….:::::ALL-STATE SELECTION PROCESS:::::....

All-Sectional Selection Process

The following text is the process for this year’s All-Sectional and All-State Nomination and Selection. Please read
carefully. Attached to this email you will find a form for nominating your players to the All-Sectional team. Please
fill out this form and bring it to your Sectional Seed meeting on Monday. The form is to be turned in to your
Sectional Host Coach, NOT the managing Athletic Director.

*    All-State Nominations: All-State nominations will be limited to players named to the All-Sectional teams (excluding All-Sectional Honorable Mention as listed above).  All coaches will be allowed ONE nomination in addition to the All-Sectional list.

     All-Sectional results can be considered preliminary All-State nominees, and individual nominees can be posted on a common website for nominations to be viewed.  This will increase familiarity with the All-State candidates and potentially streamline the All-State selection process both in
nomination and voting.

     Each All-Sectional player can receive votes in All-State selection. In other words, the All-Sectional results are automatic nominations for All-State. Though every coach should be encouraged to attend the All-State Selection meeting, the coach does not need to be present to nominate a player in order for that player to receive votes.  However, Nominations will not be accepted via fax or email.  No additional meeting time will be allotted for nominations of players that are not represented by a coach or proxy.

*   Nomination Round: All-State nominations at the Selection meeting will be limited to one round.  Through the All-Sectional selection process, All-State candidates will be visible in advance. All-State ballots will not be distributed until each nomination has been heard.

*     Voting Rounds: Voting will be limited to two rounds.  This will cut the voting process in half, while still allowing for adjustments on a second ballot. The First and Second teams will be voted on one ballot, from 1-20, with a decreasing point value from 20 points for the #1 vote, and 1 point for the #20 vote.  The top ten vote-getters will be the All-State First Team, and the next ten vote-getters will be the All-State Second Team. Any player receiving points in the first round of voting that is NOT selected to the First or Second Team will keep those points in the second round of voting.  A second ballot will be then presented for the Third and Fourth teams. The voting process will be the same as the first round, with players listed from 1-20.
