BOYS

Bradley 13 Bremen 9

Joseph Page scored 4 goals Etienne Swanepeol, Paul Weber, and Ryan Zhe each added 2 scores as Bradley topped Bremen 13-9.

 

Curie 16 Lane 11

The Condors raced out to a 9-0 first quarter lead before defeating Lane 16-11 on Wednesday night. Ivan Ariza and Marcos Hernandez each tallied 4 scores, Eduardo Chavez scored 3 times, and Danny Pantoja stopped 11 shots in the win for Curie.

 

Morgan Park 17 Juarez 14

Zeke Watts registered 9 scores and Nick Jones added 5 goals as Morgan Park edged Juarez 17-14 on Wednesday night. Josue Hernandez scored 9 times in the loss for the Eagles.

 

Northside 16 Payton 1

Mihal Rajeski scored 5 goals and Connor Gillespie forced 7 steals in Northside's 16-1 win over Payton.

 

Taft 22 Lincoln Park 20

Jaime Riano scored 11 goals to help lift Taft past Lincoln Park 22-20 in CPS action on Wednesday.

 

STC East 15 Metea Valley 8

Mitch Phelps and Shaun Seuschek combined to score 7 goals as STC East built a 9-4 halftime lead en route to a 15-8 win over Metea Valley on Wednesday. Matt VanGyseghem, Sam Schultz, and Stephen Mason each added 2 scores in the win for the Saints. Alex Walter scored 3 goals and Cameron Weber added 2 scores in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

GIRLS

Fremd 12 St Viator 4

The Vikings jumped out to a 7-3 halftime lead en route to a 12-4 victory over St Viator on Wednesday. Sam del Prado and Sam Matuszewski each scored 4 goals, Emily McCarthy added 2 scores, and Julie Conrath stopped 13 shots in the win. Eileen Mallof scored 3 times and Ashley Herzfeldt made 11 saves in the loss for the Lions.

 

Hinsdale Central 15 Stagg 4

Sarah Pircon scored 5 goals and Sam Foulston tallied 4 scores in the Red Devils' 15-4 victory over Stagg.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 18 Richards 2

Rebecca Mathews recorded 5 goals and both Anna Tenny and Tess Adamonis each scored 4 times to lead H-F past Richards 18-2. Claire Duncan and Maddy Morris both added 2 goals in the win for the Vikings. Chris Dvoracek and Michelle Jozefowicz each scored one goal apiece for the Bulldogs in the losing effort.

 

Metea Valley 17 STC East 7

Lizzie Hollopeter scored 6 times and Maria Palladino added 3 scores to help lead Metea Valley past STC East 17-7 on Wednesday. Alex Conti, Katelyn Apple, and Natalie Carothers each added 2 scores for the Mustangs in the winning effort.

 

Morgan Park 11 Juarez 5

Janelle Wenner tallied 6 goals, Gracie Wenner added 3 scores, and goalie Crystal Webb stopped 14 shots in Morgan Park's 11-5 conference win over Juarez.

 

Mother McAuley 11 Marian 2

Vicky Arciniega scored 3 goals, Amy Kopale scored 2 times, and Sarah Abbott stopped 7 shots as Mother McAuley beat Marian 11-2.

 

Northside 12 Payton 5

Meghan Quigley and Sarah Bodenstein both scored 3 times as Northside defeated Payton 12-5.

 

Palatine 8 Meadows 5

Nicole Theis tallied 6 goals, Rachel Chumbrook totaled 6 steals and drew four ejections, and Caroline Wojtas made 19 saves as the Pirates edged the Mustangs 8-5 on Wednesday. Jessica Dykstra registered 2 goals in the loss for Meadows.

 

Prospect 12 Hoffman 2

Jessica Cavaiani recorded 7 goals and Emily Rigopoulos scored 3 times in Prospect's 12-2 victory over Hoffman on Wednesday evening. Amanda Drucker also made 18 saves in the win for the Knights. Cory Liang and Sarah Sturnfield each scored one goal in the loss for the Hawks.

 

Stevenson 18 Latin 2

Brittany Gartenberg and Erin McCook each scored 3 goals and Cami Haas added 2 scores to help lift Stevenson past Latin 18-2 in nonconference play. Lisa Michalowski also saved 9 shots in the season-opening win for the Patriots. Ashley Henderson tallied both goals for the Romans.

 

Vernon Hills 17 Glenbrook North 12

Anna Lebiedzinski scored 7 goals, Dana Andrea added 5 goals and 5 assists, and Anna Fan put in 4 goals in the Cougars' 17-12 win over GBN.

#7 Curie at Lane

Eduardo Chavez, Ramiro Almarez, and the rest of the Condors begin their CPS title defense on the road against a Lane team that earned an emphatic victory over Foreman on Tuesday night.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Saint Viator at #28 Fremd

The Lions seek their first win of the season after two straight losses against a Fremd team looking to prove they are a strong challenger for the MSL title in 2012.

 

GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Curie at #17 Lane

Two of the top teams in the CPS square off on Wednesday night in Chicago; the road game is the season opener for Curie, while Lane is coming off a 16-0 shutout win over Payton on Tuesday night.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Stagg at Hinsdale Central

The Chargers and Red Devils both seek to remain perfect in the first week of the season after they each won their respective openers earlier in the week. Central defeated Morton on Monday night while Stagg topped Argo on Tuesday.
