GAME PREVIEWS

BOYS

MATCH OF THE DAY

#5 Loyola at #1 Fenwick

The Catholic League sure doesn't wait to get things started with a bang. The defending champion Friars play host to a surging Loyola team fresh off a third-place finish in 2011. While the teams will be working the kinks out in the conference opener, this one counts just as much as any MCAC contest, so expect a heated battle in Oak Park on Monday.

KEEP AN EYE ON:

#11 McHenry at #19 Conant

If you want to show a beginner how tough and physical the sport of water polo can be, take them to Conant to see the matchup between the Warriors and Cougars. Both teams have state tournament aspirations, so getting off to a winning start will be the goal for both teams on Monday night.

GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

#14 Bremen at #15 LWC

Bremen earned an 18-17 win on a game-winning goal from Hannah Schultz with four seconds left in this fixture on opening night last season. With a large contingent of players returning for both teams in 2012, expect some fireworks in New Lenox on Monday evening.

KEEP AN EYE ON:

#8 Loyola at #1 Fenwick

As mentioned above, the Catholic League doesn't disappoint with their season openers. The top-ranked Friars begin their title defense against a Loyola team that is also looking to return to state after a run to the quarterfinals last year.
