BOYS

Hoffman Tournament

Buffalo Grove 12 Schaumburg 10

Ian Rodriguez recorded 7 goals and Matt O'Rouke added 3 scores as Buffalo Grove beat Schaumburg 12-10 in the title game of the Hoffman Tournament on Saturday. The Bison finished the weekend with a 4-1 mark, losing only to Schaumburg in the previous round. The Saxons' Randy Carr led the way with 6 goals in a losing effort.

 

Palatine Tournament

Curie 11 Palatine 4

Eduardo Chavez and Ramiro Almarez both scored 4 goals to lead Curie to an 11-4 win over Palatine. Kamil Mulawa recorded a goal and 4 steals in the loss for the Pirates.

 

McHenry 7 Mundelein 5

Dylan Clohessy and Kyle Braun both scored 2 goals as McHenry pulled out to an early lead and staved off a late charge from the Mustangs to earn a 7-5 victory on Saturday morning. Mundelein cut the lead to 6-5 late in the game before the Warriors added a late goal and held the Mustangs the rest of the game. Five players tallied one goal apiece for the Mustangs.

 

St Ignatius 12 Curie 10

Mark Alvarado scored 8 goals and Jaime Juarez added 3 scores as St Ignatius led from start to finish in a 12-10 win over Curie in the first place bracket of the Palatine Tournament on Saturday. Eduardo Chavez scored 4 times and Ramiro Almarez added 2 scores in the loss for the Condors.

 

Palatine 11 McHenry 10

The host Pirates won a back-and-forth encounter with McHenry 11-10 in which Kamil Mulawa drew and converted a penalty shot in the final minute of regulation to give Palatine the win. The Pirates trailed 9-7 late in the game but went on a 3-0 run to take a 10-9 lead late in the game. McHenry tied the score at 10-10 before Mulawa's heroics finished the game. Justin Behrens led the Pirates with 5 goals, Mulawa added 4 scores, and goalie Dan Sommerfield made 14 saves in the win. Dylan Clohessy scored 5 times and Andrew Hertel added 2 scores in the loss for the Warriors.

 

Mundelein 9 Loyola 8

Will Davidson scored 4 goals and Pat Falconer added 3 scores as Mundelein's 3-0 run in the game's final four minutes helped them come-from-behind to beat Loyola 9-8 on Saturday. The Mustangs trailed 5-3 at halftime and 8-6 early in the fourth quarter before grabbing the late momentum to earn the win. Jordan Hodur scored 4 goals and Charlie Dowdle added 2 scores in the loss for the Ramblers.

 

St Ignatius 12 H-F 9

Jaime Juarez and Kevin Barth both recorded 4 goals as St Ignatius claimed the Palatine Tournament title with a 12-9 victory over Homewood-Flossmoor on Saturday afternoon. Mark Alvarado added 3 goals and Tom Maloney scored once in the win for the Wolfpack. Shay Banton scored 4 goals, Kevin Kuchta scored 3 times, and both Caleb Peterson and Luke Dobben scored one time in the loss for the Vikings.

 

Latin 10 McHenry 7

Latin's 4-1 run in the second quarter proved to be the difference in their 10-7 victory over McHenry on Saturday. Evan Dent and James Ruggiero each scored 3 times and Jacob Himmel added 2 goals in the win for the Romans. Dylan Clohessy led the Warriors with 3 goals in the loss.

 

Mundelein 10 New Trier 7

Frank Lukacs scored 3 goals and AJ Caughey and Will Davidson scored 2 goals apiece as Mundelein led from start to finish to beat New Trier 10-7. Jordan Palmer led the Trevians with 3 scores in the loss.

 

Curie 11 H-F

Shay Banton scored at the end of regulation after H-F called a timeout with three seconds left and help the Vikings earn an 11-11 draw with Curie in the second place game of the Palatine Tournament. In an evenly matched encounter, Eduardo Chavez scored 5 goals for the Condors, who trailed 4-2 at halftime before evening things up at 7-7 at the end of the third period. Curie pulled ahead in the late stages before Banton's heroics led to the tie.

 

Palatine 12 Latin 9

The hosts jumped out to a 5-1 lead during the second quarter and never looked back to earn a 12-9 win over Latin to earn a fourth place finish at their own tournament. Justin Behrens and Kamil Mulawa both scored 3 goals and Dan Sommerfield totaled 9 saves and 6 steals in the Palatine win. Jacob Himmel tallied 6 scores and James Ruggiero scores 2 times in the loss for the Romans.

