The Starting VII
Week 3
By Aaron Brown
Seven things to look for in the third week of the season:
I. Fenwick Tournament (Boys)
12 of the Top 25 teams head to Fenwick over the weekend
in a tournament that should answer a lot of questions about the rest of the
season. Check the Week 3
Schedule for a complete listing of teams participating.
II. Schaumburg Tournament (Boys)
Schaumburg plays host to three of the top teams from
Missouri, in addition to Top 25 teams Mundelein and York.
III. Lyons Tournament (Girls)
This Saturday-only tournament features three Top 25
teams, including the hosts, Stevenson, and Evanston.
IV. Brother Rice at Fenwick (Boys)
Another chapter in a historic rivalry continues on Monday
night, as the Friars look to remain undefeated against the fourth-ranked
Crusaders.
V. Loyola at St Patrick (Boys)
Both teams have been impressive in the first two weeks of
the season, so something will have to give on Monday night when the two face
off in a Catholic League showdown.
VI. McAuley at Loyola (Girls)
Wednesday night's Catholic League matchup between McAuley
and Loyola should be an exciting battle between Top 10 teams.
VII. Neuqua at GBS (Boys)
John Mikuzis and the WIldcats head north to play in
Glenbrook South's new all-deep pool in a game that features two of the Top
10 teams in the state.
The First Sub
LWE at Sandburg (Girls)
Both teams will look to challenge for the Southwest
Suburban Conference championship in 2009, so Friday's matchup will give one
team the early advantage in the title race.
