackham made 23 saves as Palatine downed Fremd 9-5 in an MSL West contest on Tuesday. Alex Brons also scored 2 times in the win for the Pirates. JP French scored 2 goals in the losing effort for the Vikings.

 

Sandburg 14 Bremen 5

Kevin Tunney scored 6 times and Zach Roper added 2 goals in Sandburg's 14-5 win over Bremen. Quinn Johnson scored all 5 goals in the loss for the Silver Snakes.

 

Schaumburg 11 Hoffman 4

James Birriel scored 7 goals and LJ Peterson added 2 scores as Schaumburg knocked off Hoffman 11-4.

 

STC North 10 Waubonsie Valley 9

John Pretet scored the game-winning goal midway through the fourth quarter and STC North goalie Collin Bawolek made three key saves down the stretch to help lift the North Stars over Waubonsie Valley 10-9. Pretet scored 4 goals and Bawolek stopped 16 shots in front of a defense that amassed 15 steals. Justin Simmonds also scored 3 times and Ryan Hamilton scored 2 key goals during a 5-1 run during the third quarter for the North Stars.

 

Whitney Young 12 Von Steuben 7

Juan Reyes scored 4 goals, Seth Hughes notched 3 scores, and both Hector Mendez and Tony Romo put in 2 goals in the Dolphins' 12-7 win over Von Steuben. Matt Gonzales also blocked 11 shots in the victory.

Stevenson 10 Loyola 7

The Patriots bounced back from an early 3-2 deficit and outscored the Ramblers 2-0 in the fourth quarter to earn a 10-7 home victory on Tuesday night. Ashley Oliver and Melissa Gartenberg recorded 3 goals each and Laura Larsen added 2 scores in the win for Stevenson. Becky Callen also blocked 20 shots and Alex Kanaris totaled 3 assists and 4 steals in the victory. Evan Swenson scored 3 goals and both Katie Lynch and Marta Considine each tallied 2 scores in the loss for the visitors. Meredith O'Brien also blocked 10 shots in the losing effort for Loyola.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Andrew 7 Whitney Young 5 (OT)

Megan Hofer scored 4 goals and helped spur a 3-0 rally in the final period that sent the game to overtime, then scored the eventual game-winner in the extra session to give the T-Bolts a 7-5 victory over Whitney Young. Annamarie Lettiere, Eleanor Peach, and Rachel Fus also scored key goals in the win, while Anna Tamulonis recorded 9 saves in the win. Jessie Cronin scored 4 goals, Audrey Anderson added one score, and goalie Nya Wilkins stopped 15 shots in the losing effort for the Dolphins.

 

Barrington 17 Conant 5

Sam Gavars recorded 6 goals and Kelly Meckert notched 4 scores as Barrington beat Conant 17-5. Lisa Danhauer added 3 scores and Kayla Widdowsen put in 2 goals in the win for the Fillies. Carmen Rosas led the Cougars' offense with 4 goals and Maddy Dameret made 12 saves in the loss for the hosts.

 

Fremd 12 Palatine 8

Mandy Borre scored 4 times and Jena Teragawachi netted 3 scores as Fremd knocked off Palatine 12-8. Samantha Barry also scored 2 goals in the win for the Vikings. Rachel Chumbook totaled 6 goals and 5 steals while Kim Butler blocked 15 shots in the loss for the Pirates.

 

Glenbrook South 13 Maine West 8

GBS responded to an early deficit to earn a 13-8 win over Maine West in a CSL contest on Tuesday. Holly Wasicak netted 3 goals and Carly Romano scored 2 times in the loss for the Warriors.

 

Hersey 11 Meadows 1

Kate Lindholm tallied 5 goals in the Huskies' 11-1 triumph over Meadows.

 

Highland Park 16 Deerfield 10

Maddie Gelberg scored 9 goals to lead Highland Park to a 16-10 victory over their former co-op partners Deerfield on Tuesday. Emma Gelberg also scored 2 times in the victory for the Giants. Kaitlyn Gilbert and Sophie Lieb both recorded 3 goals and Abigail Zemach notched 2 scores in the losing effort.

 

Hinsdale Central 11 Neuqua Valley 5

Alden Leader and the Hinsdale Central defense helped limit Neuqua Valley to just five goals as the Red Devils improved to 5-1 with an 11-5 victory over Neuqua Valley. Deanna Hoff and Kaitlyn Gorski each scored 2 times in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

Lake View 18 Mather 12

Baylee Cabrera scored 8 goals, Halah Hamid added 5 scores, and Jazzmine Easterling netted 4 goals in Lake View's 18-12 triumph over Mather on Tuesday. Jocelyn Gonzalez and Michelle Corrales combined to make 13 steals on the defensive end for the Wildcats in the winning effort.

 

Lyons 11 Oak Park 6

Caroline Walsh scored 3 goals and Blair Hopwood, Carly Strass, Julia Cohen, and Molly McDonnell each added 2 scores in the Lions' 11-6 victory over conference rival Oak Park. Katie Appell registered 4 goals and Jordin Hale and Zoe Erickson combined to save 10 shots and force 7 turnovers.

 

Maine South 13 Maine East 12

Iza Matczuk scored 6 goals to help Maine South eek out a 13-12 victory over Maine East in a tough CSL contest on Tuesday.

 

Naperville North 13 Marian 1

Katie Horn registered 5 goals and Taylor Bridgman put in 3 scores in Naperville North's 13-1 triumph over Marian. Caitlyn Holzer and Taylor Stoner each tallied 2 scores and goalie Kate MacDuff stopped 11 shots and allowed just one goal in the Huskies' win. Emily Amadio scored the lone goal for the Spartans.

 

New Trier 13 Glenbrook North 3

Alexana Astor scored 3 times and both Lindsey Siegel and Shannon Kent notched 2 scores in New Trier's 13-3 triumph over GBN. Vladi Mulitinovich scored 3 goals in the losing effort for the Spartans.

 

Sandburg 7 Bremen 4

Brittany Kamper, Cara Hays, and Sarah Dolitsky each scored 2 goals as Sandburg went on the road and beat Bremen 7-4 in nonconference action. Hannah Schultz put in 2 scores in the loss for the Red Jaguars.

 

Schaumburg 15 Hoffman 6

Ashley Johnson totaled 5 goals and 8 steals and both Claire Lynch and Krystal Vezzetti added 3 goals in Schaumburg's 15-6 victory over Hoffman. Jessica Sumsky also blocked 15 shots in the Saxons' win.

 

STC North 12 Waubonsie Valley 2

Sarah Stern totaled 4 goals and 5 steals and Nicole Guyett added 2 scores as the North Stars defeated Waubonsie Valley 12-2. Hannah Horsfall also blocked 12 shots in the win for STC North.

 

Wheeling 9 Prospect 8

Kat Dobrowski recorded 5 goals and Rachel Ropski added 2 scores as Wheeling held off Prospect 9-8 in a MSL East clash on Tuesday. Shannon Richards and Theresa Godlewski each netted one goal in the winning effort for the Wildcats. Kallie Shields registered 4 goals and Mary Schiavone scored 2 times in the narrow loss for the Knights. Lauren Broz also blocked 10 shots in the losing effort for Prospect.
