Seven things to look for in the second week of the season:
I. McAuley at Ignatius (Girls)
The action heats up right away on Monday night, as Mother
McAuley faces St Ignatius at UIC in a Catholic League showdown.
II. Tuesday night girls' matchups
Several ranked opponents do battle on Tuesday on the
girls' side, with Loyola at Stevenson, Lyons at Sandburg, Neuqua at Hinsdale Central,
and Wheeling at Prospect highlighting the evening.
III. McAuley at Fenwick (Girls)
Things don't get easier for McAuley after their game
against Ignatius, as they face the defending state champs on Wednesday night
at Fenwick.
IV. St Ignatius at Young (Boys)
Young started out strong in the opening week, surprising
Mundelein and taking New Trier into extra time before losing in a shootout.
Can they continue their momentum against a tough St Ignatius team on
Wednesday night?
V. Loyola at New Trier (Boys)
The showdowns begin up north, as Loyola travels to
Winnetka to take on rival New Trier on Wednesday in boys' action.
VI. Naperville Central Tournament (Girls)
The Redhawks host Mundelein, Naperville North, H-F, and
York in a Saturday-only tournament.
VII. Waubonsie Valley Tournament (Boys)
The lineup for Saturday's WV Tournament includes Oak
Park, St Patrick, Naperville Central, and the host Warriors.
The First Sub