 

New Trier 12 Loyola 8

Jordan Palmer scored 6 goals to help New Trier earn their first win of the Palatine Tournament, a 12-8 decision over Loyola. Charlie Dowdle recorded 5 goals in the loss for the Ramblers.

 

Stagg Tournament

St Rita 19 R-B 11

Mike Hernandez scored 5 goals as St Rita knocked off R-B 19-11 on Saturday morning at the Stagg Tournament. Kyle Miller scored 6 times in the loss for the Bulldogs.

 

Bradley 13 Morton 9

Suraj Bafish totaled 5 goals as Bradley earned a 13-9 victory over Morton. Eddy Puskaric scored 4 times in the loss for Morton.

 

Young 16 Hinsdale Central 5

Edgar Lopez and Seth Hughes both registered 5 goals to lead Young to a 16-5 win over Hinsdale Central.

 

STC North 22 R-B 5

Kyle Passini and Michael Nield each tallied 5 scores for the North Stars in a 22-5 win over R-B. Andrew Preusse added 3 goals and Eli Broxham totaled 11 saves and 4 assists in the victory. The win moves STC North into the third place game of the event, while R-B will play for seventh place later in the afternoon.

 

Stagg 9 St Rita 5

The Chargers advanced to the title game of their own tournament following a 9-5 win over St Rita on Saturday. Drew Stoffel led the way for Stagg with 3 goals in the win.

 

Hinsdale Central 17 Morton 2

Strati Kolouris scored 6 goals to help Hinsdale Central advance to the third place game of the Stagg Tournament in a 17-2 win over fellow West Suburban Conference member Morton. The Red Devils take on STC North later in the evening.

 

Young 11 Bradley 3

The Dolphins punched their ticket to the Stagg Tournament title game with an 11-3 win over Bradley on Saturday. Marc Wilcoxen and Seth Hughes both contributed 3 goals in the win for Young.

 

Morton 21 R-B 7

Peter Holanda registered 7 goals for Morton as they claimed a seventh place finish at the Stagg Tournament with a 21-7 victory over R-B. Kyle Miller scored 4 times in the loss for the Bulldogs.

 

St Rita 9 Bradley 8

Efrain Hernandez recorded 3 goals to lead St Rita to a 9-8 win over Bradley in the fifth place game of the Stagg Tournament. Suraj Bafish scored 3 goals in the loss for the Boilermakers.

 

STC North 14 Hinsdale Central 10

Andrew Preusse and Justin Jacobson both scored 4 times and Kyle Passini added 3 scores as St Charles North topped Hinsdale Central in the third place game of the Stagg Tournament. Eli Broxham made 5 saves in the final period to help the North Stars finish with the win and a 3-1 weekend record. Strati Kolouris and Nick Korompilas both tallied 4 scores in the loss for the Red Devils.

 

Stagg 13 Young 10

Drew Stoffel, Juan Valdez, and Zach Golob each recorded 4 goals as Stagg beat Young 13-10 to win their own tournament with a 4-0 record on Saturday. Stoffel led the Chargers with 15 goals and Golob totaled 14 scores in the team's four games. Seth Hughes scored 4 times in the loss for the Dolphins.

 

Deerfield/Highland Park Tournament

Meyer Helps Lead Deerfield/Highland Park Coop to Tournament Title

Notie Meyer scored 15 goals, including 7 scores in an 11-5 final game win over Glenbrook North, to help lead the Deerfield/Highland Park team to a 3-0 record and a tournament title at their own event on Saturday. Meyer also scored 5 times in a win over Barrington and added 3 goals in an earlier victory over Elk Grove. Barrington finished in third after beating Rolling Meadows, while Niles West topped Elk Grove 10-9 in the fifth place game.


GIRLS

Barrington 10 STC North 9

Chloe Padula scored 3 times, Catherine Byron and Lisa Danhauer both scored 2 goals, and goalie Erin Moston saved 11 shots as Barrington edged St Charles North 10-9 on Saturday morning.

 

Hoffman 18 Maine East 10

Rachael Gallo totaled 8 goals, Vishwa Shah added 3 scores, and Sharon Sturnfield scored 2 goals as Hoffman went on the road to beat Maine East 18-10 on Saturday.

 

Conant Tournament

Conant 12 STC East 8

Katie Varga scored 4 times and both Jessica Southern and Kristi Burke each recorded 3 goals as Conant pulled away from St Charles East with a 6-2 run in the second quarter en route to a 12-8 victory over the Saints. Lucie Banahan made 9 saves and Varga drew four ejections in the win for the Cougars.

