Seven things to look for in the sixth week of the season:
I. St Ignatius Tournament (Girls)
The six-team tournament begins on Friday night; featured
teams include the host Wolfpack, Loyola, New Trier, H-F, Waubonsie Valley,
and Marian.
II. Naperville Central Tournament (Boys)
Naperville's 18-game Best of the West tournament sees the
host Redhawks, Glenbrook South, Mundelein, Naperville North, and five other
teams facing off beginning on Friday afternoon.
III. Lyons Tournament (Boys)
LT's tournament includes West Suburban Conference rivals
Oak Park and York, plus St Ignatius, Loyola, and Stevenson. There will be no
easy games at this tournament.
IV. Naperville Central vs New Trier (Girls)
The undefeated Redhawks face a stiff challenge on the
road against Central Suburban Conference leader New Trier on Tuesday night.
V. Naperville Central vs Neuqua Valley (Boys)
Two top five teams face off at Neuqua Valley on
Wednesday, as the Redhawks and Wildcats will fight over the top seed at next
month's NV sectional.
VI. Glenbrook South vs New Trier (Boys)
The Central Suburban Conference matchup between Glenbrook
South and New Trier features two teams with undefeated conference records on
Wednesday.
VII. Sandburg vs Lincoln-Way East (Boys)
Something's got to give on Wednesday night in the SWSC, as
undefeated Sandburg and Lincoln-Way East meet for the first time in 2009.
The First Sub
New Trier Tournament (Boys)
The Trevians host Fremd, Lockport, and McHenry in a
Saturday-only tournament.
The Second Sub
Lincoln-Way East at Lincoln-Way Central (Girls)
The Lincoln-Way rivals meet on Tuesday evening to fight
for second place in the SWSC; both teams enter the week tied for 13th in the
latest rankings.
