Huskies Show Dominance In Weekend Effort
Naperville North proved what most people in the Naperville-area thought coming into the season on Saturday; that they are the clear favorites to make a return trip to state after going 4-0 at Metea Valley. The Huskies pounded the hosts 19-2 in the opener, fended off rival Naperville Central 7-3, then disposed of both Neuqua Valley and Waubonsie Valley to win the event. The Redhawks went 3-1 to finish in second place, holding off a tough Neuqua Valley team 10-7. The Wildcats ended up third after Simon Shatinsky's last-minute goal beat Waubonsie Valley and then edged the hosts 11-9 in their second effort of the day. Waubonsie Valley beat Metea Valley 17-9 to finish the event in fourth place with one win.

Naperville North 19 Metea Valley 2

The Huskies began the proceedings on Saturday with a comfortable 19-2 win over Metea Valley, as Eric Curia slotted home 5 shots and Nolan Roberts put in 4 scores. North took 12-1 lead at halftime en route to the victory.

Neuqua Valley 9 Waubonsie Valley 8

Simon Shatinski's backhand goal in the final minute helped Neuqua Valley topple Waubonsie Valley 9-8 on Saturday morning. Shatinski scored 4 times in the victory for the Wildcats, while Will Russell put in 2 goals and John Hedderman made 17 saves.

Naperville North 7 Naperville Central 3

Eric Curia scored 3 times and Gianmarco Duin added 2 goals to help lift the Huskies over the Redhawks 7-3. Christian May, Kyle Stablein, and Jeff Donahue each scored once for Central in the loss.

Neuqua Valley 11 Metea Valley 9

Brian DePuy and Simon Shatinski both scored 3 times and John Hedderman made 9 saves in the Wildcats' 11-9 win over Metea Valley. Alex Walter and Steven Baro both tallied 3 goals and Alex Vass produced 2 scores in the loss for the hosts.

Naperville Central 9 Waubonsie Valley 4

Joe Bigenwald and Kyle Stablein each tallied 2 scores to help lift Naperville Central past Waubonsie Valley 9-4.

Naperville North 14 Neuqua Valley 6

The Huskies jumped out to a 6-0 lead en route to a 14-6 victory over Neuqua Valley. Eric Curia and Nolan Roberts each scored 3 times and Gianmarco Duin added 2 scores. North goalie Michael Shabel also came up with 15 saves to aide in the Huskies' third win of the day.

Waubonsie Valley 17 Metea Valley 9

Naperville Central 10 Neuqua Valley 7

Joe Bigenwald, Kyle Stablein, and Nick Walker all scored 2 goals as Naperville Central pulled away from Neuqua Valley to earn a 10-7 win on Saturday. Will Russell scored 2 times in the loss for the Wildcats.

Naperville North 11 Waubonsie Valley 6

Eric Curia scored 4 goals and both Garrett Nash and Luke Landiak chipped in with 2 scores to help North wrap up a perfect weekend with an 11-6 win over Waubonsie Valley. Mike McWhirter tallied 3 scores in the loss for the Warriors.

Naperville Central 15 Metea Valley 5

Adam Hunter, Jeff Donahue, Joe Bigenwald, Kyle Stablein, and Nick Walker each registered 2 goals to lead Naperville Central past Metea Valley 15-5 in the final game of the event.