 

Lane 10 Lake Forest 8

Cassidy O'Connell scored 8 goals to help Lane pull away from Lake Forest in the final quarter to earn a 10-8 decision over Lake Forest. Emily Nowlin recorded 6 goals in the loss for the Scouts.

 

Conant 14 Lake Forest 5

Jessica Southern and Katie Varga both scored 4 goals and Andie Cobb added 3 scores in Conant's 14-5 win over Lake Forest. Emily Nowlin scored 2 goals to lead the Scouts in the losing effort.

 

Lane 10 STC East 3

Natalie O'Connell scored 4 goals and Cassidy O'Connell added 3 scores to lead Lane to a 10-3 victory over St Charles East. The Indians jumped out to a 7-0 first half lead en route to the win.

 

Lake Forest 9 STC East 3

The Scouts jumped out to a 5-0 first quarter lead and never looked back as they beat St Charles East 9-3 to claim third place in the Conant Tournament. Emily Nowlin recorded 4 scores and Hannah Chody scored 2 times in the victory for Lake Forest.

 

Lane 6 Conant 4 (OT)

Lane held Conant scoreless in the second half and sent the game to overtime after trailing 4-2 at halftime, then outlasted the Cougars 2-1 in the shootout to claim a 6-4 win and the Conant Tournament title on Saturday afternoon. Ashley McGhee starred for the Indians in goal, making 18 saves and allowing no goals in the shootout. Cassidy O'Connell totaled 3 goals in the win for Lane. Katie Varga scored 2 goals and Lucie Banahan stopped 8 shots in the narrow loss for the Cougars.

 

Loyola Tournament

Fremd 9 Loyola 8 (OT)

#9 Fremd overcame a 7-3 halftime deficit to #6 Loyola and sent the game to overtime after a 4-0 second half performance that saw the Vikings completely shut down the Ramblers offense. Emily Orlowski and Sam del Prado both scored on their five-meter shots, while Brittany Wallace was the lone scorer for Loyola, which gave the Vikings the 9-8 win in extra time. Sam Matuszewski  and del Prado both ended the game with 3 goals, while Megan Kennedy scored 2 times in the victory. Wallace led the Ramblers with 6 goals and both Caitlin Sershon and Rachel Nieman added one goal apiece in the loss for the Ramblers. Loyola goalie Kristina Alexander also made three saves during the shootout.

 

Fremd also defeated Hersey 11-4 and beat R-B 12-0 to claim the Loyola Tournament title, with Sam Matuszewski finishing as their leading scorer with 9 total goals. Loyola finished second after finishing  beating Hersey 4-3 and R-B 14-1. The Ramblers had scoring contributions from 12 players over the course of the tournament. Hersey finished in third place after beating R-B 8-2. Christine Rovani led the Huskies with 9 goals in the tournament.

 

Naperville Tournament

Naperville Central Achieves Perfection at Naperville Tournament

Naperville Central went 4-0 with wins over Metea, Naperville North, Neuqua, and Waubonsie to win the Naperville Tournament on Saturday. Abbey Kerth recorded 15 goals and both Emily Sejna and Robyn Stanley scored 8 times to lead the Redhawks to the perfect weekend mark.

 

Waubonsie Valley (2-1-1) finished in second place after finishing in a 5-5 tie against Naperville North while grabbing wins over both Metea and Neuqua. Alex White totaled 9 goals and Cara Stack and Michelle Moynihan each scored 5 times for the Warriors in the four game set.

 

Neuqua Valley (2-2) finished in third place after defeating Metea and Naperville North. Tricia Bannister scored 8 times for Neuqua, inlcuding a 7-goal performance against Metea. Rachel Lehman also totaled 7 scores for the Wildcats, including six scores in NV's  8-4 win over Naperville North.

 

Naperville North (1-2-1) finished in fourth place after beating Metea and earning a draw hard fought against Waubonsie. Audrey Chien scored 13 goals and Meghan Nerud tacked on 10 goals for the Huskies.

 

Metea Valley (0-4), playing in their first Varsity-level tournament, got 11 goals from Mia Palladino and 7 scores from Lizzie Hollopeter.

 

New Trier Tournament

St Viator 10 Wheeling 4

Eileen Mallof tallied 4 goals and Melanie Battaglia added 3 scores in St Viator's 10-4 victory over Wheeling, their second of the event.

 

New Trier 8 Evanston 4

Anna Horstkotte scored 5 times and Isabelle Baneaux, Katie Flynn, and Mary Molitor each added one score apiece as New Trier defeated Evanston 8-4. Ellis O'Connor led the Wildkits with 3 goals in the losing effort.

