TOURNAMENT TO WATCH
PALATINE TOURNAMENT
The Palatine Tournament continues on Saturday morning with three preliminary
games before the nine teams shift into the championship round.
OTHER KEY TOURNAMENTS
HIGHLAND PARK TOURNAMENT
The Giants host a six-team event that features Barrington, Elk Grove,
Deerfield, GBN, and Meadows.
HOFFMAN TOURNAMENT
Hoffman hosts a six-team tournament on Saturday, as the Hawks' side of the bracket includes Hinsdale South and Prospect, while
the other side features BG, STC East, and Vernon Hills.
NAPERVILLE TOURNAMENT
The Naperville-area's best teams get together over the weekend
for a ten-game tournament that serves as a preview to who will have the upperhand
when the postseason rolls around.
STEVENSON TOURNAMENT
The Patriots welcome Fremd, Niles West, and Wheeling for an afternoon
tournament that gets underway at 1:00pm.
STAGG TOURNAMENT
The Stagg Tournament rolls on with seven preliminary round games on Saturday
morning, where teams will continue to qualify for the final round based on their
earlier performances.

TOURNAMENT TO WATCH
FREMD TOURNAMENT
The Fremd Tournament features four Top 25 teams going head-to-head
beginning at 9:00am on Saturday morning. The event starts with #18 Fremd
taking on #5 Loyola, while #19 Maine East faces #16 Bremen. The teams mix
it up after that for a grand total of six games.
OTHER KEY TOURNAMENTS
CONANT TOURNAMENT
The Cougars play host to Lane, Lake Forest, and STC East in a six-game
tournament on Saturday.
HINSDALE CENTRAL TOURNAMENT
The Red Devils invite Hoffman, LWE, LWN, and STC North to Hinsdale for a
ten-game event that begins on Saturday morning.
NAPERVILLE TOURNAMENT
The Naperville-area tournament continues on Saturday with seven more games
that will provide a better idea of the pecking order for a group of teams that
always end up battling it out in the postseason for a shot at a state
tournament berth.
NEW TRIER TOURNAMENT
The Trevians' annual event is a four-team, six-game tournament that provides
a test to the hosts and the visitors as the first week wraps up. The key
matchup is the tournament-opener, as #4 New Trier takes on #10 Sandburg. #26
Evanston and St Viator play in the second game and the teams mix it up from
there.
NORTHSIDE TOURNAMENT
The Mustangs host a five-team tournament on Saturday that features several
evenly-matched teams. Oak Park, York, Marian, Northside, and Hinsdale
South all do battle in a ten-game event.
STEVENSON TOURNAMENT
The Patriots welcome #12 Barrington, #20 Wheeling, and #39 Whitney Young
for a six-game tournament that starts on Saturday morning. The
eighth-ranked hosts take on Barrington in the event's first game, while
Wheeling matches up with Whitney Young in the second game as things start
to heat up.

HOFFMAN TOURNAMENT
Saints Find Heaven In
Performance At Hoffman Tourney
St Charles East rolled to a 3-0 record at the Hoffman Tournament on Saturday,
beating Hinsdale South 13-11 in the title game to clinch a perfect weekend.
Earlier in the day, Ian Salveson and Mitch Phelps combined to score 10 goals in
wins over Buffalo Grove and Vernon Hills. Hinsdale South beat Hoffman and
Prospect to claim second place, while the hosts started the day by beating
Prospect and ended it with a win over Buffalo Grove in the third-place game. The
Bison finished the day with one win over Vernon Hills to take fourth, while
Prospect suffered two tough losses early in the day but bounced back to also
beat Vernon Hills 18-3 in the fifth-place game.
