Play-In Games
(8) Northside 28 (9) Ogden 15
Nicholas Chen and Sacramento Chavez each scored 7 goals to lead the
Mustangs past Ogden 28-15 in a high-scoring affair on Tuesday. The
victors advance to face top-seeded St Ignatius on Thursday.
(7) Latin 5 (10) Amundsen 0
The Romans advanced to the sectional quarterfinals after an Amundsen
forfeit goes into the books as an automatic 5-0 result. Latin will face
DLS in the next round on Thursday night.
Thursday, May 14
Quarterfinals
(1) St Ignatius 13 (8) Northside 8
Shane Hughes scored 2 goals and several others including Colin Stelmach,
Conor Shannon, Jacob Conroy and Michael Schiml scored once as the
Wolfpack downed Northside 13-8. Luke Rothschild made 5 saves and 3
steals as well for SICP. Sacramento Chavez tallied 4 scores in the loss
for the Mustangs.
(4) Von Steuben 8 (5) Lane 7
Christopher Iza netted 3 goals while Ethan Hamp notched 2 scores as Von
Steuben trailed Lane 6-3 at the half but outscored the Indians 5-1 in
the second half to earn an 8-7 victory over their CPS counterparts. Max
Boettcher recorded 3 goals and Mark Gullickson scored 2 times in the
loss for Lane.
(2) DLS 16 (7) Latin 5
Robert Rodriguez tallied 5 scores and the trio of Gilberto Moreno, Joe
Koziol and Shane Nagel each put in 2 scores in the Meteors' 16-5 victory
over Latin. Max Falb ended his career on a high-note by scoring all 5
goals in the loss for the Romans.
(3) Jones-Payton 18 (6) Mt Carmel 6
Will Macellaio recorded 8 goals, 4 steals and 3 blocks and Steven Fitzgerald scored 5 times in
the Eagles' 18-6 victory over Mt Carmel. Jacob Williams notched 3 scores
in the loss for the Caravan.
Friday, May 15
Semifinals
(1) St Ignatius 20 (4) Von Steuben 12
Billy Barth and Brendan Stelmach each scored 4 goals and Shane Hughes
netted 3 scores as the Wolfpack defeated Von Steuben 20-12. Andreas
Christy and Gunnar Glaab both tallied 2 scores while Sam Enger blocked 7
shots and dished out 3 assists in the win. Ethan Hamp registered 6
scores in the loss for the Panthers.
(2) DLS 15 (3) Jones-Payton 4
Robert Rodriguez racked up 8 goals to lead the Meteors to a 15-4 victory
over Jones-Payton.
