Play-In Games
(8) Elk Grove 6 (9) Hoffman 4
Lilly Lawrin recorded 3 goals, including 2 scores during a 4-0
second half run, as the Grenadiers erased a 4-2 halftime deficit to
beat Hoffman 6-4. Alyssa Rosenorn added 2 goals and Linds Hendren
tallied one score in the opening-round victory for the hosts. Elk
Grove will now face top-seeded Conant in the next round. Francia
Morales totaled 2 goals and both Ann Cho and Cassandra Rawlings
scored once in the loss for the Hawks.
Wednesday, May 13
Quarterfinals
(1) Conant 15 (8) Elk Grove 3
Carmen Rosas scored 7 goals and Emily Weingart added 3 scores as the
Cougars topped Elk Grove 15-2 to advance to the sectional semifinal
round. Paulina Chowaniec added 2 scores while Barbra Smigla, Sam Wooley
and Nicole Mihaylova each added one goal for the victors. Maddy Demaret
stopped 12 shots and made 3 steals as well for Conant. Lilly Lawrin,
Lindsey Hendren and Nicole Adams each put in one score in the loss for
the Grenadiers.
(4) Schaumburg 7 (5) Barrington 5
Hannah Pearson scored the game-winning goal with 2:21 remaining and
Katrina Vargo tacked on a late goal for insurance purposes in the final
minute of the Saxons' 7-5 win over Barrington. Mia Latimer put in 4
goals to lead the Fillies' offense, including a second-half goal that
gave her squad a 5-4 lead. Catherine Lynch tied things up late in the
third quarter for the hosts, who relied on Pearson's second goal to
secure the win and advance to the sectional semifinals. Becca Kasner,
Brittney Vasquez and Danielle Grubb each added one goal in the win for
Schaumburg. Andrea Potgeiter also recorded one goal in the first half
for Barrington.
(2) Prospect 15 (7) Hersey 7
Danielle McCallister scored 5 goals and both Gracie Dix and Niki Neumann
scored 4 times to lead Prospect past Hersey 16-5.
(3) Fremd 10 (6) Meadows 2
Emma Hoffman scored 4 goals, Nicole Warnstedt notched 2 scores and Emma
Jeronimus made 18 saves in the Vikings' 10-2 win over Meadows. Caitlin Byrd,
Emily Kini, Nicole Degla and Tami Carlson each put in one score as well for
the winners.
Friday, May 15
Semifinals
(1) Conant 14 (4) Schaumburg 4
Carmen Rosas totaled 7 goals and Maddy Demaret stopped 14 shots as the
Cougars topped Schaumburg 14-4 on Friday. Sam Wooley totaled 2 goals and
4 assists and Sarah Gregory added 2 goals as well in the winning effort.
Brittney Vasquez notched 2 scores in the loss for the Saxons.
(3) Fremd 5 (2) Prospect 2
The Fremd defense limited Prospect to just two goals as the Vikings
advanced to the sectional finals with a 5-2 victory over the Knights.
Emma Jeronimus totaled 14 saves while Becca Rutkowski, Emily Kini, Emma
Hoffman, Kayla Helsdingen and Nicole Degla each scored once for the
victors. Danielle McCallister scored 2 times and Lauren Broz made 14
saves in the loss for Prospect.