METEA VALLEY TOURNAMENT
Huskies Show Dominance In
Weekend Effort
Naperville North proved what most people in the Naperville-area
thought coming into the season on Saturday; that they are the clear favorites to
make a return trip to state after going 4-0 at Metea Valley. The Huskies pounded
the hosts 19-2 in the opener, fended off rival Naperville Central 7-3, then
disposed of both Neuqua Valley and Waubonsie Valley to win the event. The
Redhawks went 3-1 to finish in second place, holding off a tough Neuqua Valley
team 10-7. The Wildcats ended up third after Simon Shatinsky's last-minute goal
beat Waubonsie Valley and then edged the hosts 11-9 in their second effort of
the day. Waubonsie Valley beat Metea Valley 17-9 to finish the event in fourth
place with one win.
PALATINE TOURNAMENT
New Trier Claims Palatine Tournament Crown
The fourth-ranked Trevians started off their 2013 in fine fashion
by winning the Palatine Tournament with a perfect 4-0 mark over the
two-day event. The Jordan Palmer-led squad beat Latin and Mundelein
on Friday night to advance to the championship bracket, where they
defeated Loyola and Palatine to grab the early-season trophy.
Meanwhile, the host Pirates put forth a strong effort before losing
in the title game, finishing with wins over McHenry and St Ignatius
and a draw with Loyola. The Ramblers also looked solid with a
revamped starting lineup, beating Curie and H-F before drawing with
the hosts to finish in third place.
STAGG TOURNAMENT
Oak Park Rolls To Stagg
Tournament Title
Oak Park won four straight games over the weekend, including a 6-2 title game
win over West Suburban Conference foe Hinsdale Central, to emerge with the Stagg
Tournament title on Saturday. The Huskies were led by Nathan Pimentel's 13 goals
in a stretch that saw them beat Stagg, STC North, and St Rita. The Red Devils
finished in second place after earning wins over Bradley, Morton, and R-B over
the two-day event. Bradley responded to a loss on Friday night to Central by
winning three straight games on Saturday to finish in third place. STC North
bounced back from two losses on Friday night to finish in fifth place, while St
Rita edged out Morton 11-9 in the seventh-place game.
Stevenson Edges Fremd In Overtime To Win Tournament
Remy Dalloul's game-winning goal in overtime helped Stevenson beat Fremd 7-6 to
finish their own event with a 3-0 record on Saturday. The Patriots also beat
Niles West and Wheeling behind the offensive punch of Mitchell Sokolsky (11
goals) and Varun Mummadi (8 goals). Goaltender Robbie O'Brien also came up big,
as he stopped a Fremd breakaway at the end of regulation with the score tied
against Fremd and made 39 saves in the three-game set. The Vikings finished in
second place after a solid defensive effort against Niles West and Wheeling (6
total goals allowed), while Niles West finished in third after beating Wheeling
in the closing seconds of their matchup.
Elk Grove Grinds Out
Highland Park Tournament Title
The Grenadiers outlasted Glenbrook North 10-8 in the title game after defeating
Barrington and the hosts earlier in the day to emerge with the Highland Park
Tournament title and a 3-0 record. The Spartans took second after beating
Deerfield and Meadows, while Barrington bounced back from their loss to Elk
Grove to finish in third place. The host Giants upended former partner Deerfield
in the fifth-place game 11-9.

CONANT TOURNAMENT
Conant Edges Lane To Win Tournament
The Cougars spoiled the fun for their guests by going 3-0 on
Saturday to win their own event. Carmen Rosas totaled 16 goals during the
three-game set, which Conant finished up by edging Lane 9-7 in the virtual title
game. They also earned wins over Lake Forest and STC East earlier in the day,
with Angie Skittone contributing 7 scores and the goaltending duo of Jenn Soukup
and Maddy Demeret combining to stop 20 shots in the three games. Carmen
Savolainen poured in 13 goals to lead Lane to a second-place finish, while Lexy
Koss totaled 6 goals for STC East as they beat Lake Forest to finish in third
place.