 

Sandburg 11 New Trier 10

Jamie Pappanastos (6 goals) scored on a lob shot from outside seven meters with six seconds remaining to give Sandburg an 11-10 win over New Trier. Cara Hays added 2 scores in the win for the Eagles. Anna Horstkotte registered 5 goals in the loss for New Trier.

 

New Trier 11 St Viator 5

Anna Horstkotte and Erika Nothnagel each tallied 3 goals as New Trier topped St Viator 11-5. Eileen Mallof put in 4 goals in the loss for the Lions.

 

Evanston 10 St Viator 6

Ellis O'Connor notched 6 goals to lead Evanston to a 10-6 victory over St Viator.

 

New Trier 11 Wheeling 4

Anna Horstkotte scored 6 goals and Claire Saleh added 2 scores as the Trevians defeated Wheeling 11-4 in the final game of the tournament. Leah Malsom scored 2 goals in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

Northside Tournament

Oak Park 4 Northside 2

Alison Coogan recorded 2 goals as Oak Park held off Northside 4-2 in the tournament opener in Chicago on Saturday morning. Kelly Buchanan and Rhyan White each scored for Northside, while goalie Cecile Franke stopped 7 shots in the loss.

 

Marian 10 York 4

Amy Martello scored 3 goals and Grace Van Beest and Paige Wieser each added 2 scores in Marian's 10-4 win over York. Jamie Redmond scored all 4 goals in the loss for the Dukes.

 

Hinsdale South 7 Oak Park 4

Alecia Lewis scored 3 goals as Hinsdale South beat Oak Park 7-4. Hannah Garrigan led the Huskies with 2 goals in the loss.

 

Northside 10 York 8

Kelly Buchanan tallied 4 goals, Meghan Quigley scored 3 times, and Cecile Franke stopped 15 shots in Northside's 10-8 victory over York. Jamie Redmond scored 4 times and Katie Nelson added 2 goals in the loss for York.

 

Marian 10 Hinsdale South 9

In a back and forth affair, Marian overcame an 8-7 deficit in the fourth quarter with a 3-0 run and held on for a 10-9 win over Hinsdale South for their second win of the tournament. After Hinsdale South's Eleni Murphy gave her team the lead at the 3:53 mark, Marian's Amy Martello scored three straight goals over the next two minutes to give the Spartans a 10-8 advantage. Murphy scored again with twenty seconds remaining to trim the lead to one, but Marian effectively ran out the clock to secure the win. Martello scored 6 times in the win for the Spartans, while Alecia Lewis totaled 3 goals and Murphy scored 2 times to lead the Hornets in the loss.

 

Oak Park 5 York 3

Abby Vogt and Mary Clare Stannard each scored 2 times to lead Oak Park past York 5-3. Huskies' goalie Zoe Erickson totaled 17 saves in the win.

 

Marian 7 Northside 5

Marian raced out to a 5-0 halftime lead and held off a tough second half challenge from the hosts to earn a 7-5 victory on Saturday. Amy Martello led the way for the Spartans with 5 goals in the win. Northside's Kelly Buchanan scored 2 goals and drew 5 ejections, while goalie Cecile Franke stopped 13 shots in the losing effort.

 

Hinsdale South 10 York 7

Eleni Murphy totaled 5 goals and Alecia Lewis scored 2 times to help lift Hinsdale South past York 10-7. Cheryl Skukas scored 4 times and Jennifer Woloszyk added 2 scores in the loss for York.

 

Oak Park 9 Marian 8

OPRF built up a 9-5 lead in the second half and survived a furious rally from Marian to stun the Spartans 9-8 to claim the Northside Tournament title. Amanda Jonakaitis cut the Oak Park lead to 9-6 with 4:45 remaining, then Spartans' goalie Devin Green scored two goals from her own end, the second with just 0:21 left on the clock, to slice the Oak Park lead down to 9-8. The Huskies were able to run the clock out and, since both teams finished with a 3-1 record, won the tournament based on the head-to-head win. Alison Coogan and Katie Hunt both scored 3 goals in the win for the Huskies. Amy Martello scored 4 goals in the loss for Marian.

 

Northside 7 Hinsdale South 3

The hosts finished the tournament with a 7-3 win over Hinsdale South, finishing the game with a 3-0 run to ensure the victory. Kelly Buchanan scored 4 times and Cecile Franke made 15 saves in the win for the Mustangs. Eleni Murphy scored 2 goals in the loss for the Hornets.
