TOURNAMENT OF THE DAY

PALATINE TOURNAMENT

The third-annual Palatine Tournament normally provides a much better look at how several of the top teams in the state will fare during the upcoming season. This year's edition will be no exception, as some of the state's best teams do battle in a nine-team tournament that features six exciting contests on Friday night. #9 Homewood-Flossmoor is involved in two of the night's most intriguing games, as the Vikings take on #10 Curie and last year's state runner-up, #14 Loyola. #4 New Trier also has to deal with #16 Latin and #32 Mundelein on Friday, while #15 St Ignatius takes on both #24 Palatine and #30 McHenry.

The Chargers welcome seven other teams to Palos Hills for a two-day tournament that features five games on Friday night. The hosts play two bookend games when they start the night against Catholic League stalwart St Rita and close things out with a fierce match with STC North. In between, #11 Oak Park takes on the North Stars, #13 Hinsdale Central faces Bradley, and Morton battles R-B.