FREMD TOURNAMENT
Ramblers Looking Sharp
After Fremd Tournament Win
Loyola set the tone early for a big day by beating host Fremd 11-5
in the tournament opener, then went on to earn convincing wins over Bremen and
Maine East en route to claiming the Week 1 tournament title in Palatine on
Saturday afternoon. Evan Swenson scored 12 goals, Marta Considine added 10
scores, and Allison Sajnaj contributed 9 goals as a balanced offensive attack
and a solid defensive performance gave Loyola all the firepower necessary to
finish the day with a 3-0 record. Fremd bounced back from the early loss to hold
off Bremen and Maine East by three goals in each game, while the Red Jaguars
claimed third place by beating the Blue Demons 13-3.
HINSDALE CENTRAL TOURNAMENT
Defense Helps With the Rise of the Phoenix
Lincoln-Way North allowed just two goals in three straight games to walk away
from Hinsdale with a 3-0 record and a tournament title on Saturday. After
beating Glenbrook South 11-2 in their first game, the Phoenix beat both
Lincoln-Way East and STC North by 3-2 margins to win the event. Sam Klosak
tallied 9 goals to lead the offense, while goalie Katie Pender and the defense
allowed just 6 total goals in three games. Sarah Stern scored 5 goals to help
the North Stars place second with a 2-1 mark, while Sarah Pircon led all scorers
with 15 goals to help the hosts claim third place. Taryn Linke scored 4 goals
and Haley McCabe added 3 scores as LWE finished in fourth, Anne Edwards totaled
9 goals in GBS' fifth-place finish, and Kasia Serwin scored 12 times even though
Hoffman finished with an 0-3 record.
NAPERVILLE TOURNAMENT
Redhawks Emerge As Naperville's Best Once Again
Naperville Central held on to beat Naperville North 7-5 in the
tournament opener and then found their groove in getting past Metea, Neuqua, and
Waubonsie to win the Naperville Tournament on Saturday with a 4-0 record. Leslie
Calabrese paced the Redhawks' scoring with 10 goals, while Erin Reagan recorded
8 goals and goalie Jessica Fox earned one shutout and allowed less than 4 goals
per game. Naperville North finished the event in second place with a 3-1 record,
Neuqua Valley finished third with a 2-2 mark, and Metea Valley and Waubonsie
Valley tied 7-7 in their head-to-head matchup and both finished winless at the
event.
NEW TRIER TOURNAMENT
New Trier Grabs Three Wins
and a Title
The host Trevians fought off a tough challenge from Sandburg to win
their tournament-opener and then beat both Evanston and St Viator to
win their own event. Alexana Astor led the offense with 12 goals and
nine different players got in on the scoring act to help the
Trevians boast a 3-0 weekend record. Sarah Dolitsky scored 8 goals
and Brittany Kamper added 5 scores for a Sandburg team that bounced
back from the early loss to the hosts to beat Evanston and St Viator
to finish 2-1. Meawhile, Yasi Nassiri put in 6 goals to help
Evanston grab a win over St Viator for a third-place finish.
NORTHSIDE TOURNAMENT
Oak Park Emerges With
Northside Tournament Title
The Huskies rattled off convincing wins over Hinsdale South and
Northside early in the day and then held off both Marian and York to finish the
day with a 4-0 mark to win the Northside Tournament. Katie Appell led the
offense for OPRF with 18 goals, while a balanced defense helped
limit opponents to a grand total of 11 goals in four games. Carly
Redmond scored 8 goals to help lift York to a 3-1 mark and a second
place finish, while Paige Weiser led all scorers with 25 tallies in
Marian's third-place effort. The hosts put a claim on fourth place
by beating Hinsdale South in the day's final game.
STEVENSON TOURNAMENT
Barrington Stays Perfect After Winning Stevenson Tournament
The Fillies snuck past the host Patriots 7-6 in the day's opening match and went
on to earn victories over both Wheeling and Whitney Young to win the Stevenson
Tournament on Saturday morning. The Patriots responded by earning convincing
wins over the Dolphins and Wildcats to finish 2-1 and in second place. In the
battle for third place, Whitney Young goalie Nya Wilkins scored the game-winning
goal from her own net in the second overtime period to give the Dolphins a 6-5
win. Wheeling finished lost their first two games by margins of one and three
before succumbing to Stevenson 14-2 to end the day winless.
